Patrick returned back to his regular Friday work schedule at the hotel as a room service personnel and the last day of the work week for him. Today was busy because of weather since a lot of them stayed in longer and he almost missed his lunch break. Still planned to go to the park with Hiro along with an umbrella for the sun and an extra bottle of water. Stayed indoors for his lunch break rather than eating outside. Over time for an hour unintentionally, but it wasn't going to be in the way of what he wants to do. [exit]

thread enters the crowded con sheepishly. this is DEFINITELY not something shes used to but is still otherwise excited to see so many passionate people in one building “its so big.... i bet it would look even bigger without the con...” she stands near the entrance drinking it all in... she had been testing the patience of her tribes people by liking the art of the modern world. if she was ever so lucky to read a comic book it was a blessing quickly taken by family in an attempt to keep thread from being further isolated. this didnt mean she stopped liking it. quite the opposite. in the few times she read "rurouni Kenshin" she developed a crush for the handsome samurai. “what if people dont get my costume..” she thought, but quickly shook her head. it didnt matter if they did or didnt, she would have fun meeting people either way, and she was glad to have seen the con in the local newspaper.

SUPERCON! Finn was beyond excited! Given the last few days, he needed some extra fun in his life. Something to get his mind off of everything that had been happening and how he had been feeling. This was someplace that he could indulge his nerdy side and not think about anything else. At least, he was hoping for that. No thinking about his estranged wife. No thoughts of leaving again. No worrying about what others were thinking of him. In fact, while in costume, no one would probably know who he was! Walking through the front door of the hotel, he checked his prop gun with security and made his way into the venue. It was...INCREDIBLE! The booths, the cosplayers, the very atmosphere of the whole thing! As he entered, a few fan girls of the character he was cosplaying as asked for some pictures and he was happy to oblige. The friendly people made it near impossible to even think about anything negative. Would he have liked to be here with Bree? Sure! She would have had a blast as well, but he could enjoy himself alone as well. It was likely that he would make a few friends while he was here anyways. The community has always been an inviting one. His blue eyes wandered around the venue as he was handed a complimentary bag that held the programs for the event, a few badges, patches and stickers, and other little knick-knacks that were of no consequence to the beneficiaries of the event. Thanking the attendant for his bag, he picked out the program and began to wander around as he looked through who would be here and what he wanted to see. He would definitely be getting souvenirs!
"YES!" Millie shouted excitedly as she jumped off the bus and in front of the hotel. She was finally going to a con! Well, at least a bigger con than any anime-con she had been to. Plus, she usually never had any money to attend these things because she knew she would want souvenirs and food. Stuffing her bag full of cool stuff was the one thing she needed money for because there was no way she could ever leave such a place without all the stuff! She wished she had someone to attend it with, but she could enjoy herself all the same. She could do everything she wanted and not have to go around to the things she may not have wanted to. Could she be considered picky? Yeah. There were things that caught her eye and things she didn't. If she had company to go around with, she would have done it for her friends but currently she didn't have any to worry about. The idea made her take a moment to relish in the sadness that she had no friends here yet, but that was quick to disappear as a stranger dressed as a Bleach captain complimented her outfit. "Oh!" Millie paused as her face flushed. "Thanks!" She was quick to make sure nothing was exposed before marching up the steps to the event.
Millie knew that her frame wasn't exactly meant for her costume, being a bit on the bigger side, but the character was one of her favorites. The game she was representing was also one of her favorites. She hadn't been able to decide on anything less revealing and thus she was subjecting herself to the embarrassment. Stopping at the door, she let her golden contact covered eyes float around at all the bodies and occasionally catching the stares of others. She had seen other big women walking around in less with more confidence than her, she should be able to do this! She could do this! Plus, she had a change of clothes in her bag if it became too unbearable for her. With the self-confidence of a snowflake, it was likely she would fold about half way through her fun. However, she would do her best. Taking a deep breath to brace herself, Millie walked through the doors and quickly tried to put herself into her own world so she wouldn't feel so self-conscious.

