Text, "Speech", 'Thought', Other

What the other would think wasn’t guessed at, leaving Aislin with some absent inquiry after she mentioned her work. Getting a nod, that cleared away shortly, and then further after a smile went by. This was taken with a positive thought, although it went through the same distancing after a waiter came up and introduced himself first, before asking about drinks. In taking a moment to decide on what she should get, Cassidy answered first, for a margarita. Thinking toward what she knew, there was a turn toward other alcoholic drinks, then to what she thought she had seen on the menu. With some doubt, a request was raised. “A daiquiri?" After that, she paused.

...Getting a quick affirmation back, the order was also written down, the waiter then saying it wouldn’t be long before their drinks came by. After turning away from him as he moved off, she looked up off toward Cassidy again, hearing a faint growl coming from her direction: that not missed but passed on. What happened after that, the other looking down to the menu, further caused Aislin to try to make it seem like she hadn’t picked up on anything: noting the others apparent embarrassment. Instead, picking up her own menu, she started to scan through the lines and further descriptions there. While a lot of things caught her attention, reading through everything and not going for anything right away was better than not. Even when she was hungry too, it took a minute before deciding on something. While not mentioning it, in the risk that it would make things worse, a general statement was still put ahead. “I think I know what I’m going to order." Some hesitation played out through half of her words, then turned to more confidence.

Cass looked up from her menu, as the waiter had walked away with their order of drinks. She glanced at Aislin who had been scanning the menu over, herself, before hearing her say she thought she knew what she wanted. A smile crossed Cassidy's lips before opening them "And what would that be?" she asked her curiously, then took her hand from her lap and tucked her blue hair behind her ear, that had fallen into her face.

Another day in Stevie's home away from home: the kitchen. Not her house kitchen, but the restaurant's kitchen. Italian cuisine is still not her strong suit, but she is learning something new everyday and the other cooks she is working with are helping her greatly. Today, one of the cooks showed her how to make a proper béchamel sauce. Equal parts butter to flour are required to develop a roux. When the butter is melted, the flour is added and cooked long enough so that the raw flour taste is gone. The milk is slowly added while whisking briskly and constantly. Once the mixture begins to thicken, the béchamel is ready and can be used as the base for any dairy based sauce, such as the Alfredo sauce for their pasta. After the demonstration by one of her cooks and before the opening of the restaurant, Stevie gathered all the employees together to discuss the specials for tonight: caprese pesto salad, lasagna with bolognese sauce made with short ribs, and tiramisu. The rest of it was routine. With Stevie in charge of the kitchen staff, she called out the orders as they were coming in, keeping careful mind to properly pace the orders and work with the front of the house staff so that they don't end up throwing a bunch of orders her way and completely back up the kitchen. With every plate that was put out on the line, she made sure they went out exactly as they should and tasted as much as she could so not a single order went looking or tasting horribly.

It may be strange for this gourmet Italian restaurant to put pizza on the menu, but Stevie knew how to make the pizza more upscale to fit the gourmet aesthetic and quality. The pizza featured in today's menu is called "carnevale". The dough is shaped into a star rather than the traditional circle. The crust is stuffed with ricotta, and the pizza itself is topped with sliced cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, grated pecorino romano cheese and sausage. Of course, she fed the cooks and wait staff first so they all can judge if they liked the idea or not. Everyone loved the pizza, so all she had to do was instruct the cooks on how to prepare it and she quickly discussed how the wait staff is suppose to talk to the customers in order to sell it. It is an unusual pizza, but Stevie felt like it will sell well. After all, who doesn't like a slice of pizza? When the restaurant opened and the front of house began selling the pizza, the feedback Stevie and the back of the house received from the customers were deeply appreciated. Every clean plate told them that the carnevale pizza was a good idea.

