Aphelion was holding back a large grin. As it was his lips tilted upwards slightly, betraying a hint of his mirth. He gave a small shrug, quickly banishing the little smile before it could give too much of his amusement away. “I have great deal of manners. It’s not fault you can not recognize it. If I didn’t have manners I would have told you your hair looks like straw. But I didn’t, did I?” The Fool was definitely pushing it, but this was quite fun. “You’re not annoyed with me are you? Of course you’re not.” He gave her a lopsided grin. One of his pawns was moved forward into battle.

Violet Darkstarr Velvet barely felt his touch on her arm, her claustrophobia had too strong of a hold on her for her to fell anything but suffocation. She followed slowly as he pulled her along, her eyes slightly glazed, not really seeing anything until the cool night air of the courtyard hit her face. Gulping hungrily at the fresh air, her fear begins to ebb away, bringing her back to her more controlled, rational self. In some ways she felt better for having told him now, in others… but better not to think of that, lest it would start all over again. She sits on the bench and crosses her legs, leaning forward slightly to study the flowers around her, sneaking sly glances at him to make sure he was still there and wasn’t going to leave. “I’m sorry you had to see me in such a state. It must have been… uncomfortable.” she smiles at his words and looks up at him, tilting her head slightly. “Is this to mean you’ve become my protector?” she giggles softly. If only… His lips turned up in a wry smile as he shrugged noncommittally, still gazing at the sky. "A protector of sorts, I suppose." He breathed deeply the cool night air. He enjoyed this courtyard the most. The air was always sweetly perfumed with the blossoming trees and it was deathly silent most of the time. Most small creatures learned long ago that this was not a place to tread and any birds that wandered here never returned from whence they had come. Ranoll's home was a place of death and a place to be feared by outsiders. He chuckled softly under his breath. Yes, the protector of one, while the bane of all others. He glanced back at Velvet. Yes... the protector of one, he reaffirmed himself. She seemed so fragile now, a delicate flower. Ranoll spent his entire life around creatures too strong to need him, and here now was this beautiful creature that had fallen apart before him over dessert. He turned towards her, gazing at her fully. He reached out to her and stroked her cheek softly. "In this place, you will always be safe."

Viray gritted her teeth. What did he just say? STRAW?! She pawed at her hair, trying to show off its luminescence and sheen. Oh why bother? She glared at him, a growl growing in her throat. "My hair does NOT look like straw," she squeezed out between clenched jaws. Her knight was out into the battlefield in a flash. She slammed the piece down rather hard, but didn't take her glare off Aphelion. "I haven't seen any manners from you yet." She strummed her fingers on the table impatiently. What made Mother like this creature? And why on Faetasia did Father ever agree to keep him here? She sighed. She'd never understand her family.

Aphelion gave a wide, wide grin. “Of course it doesn’t look like straw. Who said it did? I certainly didn’t. But wait, you did.” He frowned at her, slowly shaking his head from side to side, making the bells on his hat jingle merrily. “Tut-tut, my dear. You should give more compliments to yourself. I give myself compliments all the time. Such as ‘you are so grand Aphelion’ or ‘Aphy, you’re so handsome’.”
Without missing a beat he moved another pawn forward, not even glancing at the board. “But it’s probably easier for me, since I am all those things. I wouldn’t want you to have to lie to yourself.” Aphy leant towards her, giving her a worried frown. “Are you keeping up my dear? I do hope I’m not talking too fast for you.” By all appearances he must have appeared an addle-brained twit. Such a fun role to play!

Fatal Irony His lips turned up in a wry smile as he shrugged noncommittally, still gazing at the sky. "A protector of sorts, I suppose." He breathed deeply the cool night air. He enjoyed this courtyard the most. The air was always sweetly perfumed with the blossoming trees and it was deathly silent most of the time. He turned towards her, gazing at her fully. He reached out to her and stroked her cheek softly. "In this place, you will always be safe." Velvet presses her cheek into his palm and closes her eyes. She trembles softly at the gentle touch. “Physical pain does not scare me. Anything physical is only temporary. Whether it’s pain or pleasure, the feeling can be there one moment, gone the next, or slowly fading with time.” She raises her head to look up at him, the white mask of fur glowing on his dark face, his white hair an eerie halo around his head. He was breathtaking.
“I may have my weaknesses, but there is only one way I can truly be hurt anymore.” She stands up again and moves toward him, pressing her body against his. She trails her fingertips up along the outside of his strong arms and brings them to rest on top of his shoulders. Strange as it was to her, she was quickly falling for the raccoon. She had to know if he felt the same way. Her dark eyes lock with his light ones. “And right now, just one word from you could have the power to kill me.”

Her touch sent shivers running up his spine and he felt weaker than he'd ever felt before. Her nearness thrilled him, the warmth of her body sending him into a swoon of desire. He tried to clear his head. What was this female doing to him? He took her gently and held her at arms length reluctantly. He looked at her a long moment but found he wanted her close to him more than he had wanted anything. He studied her face, then drew her to him again, pulling her chin up so she looked him in the eyes. He said not a word, but pressed his lips to hers. What a night! He felt lighter, stronger. What was this? He pulled back from her, laughing. He bent and lifted her up into his arms and twirled with her merrily. Was this any way for a demon to behave? Oh if Malum could see him now, how his brother would mock him! Ranoll didn't care. He growled defiantly into the air, smiling at the beautiful stranger that had walked into his life.

