Hearing her silky-smooth voice in his ears made Reno feel nostalgic. For once, she wasn't abrasive or angry at him. Although it felt slightly weird to not remember her being this sweet. "Glad ta 'ear it, Kairi. Told ya you'd like it 'ere. And as fer yer question......I have no honest clue myself." Reno shot a pleading look at Tsuki and Eve, telling them to say nothing at all.

Behind her, his newest addition, the Sneasal named Tsuki stalked into the kitchen. Creeping up to Kairi's head, Tsuki poked the female Nidoran she found.

Kairi's eye narrowed slightly. "Are you sure that you don't know why you're under the table?" her voice took on a questioning tone, like she suspected that she was being lied to. She tried to shrug it off, not wanting to cause any trouble if it really was nothing. At the sound of Eve's voice Kairi whipped her head around to look at her again, trying desperately not to glare at her. "Well excuse me for not knowing what to say, and for wanting to catch up with Reno, who I haven't seen in a while," Kairi stated, her voice taking on the slightest edge.

Renata nearly jumped out of her skin at the sudden poke from the Sneasel, and the small rabbit-like pokemon turned around as quickly as possible and lunged at the Sneasel, landing on its head. Not sure what to do now that she had jumped from Kairi's head onto the Sneasel's, she just looked down and stared at the Sneasel's face, wondering why she had gotten poked by it.

"You don't know what to say when meeting new people?" Eve asked, head tilting in an almost mocking gesture, "Usually 'hello, my name is...' tends to work. Here, lemme give you an example. Hello, my name is Eve." The hybrid held out her hand, momentarily, in a gesture to shake with Kairi. However, the hand would immediately drop after she finished speaking whether the girl had reached to accept the shake or not.

"Besides, the need to catch up with an old friend is really no excuse to be rude. That's a good way to make an enemy of the wrong person."

As he removed himself from his location on the floor, Reno watched the exchange between Eve and Kairi. Once again, his thoughts were split. One side was doing the usual prayer for clothes ripping if a cat fight broke out, the other wanted to go in there and mediate this. Debating the pros and cons for a second, he decided he better fix the situation.

Walking out between the two, he grabbed both of their wrists, Kairis blade hand and the hand Eve mockingly offered to Kairi. "Listen, both a you. Kairi, try ta be a lil nicer to our present company. She`s volatile and doesn't seem all too together, but the rest a them aren't so bad. Eve, no mocking Kairi for not knowing 'ow ta greet people. We grew up on the street and the warmest welcome we got was 'aving a punch thrown at us." Reno ordered, putting on a commanding expression. Though the pair may try to struggle out of his grip, they would find it to be a very monumental challenge. Nova crawled out of his backpack also, looking right at the Leafeon hybrid, almost daring her to do something.

"Sneas," the Sneasal replied, touching the small Nidoran's paw. Reaching higher, it gave the small Pokemon a little scratch behind the ears. Picking the pokemon up off her head and placing her on the ground, Tsuki poked it in the side and began to back away, making the motions for a game of tag.

"Say hello Skarsy." Tsuki (human, not Sneasel) said to the Skarmory beside him. The bird nodded and she walked up to Kairi and have a monotone "Skarmory." before walking back to her trainers side, waiting robe pet again.

When her wrist was released, Kairi moved her hand down to lay lightly on the floor. She stared at the floor for a moment before looking at Reno again, trying to find a way to voice all the horrors she faced after he had gone. She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. After shaking her head slightly and staring down at the floor again, she tried again. "Reno... when you left... I was all alone. We lived in a bad part of Goldenrod, and... and..." Kairi tried to hold back the tears forming in her single, golden eye, "You know how the men were in that area. With you gone... they... Well, you piece it together." Her red hair shifted, covering the left side of her face, but leaving the bandages on the right side exposed. Kairi glanced up again at the sound of Tsuki's voice, and when the Skarmory walked towards her, a brief moment of panic came over her, causing Kairi to grab hold of Reno's shirt, pulling him closer to her. She moved over slightly, positioning herself behind him and glanced over his shoulder at the large bird pokemon. "H-h-hi there..."

Renata tried to keep up, but the Sneasel seemed to always just be out of her range. The small Nidoran tried to speed up, but in the process managed to trip over her own feet, landing on her face. For a moment, the pokemon just sat there, staring at the Sneasel as it ran off ahead of her. Having composed herself a little bit, Renata stood again, running as quickly as her little legs would carry her, chasing after the Sneasel.

The feeling of his arms around her was enough to calm her down a little bit, but with what she had just implied, and that fear still shaking her down to her core, Kairi tried to push Reno away. She knew that he wouldn't hurt her, not like she had been hurt other people, but her gut reaction had been to try and struggle and get away. When she realized what she was doing, that she was trying to escape from the one person who was able to comfort her, she stopped moving, giving in and allowing herself to sink into his arms. She buried her face into his chest, her hands tightly clutched to his shirt, not wanting to let go. Despite the comfort, Reno's apology for not being there caused rage to flare up in her. She bit her lip in an attempt to not yell at him, her hands gripping his shirt tighter than before. It was no use though, the hostile girl could only keep quiet for so long. "You should be sorry! You left me behind to fend for myself, to try and protect myself against... Against everything!" she shrieked, her voice muffled slightly due to her face being pressed up against Reno's chest. She had nearly choked on her words, having tried to stop herself mid-sentence and failing. Kairi's body shook slightly as she tried to regain her composure.

Renata jumped slightly when Tsuki poked her again, causing her to squeak. She went racing off after the Sneasel again, jumping forwards to try and land on the Sneasel's back, clinging to it long enough to poke the back of her head and jumping off, bolting in the opposite direction.

Feeling her fighting against his grip, Reno kept his arms in place until she realized who she was fighting against. Feeling her struggling stop, he kept her close to his chest as she yelled at him for not being there, for leaving her to fend for herself. He cringed at the implications of her words, as she began to shake against him. Gripping her close, he whispered, "I wanted ta be there, but I couldn't. When I disappeared, it wasn't by choice. Tha Mob decided I 'ad robbed them enough an' took me as a slave ta pay off the debt I supposedly 'ad." He kept her close as she regained composure, knowing right now that more than a few eyes were staring at them.

Stopping with a little skid, Tsuki turned to see the little Nidoran running away. Taking off in pursuit, she weaved around using Quick Attack before popping out right in front of Renata. Sticking a single claw out at forehead-level for the little Pokemon, Tsuki waited for her to run into her claw.
