He thinks they're Galactic Marines.

Thats right... I think of them as Imperial Marines. If you look at the armor used by the Clone Marines you'll find that its identical except for the color. So technically they're not stormtroopers... which makes some sense because Veers is an Army general and therefore rarely would have Stormtroopers under his direct command.

According to wookiepedia they are just Imperial Stormtroopers trained to fight in arctic climates, they are also known as cold assault stormtroopers. They are an evolution clone cold assault troopers. But I like stellar's idea as well, for now though I still consider them stormtroopers.

That does make more sense. Are storm troopers left over clones or recruits? I have alwas wondered that since The attack of the clones.

But only a quarter of them are still being cloned.

The 501st for a good portion of its life was almost excluisvely Fettclones.
