"Coming!" Asami called out to the apprentice medic. While the Firekin was technically younger than Asami, they were still relatively close in age. Being the only other healer there, she felt a dedication to stick with a like-minded lion.
The red lioness crept close to the edge, crouching as she peered over it. The pouch in her mouth feels large, heavy, too heavy to throw.
However, the lioness managed it anyway. Asami backed up a few steps, pulling her head across her body, and then jerked around, pouch and all, to send the item sailing towards the ledge.
"Catch!" she yelled as an afterthought. Not waiting for the fear to sink back in, Asami charged for the edge of the ledge and towards the rock below.

It was nice to have an actual Medic with them on this journey, though she knew that soon, soon, she would become an adult herself and do the real things like Soleil. "I hope this goes rather smoothly, Asami, or there will be a lot of patients to attend to back at the site, ya know what i mean!?" She called out loudly to her friend so she could hear and giggled and the tuft on her tail puffed up again, have a blast with the adventure already as it is. To her, her family was strange , really. She was the third cub in the litter, the third eldest, a middle child. Being of that position as a daughter, was was most weird was that she would be the first Medic to be in the family. She knew her family were shoving her to become a soldier or guard, maybe even a hunter like her mother, but no, she wanted to become a Medic ever since she helped that one medic with a familiar. For now, she had to focus on the task at hand and help everyone as the could to the other side with only a uncut body or just a sting from hitting the water two hard.

Veru tread water, making sure that no one was drowning on impact. There were a few that seemed less pre-disposed towards swimming, but all of them had been escorted by someone who did. He appreciated the show of teamwork. At this rate, they were going to completely demolish the other two teams! He could only imagine that bit of nothing they might be finding.
With only a few stragglers remaining on the ledge, Veru took to swimming. It wasn't something he had a lot of practice in, but as a rogue he probably had had more opportunity than most firekin to experience it. He felt more top heavy than he remembered- probably because when he had last really swam, he hadn't had his full mane in.
The pocket of water was about thirty feet across, but it felt much larger with nothing to grip his paws into. Occasionally he dipped his head beneath the water, trying to get a look at what lay below. The water, unfortunately, was still too cloudy. He thought he might have seen some leafy debris. Probably from a flash flood sometime in the past month.
Finally, Veru reached the edge of the pool. There was a steady slope of rocks leading up back to the top, where the rest of the desert continued. It shouldn't have been too difficult to get back up there. Digging his claws into the soft rock, Veru pulled himself back up. He opted not to shake himself off. He might have looked ridiculous, but at least he'd hold onto the water longer.

As soon as he reached the other shore, Moe crawled out and shook off, before glaring back at Luut. "Yeah, you claw at that water, you big red brute!" He then looked up at Veru. "YOU wouldn't be so mean as to throw a jackal in to test the waters, would you?"
A couple times, her own head dipped below the water, but it was more because it felt rather amazing. When she finally reached the shore, Arevik, too, shook her coat out, then looked at herself. For a moment, it looked as if her coat had a green tinge from the water, but she soon determined that it was simply the light reflecting off of the pool onto her white coat. She shoved Moe back in the water for a moment, then turned to Luut. "Come on, Luut, you're almost here!"
Why did he come do this again? Luut looked around for a moment as he paddled, spying his cousin Volkeno swimming. Show-off... She was having a MUCH easier time than he was! He shorted water out of his nose, expression less than happy, as he paddled for the shore. He soon felt the sand and mud under his paws as he pulled himself up out of the water, his sopping wet mane weighed down with water. The two-tone lion stood there for a moment, mane in his face, staring at Arevik's big laughing grin, before he began to shake himself out, mane to tail, thoroughly soaking anybody who may already be dry near by.

Swimming, huh? Eld padded closer to the edge and followed the example of the ones that had jumped in before him. He couldn't say he was an experienced swimmer, but after the initial shock of cold and surprisingly hard water he did okay. It felt unreal to be surrounded by so much water, and he hurried to head towards where Veru had managed to get up. He tilted his head this way and that to try to get the water out of his ears. It was a strange and unpleasant feeling.