Rylee gave a long sigh as she stood in line outside the hotel. Never in a million years did she think that she was going to come back to this place. Yeah, she knew that Alex no longer worked here, but it didn't stop her heart from being filled with anxiety. Closing her eyes, the tealette shook her head a bit. No... She was here to have fun and not think about Alex! She had been trying so hard and doing so well to not cave in and read through all the texts he sent her. There were so many moments where she wanted to simply walk past the house... just to look at it, but she knew that doing so wouldn't be good for her mental health.It would be especially bad if she bumped into Alex. She just... wasn't ready to face him yet... because she knew how easy it was for him to convince her to do something. She was just lucky that she had her father and Ty for support as she went through all of this. Frowning a bit, Rylee jumped a little when something was suddenly placed in her hands. Looking down, she noticed that she had been given a goodie bag. "Oh! Thank you!" She said before signing herself in, though she declined to take part in the costume contest. She had learned of the event last moment and had just bought something from a costume shop. There were likely people here that made theirs by hand and put in so much more effort than she did. Plus, she hadn't even bothered to do anything to her hair and put on a minimal amount of make-up. That and winning a contest really wasn't her priority. Her main goal was to have fun.
As she looked around, Rylee noticed how different the hotel looked, it was kind of refreshing compared to how it usually looked. Glancing around, Rylee smiled a little and stopped to compliment a couple people's costumes. Taking a second to dig through her goodie bag, Rylee glanced at the pamphlet as she walked. In hind sight, it might have been a bad idea. As she was looking at the paper, the tealette almost bumped into someone, but stopped short of running into the blonde. Letting out a startled gasp, Rylee froze. "Oh crap! I'm sorry! I wasn't watching where I was going!"
Supercon. That was a name passed around that Mako Yokoyama was curious about, so she had looked into this prior to the event. She did not find anything regarding what is taking place on Soleil, but he did find information on similar events. They are conventions where people gather dressed up as their favorite characters from the entertainment media, usually from works of fiction like comic books, video games, cartoons, etc. In addition to attendees showing up at these conventions in various costumes, there are invited guests who are a part of the media that the attendees come to see for the chance to meet them, ask questions, take pictures, and more. It is also common that costumed attendees will also receive attention from the others in a similar manner to the celebrity guests depending on the quality of their costumes. It would be a good opportunity for Mako to meet other people on Soleil, but should she dress up as a character? To get into the spirit of this convention, she should. However, which character should she go as? She has delved into the world of comics, cartoons, anime and other fictitious works, so it should not be too difficult. What can she do with not too much time to prepare?
With a little more research, she found a character that she believes she can properly portray in terms of appearance: Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell. She wonders if she has to act out the character at this convention, but perhaps through observation of others will allow her to determine this. For now, getting the look correct is vital. She already has the right hair color, so that saves time and money on a wig or hair dye. The back of her neck has a device planted there that allows her to maintain her human appearance, so she can take advantage of this and claim it is a part of the costume. The majority of the time, money and effort was spent on the clothing portion of the costume and the prop guns. She shopped for what was needed to create the costume, then left the rest of the work to her assistant Calypso. On the day of Supercon, Mako got dressed in the costume made by Calypso, put on the appropriate makeup and styled her hair to look like Motoko Kusanagi. After eating a light breakfast and brushing her teeth afterward, picked up her prop guns, holstered the pistol and wrapped the strap of the rifle over her left shoulder, she took one of her motorcycles and made the drive to Saisons de Amour.
To say that Mako's appearance caught the attention of others would be an understatement. At first, it was the loud noise from the engine of her motorcycle made as it got closer to the hotel. Once the motorcycle was parked and her helmet removed, fans of Ghost in the Shell looked at Mako. As she made her way to the entrance to the convention, those who were waiting in line with her began speaking to her, clearly expressing how much they love how accurate she got the Motoko Kusanagi look. Mako returned their appreciations with "Your welcome", several photos and a few autographs. This is a good start for Mako. When she made it to the front of the convention entrance, she had her prop guns checked to make sure that it truly fake. As soon as her prop gun was returned to her, she was finally inside the hotel where the convention is taking place. What she saw inside did not come as a total surprise to her. The fundamentals of a convention like this are what she saw through her research, but to witness it live is a different experience. The people here are dressed in their favorite characters, although seeing their actual faces, the interactions they are having with one another, the vendors selling various goods related to comics, anime, cartoons and all other works of fiction are a sight to truly behold. She also noticed other vendors offering simple foods to keep the attendees going. In general, they are good that do not require utensils, although some might be messier than others. For Mako's sake, she will have to choose something that will have the least amount of success in ruining her costume and makeup. Now that she is inside, what should she do first?
"This is fascinating. I wonder if I will meet others who are like-minded. Should I wait for someone to talk to me first or should I be the one to take the first step? I've only just arrived, so it may be to my benefit to continue exploring and get my bearings."

