Phoenix Xander General Form: *Gaia Name: Phoenix Xander Real Name: Erik *Age: 26 *Location: Pacific Northwest, USA *Languages spoken: English, French, Esperanto, and some ASL *Languages Learning: Latin, Old English, and thinking about Spanish Hi, I'm new to this guild and Gaia in general. I double-majored in linguistics and French, and I've used Esperanto since I was 18. My main focus in linguistics was on historical linguistics, but I also really liked phonetics and phonology. I thought this guild looked cool! smile
Welcome! We do indeed have a Latin learning thread, but it will (hopefully soon) undergo renovations. Furthermore, I planned on doing an Old Norse thread, which is at least related to Old English, so you may find some mild interest in that.

Gaia Name: PurpleIceMelody Real Name: Cassi (Nickname Melody, or Purple) Age: 22 Location: USA, Louisiana Languages spoken: English, very little Spanish Languages Learning: Spanish, Japanese, now I want to learn Hebrew.
I came here looking for a place to practice Spanish conversation, but now I want to continue learning Japanese (my brother and friends taught me a little, now I'm hooked.) And also I need a place to go for time I have to translate something German my friend said or something I want one of my characters to say. And now, because of my boyfriend, I want to learn some Hebrew.
I also really like learning about the origins of words. It's rather fascinating to me. Also, as an English major and author, I need to check up on English rules. So I came here for that, too.
I'm so impressed at how many languages some of you on here have learned/are learning. I feel like I'm shooting for such a small goal compared to you.

Welcome! There's no such thing as a small goal. A goal's a goal! And besides, when you fulfill that goal, no one says you can't set your sights higher. ;}

*Gaia Name: Chirapaq Real Name: Ani *Age: 21 *Location: Maryland, USA *Languages spoken: English *Languages Learning: Spanish and German
I've learned a bit of other languages like Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, ASL and Esperanto. I love culture and learning languages but never kept myself motivated. I was always on and off with Spanish. I studied it in school for two years and practiced it after school on and off. Only if I can stay at it.
I love German. I remember I use to think if was so scary to listen to but now I love how I speak it and I like how it looks and sounds. I'm not very good with it yet though.
donate: towns and zOMG collectables
Ahh, maybe we can find a way to keep you motivated. I find it's always fun if I have someone to speak with.
I don't know German very well. I've learned Dutch first, so when I do speak German, I have a Dutch accent. ;p Ich bin nicht ein Holländer. (The little bit of German I know.)

When I was on a site speaking German, someone from Germany said I sound as if I was from Germany. But that's only because I LOVE how it sounds and was able to change my accent (which I usually can in any language I try) and it was really easy German.

*Gaia Name: Azula the Phoenix Queen Real Name: Lili *Age: 23 *Location: New Jersey *Languages spoken: English and French I also studied Spanish, German, and Russian in school. I can still speak a little Spanish, but my Russian ability has diminished greatly - I can still read and transliterate very well, but I can't really speak it. *Languages Learning: Currently, Japanese. I'd like to pick up Korean and Gaelic as well.
I've been pretty good at languages for most of my life, if I do say so myself. Largely, I chalk that up to a very sensitive ear - I'm also gifted in music. For my senior recital for college I chose songs in eleven different languages - Italian, French, Portuguese, Spanish, English, German, Norwegian, Russian, Czech, Korean, and Japanese.
I was very close with a gifted linguist for several years, he taught me everything I know about the subject. He was always mad at me because he was the one studying the languages, but he had a terrible time learning them, where I would just pick them up from hearing them. xp
I'm so excited to have found this guild!

Master Huntress Munashii Ciao! [Hello!] I'm Master Huntress Munashii, but people usually call me Munashii for short. I'm turning fourteen this year, but don't look down at me because of my age. I'm most likely more mature than you think. I live in the U.S. and I sadly only speak one language at the moment, which, you've guessed it, is English! I know a few words in Portuguese because my mother is Portuguese, but I'm nowhere near fluent. I'm trying to learn Italian, but it's difficult because I've been learning on my own.
This is the most active language guild I've seen so far, so I figured I would give it a shot and join. Hopefully I'll learn a lot more than I would by myself. Can't wait to get started in the guild. (:
Welcome! I'm sorry to say that, because I'm the one doing the Italian thread and several other threads at the same time, progress is slow. I've given myself too much to do at once, so I apologize for that. Eventually, though, there will be more to the lessons!

That's quite alright! It's a lot for one person to do multiple languages and a bunch of guild stuff at once!