Stevie working hard at the restaurant. Perhaps she is working a bit too hard. This stems from her desire to impress her coworkers and wanting to learn as much as she can abut Italian cuisine given her previous work experience in Irish cuisine. She has proven herself a quick learner and capable of keeping her cool under pressure as she led the team. It is much appreciated by her team in the kitchen and by the front of house staff. However, if she continues to work as hard as she is, this could lead to burn out or so much micromanaging that team morale can diminish. One of her sous chefs brought this up to Stevie, and she was grateful that he told her. She promised him and the team that she will lighten up knowing that she has the trust of her team and they know she is good at her job. For today, she focused less on the minor details of the job and more on the bigger picture: leadership. She has to lead her team effectively and ensure the food goes out how it should. However, she will primarily focus on calling out the orders and occasionally ask for updates on food orders. Having that trust in her team certainly inspired them to do their jobs the best they can. Stevie certainly feels more at ease knowing that her team has accepted her.

Finally a moment away from his brothers. A moment away from his home office and the overly annoying work. Yeah, with being the CEO of a continually rising record label would keep one busy. Darn, even his newly bought home in the Lumiere district was finally decorated to his liking. The half demon sighed as he was sitting at his table on his own. A pair of designer sunglasses shined in the morning sun. The waitress walked over with a bottle of wine and a clean glass. Setting down on the table, opening the bottle and pouring the first glass for Abu. The half demon gave her a thankful smile and nodded his thanks to her. The waitress walked away as Abu then lifted the glass up. His lips meeting the wine glass. It was a sweet red wine in the glass. Setting the glass back down on the table, his free hand moved up to his hair. Abu's fingers racking threw his hair. Of course, the hair bounced back to their naturally styled position. A chiming sound then hit his ears. Looking over and down towards his cellphone sitting face down on the table. Giving a small sigh the half demon picked up the phone. Swiping his finger across it, placing it towards his ear.

"I ask for three hours to myself. It's only been 25 minutes. Make it good, brother Azul" Abu hummed with a slight growl in his throat. The sound of another males voice echoing from the phone. Abu sipped on his glass of wine yet again as he listened. "You could've just said she far exceeded her projected single streams and sales. Have father rework her into a higher budget. I'll be home in a few hours. Bye" Abu nodded his head as he hung up the phone. Putting the phone back down facing downward again. Now refilling his glass of wine from the bottle that was presented earlier. He needed to get out to a club, a dive bar or something more entertaining. Maybe after more work later he would do so. Maybe even go into his home studio and start work on his third album. Maybe was the key word here. The waitress strolled back over to Abu and his table. A tray in her hand, with a smaller tray full of cheeses, fruits and crackers. Setting the smaller tray down she smiled and walked away from Abu. Abu of course thanked her with a smile before plucking a grape from the tray. Popping the small fruit into his mouth as he enjoyed his time. Well started to enjoy his time.

▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄

The sun was blazing now. A bit bright for the heterochromic eyes that gazed into the distance as their owner moved down the streets of Soleil's uptown area. It wasn't a very far walk from Alex's home in Lumiere, though he was absently staring at the street ahead of him to concentrate on nothing rather than what was currently ringing through his mind. Days of emptiness, and long nights of restless screaming into the void over a past that seemed hazy at best. Whether this was his punishment for his misdeeds or merely the foreplay into his descent into further madness he could not say. Only those who spoke to him in whispers had an inkling of information to help him make sense of his predicament. She killed you...left you lonely. They are here. They left. Moved on. Where is it? Who is that in the hallway? Where is it? Where did she hide-- Can you hear us still? The screaming never stops. End it. Kill them. Look, a pigeon. STRANGLE IT. No. We are clean. Where are we? It was relentless. The bickering never seemed to end. Before he could merely frighten them into submission, but now...now he could only try and tune them out with the sounds of the outside world. Except there was really nothing in that large mansion of his to actually accomplish that. Hence the cacophonous protests late into the early mornings. Luckily for him -- as opposed to his neighbors -- he didn't sleep.

Yet, here he was. Out of the house and strolling casually down the street in search of something, ANYTHING, to cut back on the scraping inside his skull. There is no silence Alex. They listen. We hear. It's there. Burn it all down. Please don't hurt me. Fools. Get out of my head. We are your head. Can you not see? No he can only hear. Why am I bleeding? That isn't your blood. Oh, I see. Truth be told he should be used to it by now. A few handfuls of millennia were still not enough, apparently, to become comfortable with the voices. Unless he was comfortable before? And now, being of half-mortal blood, the pain of their whining had an effect on a partly exhausted soul. The red-head pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed before rubbing his eyes. The sun was so ******** bright today. Why was it so bright?

