((Sorry everyone got sucked into a heat wave and didn't dare to start up the mac))
Ute sort of rolled her eyes. She had heard many times that both her and her mother resembled Savitri. She licked her dry lips for a moment before answering. "She has yellow eyes." She said quietly, starting to feel dread fall over her. What if they never found her mother? Would her corpse become one with the sand and never be found again. She swallowed back her worry. "I can only guess she'd go not far out of the boundary, but I just don't know..."
She lowered her head through a gust of sand and began to walk along the borders now, farther out past them on the outskirts.
............................................................................................................
Zii was laying, half of her body out of the shade now, as she felt the heat stealing her life from her. She shifted, trying to pull herself farther into the shade, though she was so close to the stony wall she wouldn't be able to get much relief. She stifled a sob, only for the fact she would never see Kich, her mate or her child again. Oh Kich. She felt immense sorrow at leaving him behind. She had pulled her through hard times and in the end they were devoted and in love. And her child, Ute.
She felt anguish grip her delirious head. She gazed back at her crushed hip; her yellow eyes soft. Death by heat... she wasn't sure if that was how she wanted to go. But it could be a good death; she supposed. Just at that moment, she thought she caught the sound of something from above. She lifted her head, listening. Nothing. Though she was certain of it. "H-H-Help!" She cried, desperation clawing at her now, she sat up on her front legs, back legs dragging and useless.
EDITING In as I misread some stuff and didn't realize the boy was there with her LOL
It seemed like suddenly Zii was in the presence of a cub. She was wide eyed at him, her yellow orbs blood shot. She recognized him but... she couldn't recall much at that moment in time. "Child." She said softly, looking relieved. She flopped down onto the ground, glad; so glad that at least someone was there with her. She wouldn't die alone perhaps? "Child... Where are your parents." She said quietly, her numb back legs sprawled this way and that.
"Child. I am injured... I need help."

[/progressing plot forward <3]
They were still skirting the ravine when the cries finally hit Ea's ears. She paused for a moment, sensing a familiar tingle rush across her back. That sense of knowing. She'd always been a savvy cat, but it wasn't a skill she often welcomed. The echo floated up, but it was unintelligible. A ringing on her ears. She turned curiously to Fia, and snorted out a breath of hot air. "Did you hear anything just then?"
The wild cat leaned forward. The ravine was a steep drop, full of sand and long shadows. It wasn't something you went down without reason. It had never been known to hold any water, despite the depths it descended. Surely there was no reason for anyone to ever-
Ea paused, and lifted her head up. On the other side of the ravine, the second group was coming into view. Veru seemed to have the same interest in the crevasse, with Vlam following shortly on his heels. Ea turned her head back towards the group, and gestured with her head to the long dark drop. "It looks like we're all converging here."

Canicus was silent as ever, his interest in the small snake disappearing as he padded along with his eyes wide and searching. His ears were practically quivering with the extent of which he strained them to listen. His gaze caught sight across at the other group coming into view before it descended upon the deep ravine, and he frowned. It was deep and uninviting, even though it held the deep shade that often never found it's way to the desert.
Canicus slowed and then stopped, gaze shifting as he waited for commands of what to do next. He even slowly sat, though his gaze never remained in one spot for too long. (OOC: also which colorist colored the snakes? I'm sorry if I've missed this information on the front page -coughs- I didn't seem to see it.)

Fia's body tensed, casting a glance from her sister and down into the ravine. In response to her question, Fia gave a short nod. "I think so, yes. but surely she wouldn't...you don't think...?" She took a step back as if worried she might go toppling over and glanced up to look across to the other side. The pale shapes of Veru and Vlam were not hard to spot and neither was that of Vesta, trotting eagerly along with them.
"It does indeed. Perhaps they heard something, too?"
She hesitated a moment and then carefully drew up to the edge again, seeking a way down. It would be difficult but not impossible...so long as they were careful. "I...don't know this place too well." She admitted. "If we manage to climb down, is there a place less steep that we could climb out of? If Zii is down there...hurt..." She couldn't imagine being able to drag the fully-grown female up such an incline without doing further damage. Pushing aside the negativity, she padded a few steps to the left and found a ledge just a short step down. If she had judged this right, it would be possible to hop down the ledges and get to the bottom.
But yes...getting down was one thing. Getting up again...She didn't fancy being trapped down there.
On the other side, Vesta - smaller and lighter - had already hopped down to a lower ledge, clearly preparing to reach the bottom. Her courageous act was somewhat inspiring if a little reckless.