She hadn’t realized she had been holding her breath as he studied her until he pulled her close again. She gasps in a breath, her heart pounding in her chest as he lifts her head. It was as if time stopped at the moment his lips touched hers. She could still taste the faint hint of chocolate, and she didn’t think she would be able to eat it again without thinking of this demon. In that one moment her mind was set. She would never be able to deny this one anything. She links her arms around his neck as he spins, tossing her head back and squealing with delight. Never had she dreamed a wrong turn would bring her such happiness. When he puts her down again she smiles up into his dark face. Caressing his cheek softly for a moment, she raises herself up onto her toes and kisses him again, sucking softly at his bottom lip for only a moment before she pulls back again. She’s panting softly, but she barely notices. She giggles softly and then turns away; starting to walk farther up the path they were on in the courtyard. She clasps her hands behind her back and tosses her head to peek back over her shoulder at him.

Sylwia gave a small smile at the compliments she was given from her mother and her older sister. "Thank you mother, Pydra." She stretched slightly, resting her arms behind her head as she looked at everything around her. Everything looked so different now from when she was just a baby. "Mother, I wish to stay with Pydra until I am able to leave with my sister. She and I have always been together and I do not feel it would be right to leave her now. Besides, Pydra might be able to use some help with the young ones."

"Stay if that is your wish." She waved a nonchalant hand towards Sylwia as she turned away from the pair. She started to walk away, but paused and tilted her head to look back to Pydra. "Daughter, won't you join me in the rose garden a while? There are some new bushes starting to grow. I could use your hands." She turned back and started off, confident that her daughter would follow.

Pydra smiled at her younger sister, "Sylwia, you have always been so loyal." Her harsh cold tone softened as she turned towards her mother. She was quivering inside from fear but she knew she must tell her mother. She stepped forward, her voice strong as she spoke. "Wait mother. I will not be following you. There are eggs for me and Sylwia to attend to besides Churel and Marcus' girls." Pydra took another step forward. "I have three eggs soon to hatch." Her voice was calm and she was thankful for her sister standing at her back. She turned to Sylwia, "I do hope you will help me keep watch."

"More eggs?" Sylwia changed her gaze from her mother to Pydra, not expecting to hear that news from her. "You have three eggs of your own? Since when?" She turned to head back to the small cottage-like nursery. "I want to see them, Pydra!" She gave her older sister a bright smile, something rare for her to give to anyone but Viray. "I'd love to help you take care of them."

Adonnenniel stopped in her tracks and swiveled around to look at her daughters. She focused her pale eyes on Pydra and took a few steps towards her. "I DO hope they don't belong to that Nalenth," she said calmly. "Nor any of his kin. Useless male, if ever I knew one." She folded her arms across her chest, her face unreadable. "Perhaps not completely useless. The boys are good strong males. But I digress. Tell me Daughter, who is the father? I must know." She seemed to look at Pydra with new eyes, as though truly seeing her as a woman for the first time. For so long Pydra had tended the roses with her, even as a baby. And here she was about to have children of her own. This wasn't the first time Adonnenniel had to face this, and she was filled more with pride than anything else. She was always happy to see her family grow and thrive.

nekolulu Cleo walks around forest surrounding the castle, she blinks climbing a tree to get a better look at the castle she smirks wondering what lays inside, she listens with her ears and watching for anyone or anything that may be around to rip apart. Malum wasn’t sure how she had gotten so far into the forest, but she had somehow slipped past his guard. Though she certainly wasn’t about to walk in the front gate of his home, for Malum, even just being in the forest was much too close. The demon gave a loud snarl at would have made most kats curl up and cry. Oh yes, he had her scent. His body tuned into the hunt, ready to tear the intruder limb from limb. Dark eyes narrowed he set off, heading directly towards her tree.

Cleo hearing something that sounded like a snarl she smirks again knowing that something or something had picked up her scent, looking around the forest, still not seeing anything she watches as a bird flys close to her head she snatchs the bird out of the air with her paw, she starts to squeeze it watching at it trys to get away

She was always happy to see her family grow and thrive. Pydra had the sense to be nervous, as she wrung her paws tightly. Her voice was slightly quivery as she turned to her sister and gave her a weak smile, "I thank you Sylwia, it means much to me to have you in their lives." She then turned to her mother. "No he is not their father. They.. they don't have a father." She looked at the ground full of shame for what she just said. She looked up at her mother tears welling in her eyes forcing as much strength into her voice as she could. "Their mother is a strong courageous woman. She wants to raise our daughters together, here. That is if you would allow it. Mother, I am in love with a woman." Pydra had never before felt so frightened in her life and had now just told her mother the biggest secret she'd ever had.
