No, that is impossible. The main idea of Democracy is to allow the people as much freedom to do what ever they want. If you do not make a capitalism or commercialism possible, it crumbles.

Democracy in the ancient world was simply giving power to the people and taking it away from the aristocracy. Damn good system. Sure it did lead way to commercialism, in Athens this is, but yeah. I'm more praising of the Roman Government system Republican Rome that is. 3nodding

What I was going to say last night, but did not get time too is this.
In todays world, a republic and a democracy are two different sub-heading. Republic refers to the type of leader you have. The USA is a Democratic Republic, while we are a Democratic Monarchy.
Thus, you could have a Communist Republic.

Ah ha! Some one does not know their geography. Estonia is a Baltic state, not Mediteranean. It is located towards the northern quaters of Europe, but it is not the northern most country.