His ear twitched, trying to hear. No, he didn't quite hear anything. Then he went up to Ea and Fia. "Well, not to make matters... WORSE... But I seem to have lost Rowtag." Which, considering Rowtag's size, meant he couldn't be too grandly far. At least, he hoped not. Bodaway may not have been able to kick his a** anymore, but that didn't mean his adult sons and daughters couldn't.
---------------
The juvenile let out a light huff, then hurried around Zii, batting one of her forepaws. "They're back with the pride. I came here with Kosuke, your daughter, and three of your sisters, and some others." He looked her over, careful not to touch any part that even just LOOKED bruised. "Doesn't look like you can move..." He let out a puff of breath, red eyes returning to her face. "I can get you help." He then turned, running into the sunlight. When he looked up, he noticed how sharp the ravine actually WAS. He'd NEVER make it up that! And yet... Everybody was up there. "HEEY! DOWN HERE!" He scrambled onto a rock, hoping to make himself more visible. "SOMEBODY! DOWN HERE!"

Azar followed behind her siblings, keeping up with them she was worried beyond belief. she was very close with her sister and she would be devastated if she didn't make it. She was hoping that that wasn't the case. She was really hoping that she her sister was missing and fine. Or even if she was hurt she didn't mind as long as her sister was still alive she was happy. She had spent a lot of her time with her sister since she was much younger. But where was she now, and was she okay?
As she wandered she flicked her ears around listening. Her ear's perked up as she caught a sound, the sound that the others heard. She moved toward the ledge and looked at her sister's with a worried look on her face. "If worse comes to worse couldn't two of us go down there and try to get her out?" She asked, hoping it was an idea that could happen. She was pretty sure that her sister wouldn't be able to answer her question, but she asked anyway. She moved toward the side and paced for a few moments. She was close to moving to the side of the ledge to hop down but she watched as Vesta begin to head down. "If you need help call up!" She told the other female hoping she she could manage safely. She didn't want anyone else to be hurt in the process

"Miss Zii, hey, I'm right here!" How could she miss him falling over her legs like that? Unless she couldn't actually feel her legs at all... He looked the adult lioness over, for a moment marveling just how much she looked like his half-sister, Savitri. Then he realized... She was fading. The juvenile turned and ran out into the more open part of the ravine, looking up. "HEEEY! SOMEBODY! DOWN HERE!" It was then that he saw just how sharp the drop was here. How would they make it down? And how would he make it UP? ((CRAP I totally read your last post wrong. I'll edit my one above so it involves your boy more. Forgive me xD))

[[ Safaia colored the snakes <3 ]]
"Well, don't everyone go launching over the ledge," Ea snapped. She paced along the jagged face, tracing pathways down the rock and sand below. Unfortunately, much of the hard stone was covered with sand. That made going through it rather dangerous, as the sand easily concealed what was not solid ground. The medic narrowed her eyes. "The last thing we need is everyone falling down there and breaking all their legs!"
But apparently, she should have been screaming it. Vesta was already jumping down onto a ledge, and shortly after, Veru followed suit. Vlam continued to pace at the top- clearly leery about the situation.
"Oh, those two idiots!" Ea grumbled. "We might as well just watch where they fall, that's where Zii will be."
No sooner than had Ea said that, a call echoed up from down below. For a moment Ea thought it might have been Vesta shouting. But it was a bit high pitched... and then it came again! Ea's fur stood on end, and she leaned partially off the ledge. There was someone else down in that ravine, and it wasn't Zii! How many lions were they missing down there?! Either way, they were going to need more than Veru and Vesta to muck around down there.
And they'd probably need a medic. Ea sighed. "Alright, let's just find a path. Don't everyone go falling, or I won't care enough to help you." She paced the length of the ledge for a moment, watching one just below them. Then, with a disgusted grunt, she hopped down.
Still a long way to go...

