Shes offered to give it back, but she cant remember her password, and doesn't have access to that old email.

That reminds me of how frequently that happens apparently.

Specifically, someone claims to have lost the ability to log into an account they've been off of for months that has valuable items, with no way to prove it's their account, hoping someone can do something about it.

While that does happen, I can't imagine legitimate cases are that frequent, so surely some of those threads in Q&A have to really be some kinda hack attempt.