Finn was so impressed with everything that he had to take a moment to really take everything in. How could one not stop and soak in the atmosphere? There were so many people, so many booths! Where was he going to start? Feeling a grumble in his stomach, maybe he should start with some food. Looking through the program again, he wondered if they put a small map in it or something. He knew the hotel was big, but he wasn't sure just how big. While keeping focus on where he could grab a bite, he almost didn't notice the woman about to run into him. She had caught herself in time and thus avoided an accidental collision, but she still felt the need to apologize. Finn laughed humorously and waved off her apology. "You didn't hit me, so no harm, no fo-" he stopped abruptly as he got a good look at the woman under the Team Rocket hat.
Squinting his currently blue eyes, Finn tried to piece together the woman behind the glasses. Aqua hair. He knew someone with that kind of hair, but it was longer. "Rylee...?" he breathed questionably. Was it really her? He hadn't seen her since...Well, since he fired her about a year ago. Even so, he could still remember how upset she had been when they had that conversation. If he remembered right, that had been her first job. "Wow! You look...-Well, you look different. I like your hair! I think it looks more like, you," he stated with enthusiasm at seeing a familiar face. Finn was happy to see a familiar face in the crowd, not even a little phased by their tangle at the candy shop. It was something he had to put behind him now that it was not only under new management but he wasn't even with his wife anymore, so why hang up on the old things?

Blushing a bit as she fidgeted in place, the tealette felt bad about having almost run into the male. Sure she stopped herself, but she still hadn't gotten used to the kindness of the people in this city. She was still accustomed to the rudeness of the big city. That and working as management for a hotel meant she had to deal with some angry customers like the woman that insisted that she should get her room for free because the complimentary towels weren't 'fluffy' enough. She didn't mind dealing with them though... It kept her distracted.
Looking at the blonde in front of her, Rylee wasn't quite sure what character he was cosplaying as. The Pokemon games were really the ony ones she played if she were being honest. Hearing the male say it was no big deal made the young woman relax a little bit. "Yeah, but I should probably still pay attention." She chuckled softly before a confused look crossed her face. What? How did they know her? Staring at the male for a moment as he complimented her hair cut her eyes would then widen with realization. "Finn?!" She said in surprise. When was the last time she had seen him? Oh... right... when she got fired...
A moment of shame filled the young woman before she tried to shake it off. That was a while ago and it didn't seem like Finn was holding any sort of grudge against her. "It's... been a while. How have you been?" She asked curiously.

