@Poet: I will add you. ^^ It is quite sad, isn't it? I stay in contact with everyone on my list, though. I see no point in adding someone with whom I will not chat. :/

Oh, and she doesn't type it each time she posts, Poet. There is a function on the Gaia Toolbar where you can submit text that will appear automatically each time you post. It comes in handy if you have a particular style in which you post; saves you from pressing all the buttons each time. ^^;

It's to make them look good, like they have a lot of friends. Quite obsolete. No one judges you by how many friends you have, rather why you have so many friends. That's my philosophy, anyway..
