Actually depending on strength of force, angle, and other factors, a punch can be a lot worse. For example, Your weight x velocity of your fall may be less than a punch due to the fact that you can only fall a certain speed since you do not have jets or anything else to increase your speed of impact. James, however, could exert more strength due to his vampiric abilities and he doesnt have things impeding him such as wind resistance and the items which I explained above.