It had been a few hours since he had made it outside from his upstairs bedroom, and he was now shuffling half-heartedly past a snobbish looking restaurant. A bit cliche for...what was that? Italian? Taste of Italy. Sure it was. Still, for all his skepticism there was a feeling that had been a little unfamiliar to him now. There was a pulling at the inside of his stomach that made him pause just outside of the establishment. He put a hand to his abdomen and then looked over at the facade, scanning over a man in a loose-fitting shirt with pricey looking sunglasses. Without thinking too much about it, otherwise, he would have to listen to them going back and forth, Alex let out a small breath and made his way to an empty table outside. They must not have been very busy as a waitress came over to ask if he wanted anything. "Water...please, and uh...whatever stuff that guy has. It smells pretty good." His voice was a bit raspy. Still the same light, and slightly seductive tone he had carried his entire life if that counted for anything. The waitress nodded and left for a moment. Take her. She needs pain. Another soul. He can't eat anymore. Mana? Hunger pains. He needs souls. We need power. Take it from her. Take it from him. He has plenty. Longevity in his years aye. Egyptian? Not ancient. Half-breed. Again, Alex rubbed his eyes. When he looked up as the waitress was leaving, he made a short amount of eye contact with the man in front of him. Well, as much as he thought he could considering the shades. Would it be rude not to say anything?

Disregarding whether or not he actually had any knowledge on appropriate social behavior, Alex gave a forced smile and a slight wave to the man and, despite him being on the phone, greeted him with little more than a hello. "يجب أن فكرت في ذلك أيضا. أنت تعلم. نظارة شمسيه." His dialect was a bit off, but as far as he knew it was an automatic translation that his brain gave him. A leftover skill from his days as demonic royalty it seemed.

While he was on the phone he did manage to see some man stumble upon the restaurant he was currently dining at. His eyes concealed by the sunglasses of course. But Abu noticed every single detail. The man seemed disturbed in a way. It was rather alarming yet enticing. Abu was never one to easily frighten or anything. Perhaps because he was half demon? Or perhaps his mother flat out told him even as a half breed, no demon is allowed to have fear within themselves. Abu mentally shrugged it off. Sipping more of his wine, only to raise a brow to the mans arabic. It was a rather old word and proper form. Pretty much theatrical at this point in modern day. A small giggle escaped Abu's lips as he sat the glass of wine back down. His own waitress came back over to him checking back up on him. Motioning for her to lean closer, as she did Abu would whisper something into her ear. The waitress would nod and turn and trail off. This time instead of a grape, Abu picked up a piece of cheese and a cracker. Placing the two into his mouth. Chewing silently to himself. The waitress came back and sat another bottle of sweet red wine and a new wine glass onto the table. This time only opening the bottle for him before turning and walking off. "فقط القديم استخدام مثل هذه الناطقة باللغة العربية
"
Abu would finally respond to the man who was only sitting a table across from him. Abu would then reach around to a small black cross body bag that was dangling on his chair. Unzipping and reaching inside of it, the half demon would pull out an extra pair of sunglasses. He would then place the extra pair of sunglasses in the spot across from him. Rearranging the new wine glass next to the glasses as well. The half demon would then take the first bottle of wine and fill his glass and then the other glass. Placing the now empty first bottle to the side. Once his hand was free, he would motion for Alex to join him at his table.

"You don't have to worry about speaking in arabic. Contrary to my accent; I'm fluent in english" Abu would then advise the man across from him at the other table. Abu simply waited for Alex to join him. Considering who would deny free alcohol and a pair of designer sunglasses? Clear the sunglasses were not a cheap pair. No matter their simplistic yet elegant design. Once Alex would sit across from Abu, the half demon would also place the tray of assorted cheeses, fruits and crackers in the center of the table. Also for Alex to indulge in as well. "Much like my people and family, generosity runs through our blood. Just as much as a demons blood does" Abu would calmly yet nonchalantly say to Alex. Only to pop a circular piece of apricot into his mouth. Chewing silently and slowly before swallowing. There was an aura of elegance, calmness and beauty to Abu. How he spoke right down to how he carried himself. "You must be pretty old to use such proper and archaic arabic. You sound like my mother. It's refreshing" Abu would say to the man. His hand reaching for his own glass. Lifting the cup back to his lips and taking another sip of the wine.