His ears flicked, and then he went over to the ledge and looked down... And felt his heart sink to the pits of his stomach. "ROWTAG?!" What was he DOING down there?! But.. He was moving around... "How did he get DOWN there..?! You'd think we'd hear him fall, or at least yell when he fell!" The great red lion paced a bit, considering jumping down. But no... He'd either die, or may as well die due to how battered he'd get.
The bird hopped to the ledge, looking down. "Well, it looks like he's in one piece, at least." But how HAD he gotten down there? Unless... She looked up and down the ravine, then motioned with a wing. "Before everyone gets themselves killed, why not go find an easier way down further down the ravine?" She looked up at Ea. "Provided, of course, you can 'understand my squawking'... Which eagles do NOT do, THAT is something the lowly seagull will do." She paused. "We shriek."

Well...since Vesta and Veru had decided to take the dangerous route, Fia decided that they could take a little time to find a safe way down into the ravine. She didn't really fancy taking a tumble and breaking a leg. After all, being a Historian in these times was bad enough, let alone a wounded one!
She paused long enough to let Ea take the lead, pausing to cast the eagle an angry look. "What do you think we're doing, you stupid bird." Digging her claws into the rock, she sucked in an irritated breath and followed after her sister, moving carefully and being sure to test the rocky ledges before setting her full weight onto them. It was going to take some time but...at least it was safer than the mad pair across the way.
"With any luck." She mumbled under her breath. "We'll find that cub and Zii."
By this time, Vesta had reached the bottom of the ravine having daringly leapt to the bottom - sliding the last few meters to the bottom in a rather ungraceful heap. She landed hard, seemed surprised by the pain that jarred through her front legs and blinked to gather her bearings. Only then, looking back up, did her act truly sink in. Overcome with a wave of nausea at her own fool bravery, she took a shaky step away from the steep side of the ravine and forced herself to focus. Now was not the time to lose her nerve! Besides, she'd made it! Everything was fine!
She'd heard the call of the cub, the voice shrill and echoed against the walls of the ravine and, with dust stirring beneath her paws, she took off.
It did not take long for the small, timid cat to find the wounded Zii and the cub who had discovered her.
"Zii'moto!" The name burst forth from her lungs and echoed oddly all around. For a terrible moment she feared the worse. She was lying on the ground, her legs sprawled across the stony ground. "Zii'moto!" Drawing alongside the lioness she touched a gentle paw to Zii's nose, sparing a glance at the cub. "Well done on finding her, little one." She looked nervously back, seeking the others. "Hang in there, Zii. Help is on the way."

Ea squinted her eyes at the squawking bird. She still couldn't understand it, and quite frankly, didn't care. Ea had never seen the point in establishing a connection with another species. No hadn't exactly sent a good precedent. If her mother didn't care, why should she? Judging by Fia's reaction, Ea deduced the situation. "Damn kid, someone better make that bottom of his red," she growled. As she continued her descent, she watched her paws for any missteps. The last thing the pride needed was its only medic down the ravine.
"You two better be careful!" Ea shouted across the ravine. But given the rate at which Vesta and Veru were descending, it didn't seem like they heard her.
---
Veru was doing his best to keep up with Vesta. He was a brazen fellow, but she was moving fast even for him- and the entire affair was a rather risky series of jumps to uncertain platforms of sand and rock. It was similar to the terrain he'd grown up in as a child. A little more dangerous. But he did his best to try and envision home, and not think about the sand slipping underneath them. Three ledges became four, and the few times that it felt the rocks were giving away, a quick jump to the next stopped the fall.
But towards the end the rocks seemed less stable. Suddenly, Vesta lept from the rocks she was on and plummeted towards the bottom. It wasn't far enough to seem deadly, but it must have hurt. At least it looked like it hurt from where Veru was standing. He scrambled down the rest of the rocks, landing in only a slightly more glamorous heap at the bottom of the ravine. He snorted as dust clouded his throat. "You alright-?" he asked. Before he could get a response, there was a shouting sound from across the dusty bottom. It sounded like a cub.
Shaking off the impact, Veru followed Vesta through the almost alien landscape. The sand at the bottom of the pit was soft and powdery. As they moved, it seemed to kick up and float around them in the shafts of light. Halfway across the ravine, Zii'moto and the cub came into view. As Vesta attended to Zii, Veru looked over the cub. "Hey little man," the lion thrummed. "You alright?"

