Don't forget to let her know she's loved.

Other than the obvious, how is everything? It's been a while.

Went and played Rise of the Argonauts recently.

I was expecting s**t and found it a pleasant surprise. The gist: You are Jason, king of Iolcus. On your wedding day, members of a Hecate witch cult assasinate your bride to be to escape some dire prophesy on their part and get revenge on her Father. Royally pissed and with the blessing of your four patron gods (Apollo, Hermes, Athena, and Ares), you chase them off your island and have Argus the Shipwright lend you his masterwork, the Argo, to aquire the Golden Fleece and bring your beloved back from the grave. Along the way you pick up Argonauts to help you in battle and with minor quests. You start with Herakles, which is nice, and end up with Achilles, Atalanta, and Pan among your crew of traveling companions. Not that many in comparison to the origional myths but I can live with it.

The Game' downsides were the character movements and the ocasional slightly irritating hiccup where the game had to catch up to itself. Its also without a map screen, forcing you to paus the game, dig up the map, and study it before going on your merry way which was supremely annoying.

On the upside, I did feel like I was in a retelling of a Greek Myth. You get magic powers but I rarely saw a need for them. Actions and Dialogue choices affect your standing to your four patron gods and you can dedicate deeds you accomplish to them to level up various attributes and gain new powers. You engage in a number of Greek like tasks along the way, from arguing with Philosophers to hearing cases from your own citizens and ruling on them. Combat isnt too complex, limiting you to a shield and either a spear, mace or sword to go with it. Using the Shield and spear combo for me was particularly enjoyable because I saw 300. The Shield blocks damn near everything, even attacks from the side its on when not in use, and it can really re-arrange someone's grill when you smash them with it. Then you hit the power button and run them through with the spear, flipping them over you to finish the move.

I'd rate it about 6.8/10, primarily due to the bugs and the lack of a map icon hampering it. That and I felt it could have gone further.
I really did enjoy this game though, ad now its got me wanting an RP set in the Classical Era. Hoplites, Triremes, Epic quests across the Mediterranian, sounds like fun.
That and I want to smack someone up with a Hoplon.

On a similar-ish note, I just got fallout 3, and I'm loving it. It's like Oblivion, but in a more original setting.

For those that feel like they should try and care: Grams died.

Back to the main concern: It's made by the same people who did oblivion, so it's not surprizing fallout 3 is remarkably similar... Not really original in my opinion, and honestly, i feel as though fallout three isn't as open or as varied as the elder scrolls were. or at least, the choices dont' seem so different.

But i'm not a fan of it mostly. Guess post apocalyptic lack of plot driven gameplay just isn't my thing... like fifa, it just isn't worth it. Although, i'd like to test out that Rise of the Argonauts. Sounds like a semi fun game... at least four different replays. I'm kind of in the mood to go spartan on someone, now i got the 300 soundtrack and all.

If anything, I'd say you're more in semi-awe at your own lack of emotion over it than anything else about it.

It's worse when someone dies and you realize you could've prevented it. For instance, a friend of yours finds and plays with a gun, and the inevitable happens, while you, knowing that whole " Don't touch. " stuff, could've done something had you only known they were doing that.

You aught to give it a rental, Nelo.
Not saying its one of the greatest games of all time, what with technical issues and all, but its a certainly enjoyable romp, geared for the type of people who love and know the myths but wont object over having them altered.
I about shat myself when Medea showed up out of nowhere before my trip even began, and the whole trip I was keeping an eye on her, just waiting for the moment when she would go batshit crazy.