Alex took a bite of some salami that had been brought out to him before the man at the other table had gathered up the things necessary for him to return the pleasantries. An offer of wine, more food, and even a pair of sunglasses? This man was a bit more curious now than he had been before. No longer a simple exchange in practiced politeness. With a slight tilt of his head, the demon prince swallowed his bite, stood from his chair, and accepted the offer without too much hesitation other than a moment to stave off the apparent burden from the sun. The redhead brought his own charcuterie board to the table and set it down next to the one that was already being picked clean of its fruits. He was more interested in the meats and cheeses, luckily for him, and snagged two slices of prosciutto to wrap some swiss into. Playing with his creation by lazily rotating it in his hands, Alex responded after he had become comfortable in his seat. "Old indeed...unlike your mother, I'm sure." He wanted it to come across as a compliment, but he was afraid that his tone sounded a bit condescending. Something Light told him that he would need to work on. Alex took a bite of the rolled snack he made, then put the sunglasses on and proceeded to stare directly into the sun with them on. A mild improvement, and for now the pain was subsiding. Why did the light hurt this badly? "Thank you for the glasses. And the extra food...is it not bold of you to simply introduce yourself as a demon to complete strangers? Don't the mortals here look down on that sort of thing?"

The Prince couldn't help but feel an odd calm when speaking to this man. They had known each other for a few minutes, not even passing names, though there was something about his presence that elicited a very laid back response from Alex. At this juncture in a meeting, he was used to prying for information, and exploiting any sort of weakness to bring out a vulnerable memory to feast upon. Yet, the surprisingly authentic-ish Italian fare was enough to satiate his appetite for now. At least when he had eaten two more pieces of cheese, drank half his wine, and devoured nearly half the deli on his own tray. Ayuba...Abu...such an odd name. Don't you think? Who's the waitress? Stephanie. Yes. Which one to take hm? No. Neither. Yes. Both? Why not. Of course, we could! His white eye flickered softly against the solid black sclera as a dozen or so images flitted across the surface. A subtle hint that his mind was at work sifting through memories. "So, Abu, why show kindness to a stranger? What host of demon do you claim to be?" A sly grin briefly appeared across Alex's features. Almost in amusement with himself, the prince plucked a grape from the other's tray and bit it in half to observe the contents within.

The half demon watched as Alex joined him at his own table. His eyes watching and studying the other male. Luckily his sunglasses were blocking his eyes. But one could tell he was studying the other. Was he drunk? Hungover? Or just sensitive to the sun? Abu's headed tilted a bit as Alex spoke up again. Commenting on his mothers possible age. Which caused a small laugh to escape the half demon. Lifting his glass again to take another sip. Yet again, another graceful movement of his made. "I'm a lady. It's rude to ask a woman her age, go play with your brothers" Abu said in a very sing song womanly voice. Clear he was mocking his mother's voice to the best of his ability. Lowering the glass back down, his finger raised ever so slightly. Gently gliding across his lips. Clear it was used to wipe away any excess wine that might've remained from the wine glass. The half demon gave a shrug of his shoulders before plucking up a grape from Alex's board with a hum. Popping the grape into his mouth once again he began to slowly chew. Only to swallow with another nod of his head. "I thought the same only a month ago when I bought my home and started it's renovations. That is until a day later; I saw an imp and a gnome making out by one of the clubs here. Or I saw a half giant and a succubus nearly having intercourse on the beach at night. So I'm sure a few demons here and there won't be any trouble to them here" Abu said with another tilt of his head. Lowering his glass back down onto the table. The half demon lifted the fresh bottle of wine. Refilling his glass before setting the bottle back down. Was this man new to Soleil as well? Well he had to be. If he was asking a question like that.

