Meaning of (name): The female name Vasilisa is of Greek origin (basilissa) and means "Queen". It is the feminine form of Vasily, the Russian or Greek form of the name Basil. There are heroines named Vasilissa in two famous Russian fairy tales, the title character of "Vasilissa the Beautiful" and that of "The Water King and Vasilissa the Wise". In both, Vasilissa is of surpassing beauty, but is also wise and possessed of magic powers. There is also a lesser-known fairy tale called "The Fire-Bird, the Horse of Power, and the Princess Vasilissa" by British author Arthur Ransome.

Vasilissa is working hard to be a good leader as her parents were. Though still young, she has a very composed air about her. Physically weak, but mentally strong she has taken up trying to learn to at least be able to defend herself.
She has a kind of intuition about others that gives her good insight into their worth/alliances. She is fair and kind-hearted when she can be, but she knows that she must harden her heart some if she expects to make any changes in life.
Backstory:
Vasilissa is proud, composed, and brave. After the untimely death of her parent's, she had to grow up quick. Before their deaths, she'd never realized there were political motives at play. Her parents (who were advocates for change) were murdered for their opinion. This has endeared Vasilissa to their cause so that their deaths will not have been in vain.
Hunted by the ones who did her parent's in and haunted by her inability to help, Vasilissa is seeking to discover the truth beneath all the lies. But will she find them out in time?