Rowtag watched in mild amusement as they all climbed down. When Veru approached, he looked up at the adult. "Of course I am. I took the easy way down up that way." With a paw, he pointed far up the ravine. "Of course, I also found these awesome old caves... But I think only your heads would fit." He'd not fit again after much longer, unless he found a badger or something to widen the openings. "I think it'll be easy walking to go back that way, though, on the ravine floor to get where I came down at. It's just sand down that way."

[[ And moving forward again <3 We'll assume Zii has fallen unconscious.]]
As interesting as the small caverns sounded, Veru doubted they'd be much help. At least in this situation... and it didn't look like Zii would be able to stand on her own. Trying to go back up over the rocks with a lioness slung over their backs was another accident waiting to happen. There was only one direction to go in, and that was towards the 'easier' way. Veru had a feeling that might have been a bit of a misnomer.
"How does she seem?" He asked Vesta, looking over the collapsed lioness. It looked as though she'd fallen unconscious. Her back-legs seemed to have sustained the most damage from her fall. The white lion was no medic, but it didn't look all that good.
Just ahead of them, a loud crack echoed through the rock walls. A stone had fallen from one of the ledges Ea had been standing on, and it served as much of a signal of the other group's arrival than anything. A few clumsy hops and the black lioness reached the bottom of the ravine with a puff of dust. She gave a few short, quick coughs before running over to the crumpled form of her sister. "Zii!" Ea said, her odd eyes fluttering about in frenzied concern. "Alright, just stand back and give her some room!"
Veru scooped up the cub and took a few steps back, allowing Ea a wide berth as she did a quick examination. Ea was mumbling things to herself, and it was hard to determine what her investigation found between the curses.
"Someone is going to have to carry her. We need to get back up top and to the wards," Ea instructed. She turned back to her group, that was still descending for aide.

Zii had lost her ability to understand what everyone was saying around her. She simply lay her head down, comforted in knowing her family was with her. She would not die alone if she did die. She shut her eyes and lay breathing, not wanting to waste effort in staying awake any longer. If the gods were to take her, take her now. She could hear familiar voices, a sibling no doubt.
She felt oddly happy as she fell into unconsciousness.
............................................................................................................
Ute was starting to lose all hope. Her mother couldn't be this far. She had kept a quick pace and a heavy heart for a while now. Not until she paused, her ears wrenched forward. Did she just hear something? Voices? Shouting?? She began to quicken her pace, her eyes widening as she could clearly hear voices.
She was lucky she was so observant. Her paws came to the edge of a ravine, her blue eyes looking downward. She couldn't see anyone from where she was, but she could hear them. "HAVE YOU FOUND MY MOTHER?" She called into the ravine, sweat starting to draw on her brow.

Vesta shook her head. "I...don't think she's very good." She was bound to be dehydrated and weak and with her legs looking the way they were. She cast a worried look across at the white male, the concern clear in her eyes. "But...I'm no medic. We need."
Ah, perfect timing!
She stepped aside immediately to make room for Ea, respecting a medic's need for space and watched silently as the female carried out her quick examination of her newest patient.
A moment later and Fia arrived on scene, pausing to call back to the fretting Ute. "She's here. Just here." Then, with a slightly annoyed expression, she drew up alongside her sister. "Just wonderful...as if life hasn't been tiring enough as it is without--" She cut herself off sharply. Now was not the time.
"Okay, I'll help carry her. I can't do it alone, though." She cast her eyes around her. "Who's going to help?" And, with a short nod, she moved across to her sister and prepared herself - both mentally and physically - for the long haul back.
What a day this had turned out to be...