Kos had never actually been to a convention before, at least not for the likes of pop-culture and such so when his wife implored him to attend with her he was overjoyed. The gigantic mechanical man immediately set about forming a costume based on one of his favorite oldschool mecha properties, even using real metal in his showy display. Kos's size, mixed with his unmatched ingenuity allowed him to recreate the uber-sized combat unit in great details with all of the time they had since she told him it was coming some time ago.
It was an occasion where standing out wasn't odd, and where his nature as a robot might actually fit in with those around him. It would also allow him to spend more time with the woman he loved, and perhaps make even more friends they could get to know and truly become apart of their new home. Once the day arrived and it was time to go Kos wasted no time driving himself and Kaylee there.
He strolled through the doors with his wife on his shoulders, and instantly the jovial mood of it all hit him. He set her down "Alright! Lets have some fun!" a common proclamation, but this time he was sure Kaylee would be surely able to break out of her shell. It actually didn't take long for some of the older people to get his costume and ask to snap some picks, and Kos leaned heavily into his character unleashing a loud and victorious "DANGAAIIIOOOH!" for their entertainment. He was sure this would be a great day.

Kaylee was super excited about the convention. As soon as she saw the first poster advertising it, she got started on making her costume. She didn't let Kos peek at it once during the process. She wanted to wait until the actual day of the convention for him to see it. When that day came, the raven haired young woman was so excited she could barely get her costume on, having decided that she was going to dress up as Wonder Woman. Dressing in the hero's costume, she stared at herself in the mirror and giggled excitedly. After showing her costume off for her husband, she quickly urged him to head towards the door.
Sitting on his shoulders, some of Kaylee's excitement faded as she saw all of the people. Gulping nervously, she glanced down at Kos and gave a small smile. After thanking the attendant for the free goody bag, Kaylee would blush a bit as some teenagers asked her to take a picture with them. Shyly nodding her head, Kaylee smiled for the picture before she scurried over to Kos's side. Looking up at him, she smiled a bit. She was happy to see that he was just as excited as she was. She wondered what kinds of souvenirs the vendors had. She was definitely going to go home with something!

Esmée chewed on her chocolate malted milk balls as she looked up at the hotel. She figured since it was uptown it'd be fancy but she wasn't expecting it to be so big. The witch had heard one of her neighbors mention a convention and that piqued her interest. She had never been to any kind of con before but she did know it was a good place to gather if you liked games, comics or anime. She supposed there were other things to do as well, but she hadn't looked that far into it to really know what those things were. So having nothing else to do today she got dressed and hopped on her cherished motorcycle to ride up. It was way better than to use the bus as she had a strong dislike for public transportation, that and it was nice to feel the wind blow through her hair. She gazed around at the various people dressed up in many different costumes. If she had the terminology correct then it was known as cosplay. Her eyes did manage to spot people cosplaying characters from some of her favorite video games. Finally deciding to step inside, she let out a low whistle at the way things were set up. Though she figured from her past experiences with events around the city that when whoever was in charge decided to do something fun, they went all out so she wasn't all that surprised.
Not really having a game plan in mind Esmée opted to just wander around till something caught her eye. As she walked she made sure to compliment the nicely made cosplays of strangers she pass. If they worked hard on it, then they definitely deserved the attention. It made her wish that she dress, though she didn't actual own any cool costumes. Now that she was thinking about it she did have a witch costume that she bought because it was funny, though she didn't really know where it was. She became lost in her thoughts as she managed to dodge a few people, however that didn't last forever as she ended up bumping into a woman from behind. Shaking her head, she quickly went to apologize, "Ah I'm so sorry I wasn't watching where I was going! Are you alright?" she asked in concern, though she also took a quick glance at the woman's costume. At the least the parts she could see from her vantage point. The outfit looked rather familiar but she just couldn't place it. Maybe if she saw the stranger from the front it would come back to her.

Kos looked down at Kaylee, though it was easy to see she was still being a bit shy about the whole process. He was proud of her though, especially as she spent so much time working on her costume and she looked wonderful in it. He was sure that a place like this might be able to make her up up a bit though.
Kos got his own goodie bag and began to moved around with Kaylee looking at all the booths and things they could take home. He leaned down "Don't be afraid to ask for something, it'd be a shame to go home without a souvenir." he chuckled "And just have some fun. " he said looking around.
He tried to think about what he might buy "I might get some figures or something for the office, or the bedroom. I'd think they would look nice don't you?" he thought.