This man was fairly easy to talk to. Was it because Abu wanted some sort of break from work? Maybe this man reminded him of his brothers? Or touring management team? Or maybe the fact was that it's another demon? But who was he to question a blessing such as this? The demon raised a brow as the man said his name. Only to ask what specific demon he might have been. Abu gave a small hum again. His angelic yet haunting voice filled the area of dining. "Why? Well I'm no raging brute. Besides, it's just how my family and I are. We show kindness to a fault. Especially to people like us. You know, demons don't always get a great reputation" Abu said reaching down. This time plucking some cheese and salami from Alex's tray. Using his other hand to help roll the two ingredients into a nice and tight roll. I also don't remember saying my name. Either my reputation truly exceeds me even here in Soleil. Or we can call it, an infernal sense we would both have" Abu teased Alex with a playful voice then. A small smile gracing the half demons face. Only to have another laugh escape him again. His laugh was a blend of his accent, a sirens muse and amusement. "Host? Well, I haven't been asked that before. I'm only half demon. So beings like me typically don't represent something. Well so my mother has told me. She's a demoness who would sling hellfire at her human of a husband and her half breed children. She would also sling minor hexes and curses at us for misbehaving" Abu laughed a bit to himself. He then ate his swirl of cheese and salami. Chewing silently to himself before swallowing. "And you? Let me guess; the old world language, the brooding yet charming personality. You're either a demon lord or a herald of a demon lord. Yeah?" Abu would finish with a slight tilt of his head. Seeking the slightest bit of confirmation. His hair slowly falling over one of his covered eyes. The half demons free hand moved up to the hair. Racking through the shiny and healthy hair strands moving them out of the way.

"I see. One of those places where a fae wouldn't have to keep a constant glamour. Accepting of demons and beasts of the dark...my apologies if my reputation has made that difficult for all of you. He commented on the state of affairs in Soleil as described to him by Abu. The Egyptian made it sound as if it were just shy of a utopia for Otherfolk, Darklings, or Daemons. Whichever vernacular they used here. Though he supposed that likely didn't matter either. "I've been to places where they are slaughtered on sight. Even caused a war or two in my tenure outside of the Abyss." A small laugh before he finished off the wine and poured himself another glass, though he merely drank straight from the bottle after filling his cup to the appropriate half-way mark. This man's voice was nice. Almost quelling. It made Alex even more curious as to the plane from which his mother originated. Succubus was an obvious choice, but he was willing to bet that this was far too simple of a classification for a man of this caliber. Businessman...music producer...failed artist. Not him. Signee...successful comeback. CEO even. How deliciously powerful. He brought a hand to his temple and massaged the buzzing of the voices away as his new acquaintance asked a question of him. Though there was also the acknowledgment of the information that Alex should not have reasonably known.

Alex lifted the sunglasses he had been gifted and pulled down at the bottom lid of his right eye to showcase the unusual coloration as opposed to its bright red counterpart. "I can see things. Hidden memories...suppressed thoughts. Your most regrettable actions...the things that bring you sorrow." His face was momentarily serious before he stuck his tongue out and put the shades back into their proper place. He left the tip of his tongue just outside of his lips and leaned forward with his elbows propped on the table as he held the neck of the wine bottle. He pulled it closer to his face and then flourished his free hand in small circles as he continued on with a fanciful introduction. "Of course that means names as well. As for mine, I would properly be known as Seere, Prince of the Aldmarsh, Lord of the Endless Tower, Guardian of the Heart of Darkness, Keeper of Man's Lost Treasure. But these days I go simply by Alex Kendrall. Have for a few centuries now...since uh..whenever the French Revolution was I suppose." The demon prince stayed leaned forward, sliding his now empty snack tray aside and looking slightly up in order to meet Abu's face. Now that the sun was no longer a concern, he was starting to feel like his old self. Or perhaps it was due to the food he had eaten. It had been weeks since any sort of proper meal -- tangible, soul or otherwise. He also found it quite charming that the man would describe the minor curses of his mother in an endearing nature. Perhaps it was because they affected him very little, being of demonic heritage. In any case, it brought a somewhat permanent grin to his face that refused to leave, even as he snuggled up with the wine he sipped from directly every so often.

I was afraid of the dark,
So the darkness I became.
I was scared of my own demons,
So I learned them all by name.
I was fearful of the monsters,
So I became a monster too.
I was frightened by a ghost,
'Til I found out it was you.
