Hey guys, I love meat!

I mostly have stopped eating meat. It was not because I felt sorry for the animals, but because it made my stomach sick.

I do eat bacon though... delicious. The problem is that I do feel sorry for pigs. Although they're traditionally thought of as dirty, stinky beasts; they're actually just as intelligent (if not more so) as dogs, have long-term memory, and are very emotional.
With the recent discovery of a life-long illness I have that can be irritated by eating bacon, though, it looks like I may have to stop if I start having problems with it.

Cats are basically the only ones that are pure (or close to pure) carnivores. They thrive best on 50%-90% meat kibbles or raw diet. Dogs are more of scavengers and omnivores, so even a 50% diet is too much for them. Around 25%-30% overall meat intake is the best.

Bare in mind that these animals do not have the same aspects in their nutrition as humans. All the grain does is provide carbohydrates which have a less importance in the diet and metabolism of cats and dogs. Protein is the most important in their diets. And yes that means meat, poultry, fish, and eggs are the main sources.

Which is why it recommended that you feed them a diet that does not have a lot of grain in it. However, a lot of pet food companies use corn because it's cheap and "fills up" the animal. So most of the food is a corn based food with a bit of meat and bone meals thrown in to make it supposbly "balanced".

The vegan food is a bad choice to feed to a dog or a cat. Plus, several of the ones I looked at listed avocados in the ingredients which are toxic (often fatal!) in cats and dogs. You would have to give them dietary supplements to make up for what isn't in these foods. These are quite expensive. (prices ranging from $13-$30 per bottle..yikes).

There's people who feed raw. I know someone who feeds their dogs raw meat. Usually, chunks of beef or chicken quarters. She feeds them for 6 days in a week and has one day without a feeding. Her dogs seem to do pretty well on this diet.

I can feel sorry for some of the cruel treatment of the animals..but still eat meat...mainly my limitations are I wont eat carnivores,or baby animals..or dolphins

Oh, man, deer sausage is one of the best things I've ever eaten. I don't know what it is about it, but it's just that. . . certain gaminess to it that makes it so delicious. ♥ I haven't had it in years, though, 'cause I now live half a state away from the only person I knew who made it. X3
