Lyall hopped off the little boat and onto the dock, then stood, smiling up at the teacher. They had magic for everything here! Who could have guessed he would be able to ride in a boat with neither sail nor motor? He didn't even have to row! The boy looked all around, grinning hugely at the gigantic castle. Was that Hogwarts? Would he really get to go to school in a castle?! He pushed his glasses up his nose, the lenses showing his wide eyes clearly. Hopefully they'd get to go to the castle soon!

Rider had been amazed by the whole boat ride, finding her voice hard to come by as they traveled across the Lake. She'd read all about the boat ride in Hogwarts: A History, read the rumor about the giant squid in the Lake and about the mermaids living there. The whole ride she tried to catch sight of either of them, to no avail. When they arrived at the boathouse, Rider climbed out of the boat after Lyall and stood on the dock. A light shiver ran through her, partially from the slight chill in the air and partially from the excitement of finally arriving at the castle. She smiled at her friends and said, "I'm so excited! What house do you think you'll get?!" Rider was positively beaming with excitement.

Addison climbed out of his boat, setting his feet down on the dock, happy to be back on solid ground. He wasn't exactly afraid of the boats, but he was most definitely not a lover of them. He leaned against the wall and let his stomach settle, then looked around the boat house. Everything looked like his sister had explained it. "Cool," he mumbled to himself, then smiled and offered a hand to other people getting out of the boats. Addy was more than willing to help anyone in need.

xxxTomas followed the rest of the students to the boathouses, just in time to catch the woman's instructions. He slid his hands into his pockets and shuffled his heels impatiently. This was all so new and exciting to him, that he just couldn't wait to explore more. Even his heart had started beating at a quicker pace. It seemed like he was the last person to make it, so he just took his place behind a group of random students.

Pandora rushed down to the Boathouse as soon as she could. It was her first year doing this, and to be honest she felt like she didn't quite know what she was doing. But it was her job now. This is what being Deputy Headmistress meant.

She looked over the first years and smiled. She remembered this day fondly, even though it was many years ago. "Hello," the professor said loudly to get the students to focus on her. "Welcome to Hogwarts. I am Deputy Headmistress Pandora Thorne. If you would all follow me I will lead you to the castle," she said as she headed off to the castle, occasionally glancing over her shoulder to make sure the newest students were behind her.

Dakota watched as they got closer to the docks and came to a stop. Climbing out of the boar the young boy eagerly looked around at his fellow classmates before turning his attention to the Professor. He didn't plan on starting trouble. Looking to Rider when she spoke Dakota smiled. "I'm placing my bets on Ravenclaw. Although, I have just as much chance of getting into Hufflepuff I think." he told her. "Hopefully we'll find out soon and who knows maybe we'll be in the same house together." added brightly. The idea of having friends in his house already was great however the chances of that were one out of four.

Looking over as another female professor came, this time the deputy headmistress. "This is so exciting." he whispered loudly. Following after Professor Thorne Dakota wanted to practically run. He just wanted to get sorted so that he'd know what house he belonged in. It had been one of those things he constantly questioned since the moment he learned about the houses.

Constance was amazed by everything that she didn’t mind waiting a little while when she first got out of the boat. She did however wish that it was lighter out so she could more easily see the boat house they were all standing in. Just being near the other first years was getting Constance excited, there were so many other students, maybe she’ll be able to make some good friends here.

It didn't seem that long before another teacher, the first lady was a teacher right? Well in any case Deputy Headmistress Pandora Thorne shows up and tells the group of first years to follow into the castle. It was so exciting to Constance to know her new school was a castle. It made her think of old stories her mother used to read to her about princesses. However this place was going to be more like a magic castle wasn't it? In any case Constance was excited and followed the group into the castle.

spaceDrusilla waited until her own boat was perfectly stationary before attempting to exit, thinking that it would be just her luck to stand too quickly and fall. Luckily, no such thing happened, and the Seer stepped off onto the dock easily enough. She then turned to the students, making sure that all the boats were securely docked before speaking. "Alright, everyone! If you would please be careful as you exit the boats, try not to fall or get in anyone's way, exit slowly and carefully! The deputy headmistress will arrive shortly to take you to the castle!" she announced, clasping her hands together as she watched the first years exit, ready to offer assistance if needed. Well, she thought she'd done a rather good job, then, now, hadn't she? As far as she could tell, no one had gotten lost, there had been minimal horseplay on the way across the lake... yes, she'd done quite well. Hopefully, she wouldn't be proven wrong later on. The Seer maneuvered so that she was out of the way of any students as they moved about to make room for one another, watching them all with curiosity. Not that she'd get to see many of them again for another two years, and even then, it wouldn't be more than a handful, but the new students always made her curious. Well, hopefully enough of them would take an interest in her subject and she'd be meeting them again here in a couple years.

The boat once again rocked onto the shore after a trip across the lake. There were, in fact, definitely creatures below in the water. He actually took it pretty well, seeing as both he and his brother had both expected that. He climbed off, his brother following steadily behind, just like all the other kids.

Layton followed behind his brother as he climbed off, quite content with how the trip turned out. His eyes scanned the immediate vicinity for the girl he had been talking to at the station, as it seemed she had just disappeared when they went off on the boats. Some people tended to do that, just.. disappear.

Selina was pretty sure she saw a couple tentacles lift themselves from the stygian waters her boat coasted through, and they seemed to wave in the general direction of the flotilla of tiny boats. However, this sight was nothing compared to when they rounded the shore, and she saw Hogwarts. Selina's eyes lit up when she saw the castle for the first time. In an instant she knew all the effort and pain she'd endured to get to this place were justified. For a moment she wondered if this what it might have been like arriving at the walls of fabled Tara.

It wasn't long before the fleet pulled into the boathouse, and she heard the teacher instruct them all to exit the boats as safely as possible. Selina glanced down at the furry mass clinging to her legs; she sighed and scooped the cat up, tucking her into the courier bag at her hip. Taking care not to rock the boat, Selina climbed out and onto the quayside.

'And now we wait,' she thought.

spaceMuirenn had seen the dark shadows of the boats moving across the lake from her vantage point not far from the boat house. The mermaid had smirked; her pod had known that it wasn't long before the school was once again populated (the arrival of the professors a few days beforehand was an obvious tell, as was the sudden bustle in the village). She'd been watching the surface for the last few nights, eager to get a look at this year's crop. She didn't particularly like humans, especially not the young ones, but occasionally there were one or two that were of interest. Not only that, it was always fun to terrorize them, just a little bit. She got in trouble for this sometimes, but she didn't really care; it didn't make it less funny. She'd prefer not to be seen, though; being seen typically sparked a crowd suddenly huddling about and staring at her, which was irksome. The mermaid watched the children exiting their boats closely, tail reaching up to break the surface and splash a group as they exited the vessels.

Grace watched as the castle got closer and closer. When they hit the boat house she looked around. Being instructed to get out and wait for the deputy headmistress Grace took Selina's help out of the boat. "Thanks," she said as she climbed out of the boat. Standing on the shore line she could have sworn that she heard a splash. Getting sprayed with water her ears clearly weren't deceiving her. "I'm betting mermaid." Grace said looking over at the lake. It had to be. What else could it be?