It was deep, and she was already half-way to the other side where the others would end up. Grabbing the sash of her back, she tossed it over and it landed on the sand, scooting the cub on front of her with her nose, making them go faster. She wanted to get across because this water was not to be taken lightly and anyone could be caught up by it. Almost to the edge, she shoved the cub right on it and sighed, stopping in her place and looked back, waiting for the others to come their direction for she was wanting them to continue with the rest of the group. Climbing out, she sat down until she pricked her ears as they moved about. "Please, calm your voices for a moment and listen. Don't you hear anything?" She said in a whisper and heard the same sound, but much more louder and much more clear as it sounded within the whole place; an animal making a hooting sound. She knew it was an owl and looked to Veru. "Its an owl, sir, which is strange. Their nocturnal creatures and they only awaken at night, and what is more strange is that its in a desert because the animal is a forest creature." She said, curious about the owl and wanted to know where it was to examine it more.

Mat glanced behind her as something bumped her rump, and with a grin she recognized the medic who told her she'd get a prize if she crossed. She was helping her! Good...she was starting to get a bit achy.
By the time they reached the other side Mat was exhausted, but she didn't let it show. She shook herself to rid her fur of the water and sat down, glad that she was one of the first across. She'd get a bit of a breather before pressing on.
Kasoro backed up as the bag was tossed, catching it a bit awkwardly in his mouth. He set it down once he did and waited for the lioness to reach it before turning to look at the water. He let out a slow breath before leaping in, hoping the last of them would follow. He really didn't like swimming, he decided, as he made his slow and awkward way across the pool of water.

Morag scowled as she stared down at the ledge, watching the group make their way down and into the water. As much as she had been looking for a way down, she hadn't actually wanted to get INTO the water.
Grumpy that Veru had opted to slog through the water instead of find a way around it, the spymaster followed suit jumping to the rock and down to the ledge in turn. The sound of splashing as lions jumped into the water made her roll her eyes with a wry smile and she slid into the water with something akin to grace... Considering to was a bit of a drop.
The black lioness's sleek form made the crossing quickly and efficiently, strong paws heaving her out the other side where she shook the water from her coat. The others might let the water linger, but she didn't care to look like she'd been drowned.
Taking up a position to the side, Morag kept watch while her kin pulled themselves from the pool.

As the animal made its sound one last time, it went silent and she sighed. It was gone, so she had no use to try and find it, even though if they could capture it she could find ways to make it useful other than food.... Putting the bag back around her neck, she looked to see almost everyone was across and once that was complete, they could move on to their journey some more. It was nice to be in a group for once and thought for a moment, hoping her mentor was alright, and greatly wondered more if her mentor was in one of the closest groups so that way, when they could get back, she could greet her and continue planning the next steps of her training! The tuft on her tail puffing up like a rabbit's tail, she giggled softly as it twitched a lot, her being lost in thought.

The sound continued to echo. Two short hoots, and then a loud bellow. Veru shook his head, thrusting some of the hair from his eyes. There was no sign of whatever the creature was...but he had a suspicion it wasn't an owl. "The water probably attracts all sorts of creatures," he said. But the mission had been to chart the land, not interface with whatever creatures were calling this part of the ridge home. "Lets get on our way. We'll have quite a bit of walking to get through between here and-"
Suddenly, a large rock landed in front of Veru. He blinked in surprise, wondering if the path leading up to the top had started to collapse. But it seemed to have come from the other direction. He pushed it curiously with his paw, before another stone flew down- this time, knocking him on the head.
He was starting to get a sense of de javu.
The hoot rang out again- and this time it was pretty clear who was doing it. A pair of dusty, thirsty looking baboons rested on a protected ledge back on the side of the ridge they'd just left. So thin they might have been shadows, their large eyes practically bulging from their jaunt skulls. They didn't seem happy.
Also, they were armed.
The first baboon picked up a large flat stone, and then chucked it into the water. They were trying to hit the lions still swimming!

If it rolls on a 1, a small stone bonks you on the head.

In hindsight, it had been a silly idea to try to get the water out of his ears while he was still in the water. Despite the water sloshing around in his ears Eld could hear a splash that sounded different than the noises from swimming lions. What the? He wasn't sure what the danger was, but if Veru told them to get out of there it was time to get going.
A small stone swished past his head without hitting him, and he scrambled to get out of the water and away from the baboons. When he had solid rock under his feet he turned his head to growl at them, and then had to duck as another one was hurled his way.

This horrid scent of angered baboons came through and she knew there were still some lions in the water. "Whoever is swimming or still needs to, its time to hustle since the situation isn't looking to good!" She called out and started to help with moving the slowed ones, wanting to get this hurried up already. Dodging a few rocks chucked at her, she looked towards Asami's way and knew she was going to make it, so she started following Veru, but kept slow to make sure everyone was out of the water and away from danger, since the baboons' were getting hostile at them. "Follow the leader and get to safety, everyone!" She called out again and kept to the back, wanting to make sure that nobody was harmed on the escape.

Volkeno got to the other side of the water with relative ease, pulling herself to the shore almost reluctantly. Yes, she found she really enjoyed swimming, and it was such a shame to let a good thing come to an end just because of something silly like reaching the other side. Still, she didn't want to slow down the exploration, and she knew she couldn't spend the rest of the day just floating around in their new little discovery.
For one thing, Ubawa would kill her if she tried. She also wanted to see what else they might be able to find as they continued. If they had already found something as great as the water, who knew what else they would be able to stumble across! The thought excited her as she turned her dripping head back to look at her grumpy companion. She she watched him near her, she spotted a relative nearby. True, a lot of lions in the pride could be considered her relative, but some she knew more than others.
She offered Luut a peaceful smile, sure he would be able to get across the water as well.
"Come on, boys," she teased lightly, "we'll never get this done with you guys just playing around in the water."
Ubawa would have snapped at her, if a rock hadn't plopped down into the water beside him. Blinking, he tread water the best a lion could for a moment as he looked around to see just what was going on. It became apparent very quickly that some baboons were having a spot of fun- it looked like they were tossing stones at them. And for what reason? Just because they had thumbs?
Little snots.
"When I get out of this water-!" he hissed darkly, though he was not sure who he was threatening- the baboons, or Volkeno.

(rolling for Baise)
Nkera paddled forward, looking angry at the world in general. When the lions at the front started to pull themselves out of the murky water, the Guard looked thoroughly relieved though the expression didn’t last long. He froze, halfway through his climb to dry land when the hooting began, mouth twitching in a silent snarl. He followed Veru's gaze upwards.
“I’ll kill them.” He said viciously as he pulled his back paws out of the pond and took a good look at their attackers. How dare they attack such a large group of lions! It was unforgivable. The Guard waited for orders – or at least one that would make more sense to him – eyes fixed on the baboons on the ledge.
--------------------------------------------------
Baise could barely hear the voice of the other lioness over the ruckus she was creating. Like she’d been told, the white lioness kept her head high above the surface but her head would still submerge for a second when her lack of skill willed it.
“I am running.” Kinda. She more like sprinting underwater as if her life depended of moving her legs as quickly as possible. Water was splashing in every direction until she realized she was supposed to move slower. Well, no one had told her that before!
"What's that sound?!" she asked with difficulty right before something whizzed past her head. "Something almost hit me!" Her eyes widened as she spotted the baboons and the huntress clumsily made her way to the rest of the group and pulled herself out of the water. "Bastards."

Mat ducked as something bonked their leader on his head. She watched as Veru gazed up and followed his line of sight, catching an eye on the things that had hooted. Baboons! She stood, curious, but ducked again as they started to hurl more stones at the lions still in the water.
"Hey! That's not nice," she said, growling in a horribly adorable way at the pair on the ledge above them. "You could hurt someone like that!"
A splash made Kasoro nearly slide under the water as he looked around, blue eyes trying to lock on to where it had come from. Another splash, this one a bit closer, next to a few of the lions a few paces ahead of him. Rocks! Flying rocks! Curse those thumbs...they could get some distance without even trying. Kas focused his eyes on the shore - he was so close! - and was rewarded with taking his gaze away from the danger by one of those projectiles hitting him square on the head.
He floundered for a bit, trying to get his bearings again and ignore the sting before his paws finally brushed the bottom. He dragged himself out of the water and lifted a paw to rub his head, checking for blood. Nope...just pain. He glared up at the baboons, growling quietly. It's not as if they were planning on sticking around. Greedy little grubby hands.
[...Kas is just getting the short end of all the sticks today XD]
