He still looked and looked. It felt as if hours had passed. It had to have been at least an hour. Should he give up? No he wanted to be a hero. He knew for sure if he find the cub he would be one. The cold air caused him to flinch and reminded him that he would soon be a popsicle hero.
He legs began to hurt. He wasn't used to walking so much. He would have been taking a break from walking by now if it was a normal day. Instead he find himself slowing down every few minutes. He had to remind himself to keep moving.

It had taken a lot longer than he liked to get this far into the lake. He still couldn't see across the lake either. He kept his trek froward, swallowed down his nerves. "Come out of the fog, little one," he spoke again. Maybe the cub wasn't here either... He hated walked across this slippery surface... He hoped the cub would be found soon!

While Matunda brushed aside some of the grass and found nothing yet again, she wondered where the cubs' parents had gone. Sloppy, wasn't it? Coming to a brand new pride and not keeping an eye on one's cubs. Naturally, they'd want to go exploring and to look for little ones their own age. They must've been disappointed; cubs were scarce as of late.
The parents better be searching too, she thought to herself. It would be ridiculous for them to be standing idle while everyone worked! Matunda felt like slapping them around the ears a little.

Sheer stubbornness and determination was all that kept Hans moving through the snow and ice. Of course he called it perseverance. He at least had to thank his brothers for teaching him that. Hans was very competitive and very driven towards his goals. That's why he would never quit.
However, he sure hoped the brat would be found soon. If he did come across the cub, it would definitely test his patience to not shout at the youngster for wandering off in the first place.
With a hidden grimace, Hans continued his search.

It seemed as though the search was going to be endless. He had to find the cub though. If no one found him what would happen to the cub. He could get injured or worse. Kaveh moved faster out of worry. If they didn't find him soon it would prove his accusations to be true. "Cub!"
He ran past trees thinking he might of saw something but it was just a bush. He rushed up thinking he had finally made it high enough looking down. He saw lots of animals but they were all to big to be the cub.

Sven sighed and poked his head under a bush, trying to think where a cub might like to hide. Had something spooked them? Was it because it was a new home and they didn't know where anything was? He really didn't know. But he wondered if they would come out on their own eventually.
Certainly, it seemed their coaxing wasn't getting them anywhere.
Frowning, he sat himself down, looking around again. "Come out, little cub!" He called again, "I will get you a big fish if you come out!"

Looking around in grass was getting boring. The bright leopardess sighed, and sat down to focus on the sounds around her for a while. But there were so many creatures rustling around and calling for the cubs that if they were scurrying around giggling anywhere, like this was a big game of hide-and-seek, there was no way to tell. Maybe the cubs were doing all of this on purpose.
Matunda's naturally grumpy face grew even grumpier. These cubs needed a good swat on the rump after this, too.

Ezen sat still for quite some time as the others searched, but still they hadn't flushed the cub from the woods. He frowned a bit and flicked an ear in irritation. Perhaps she had gotten hurt? Surely that couldn't be the case...she should have called out for help. Unless she really had gone out on the ice and fallen through a fisher hole...oh dear.
He turned to scan the ice, but no. There was no flailing cub. Perhaps she'd already sunk.

He had made it quite far into the lake before he felt he should turn back. He didn't think the cub would roam out this far, especially with the surface so - well, maybe they would. He was just scared, and the thought of falling in terrified him. He turned to the side, making his way towards the edge of the lake, though further in as well.
This was harder than he thought!

Sven took a moment to recollect himself, lying himself down and rolling himself onto his back. He looked up at the sky, trying to imagine everything from the perspective of a cub. If he was tiny and scared, where would he go?
He had already looked under the bushes. His eyes wandered that direction again, a sigh escaping him.
Even while he was upside down, they weren't there. He probably should have been anticipating that.
Flopping over onto his side, he raised his head, resting a moment longer before the hunt continued.

There must have been some other way to find the cub. It wasn't seeming a little ridiculous how long it was taking. It seemed like he as playing a game of hide and seek and this cub was really good at hiding. Maybe the cub was playing hid and seek with them.
That was another explanation for why he wasn't responding to everyone calling out for him. "Come out come out where ever you are." He said pretending to play along if he was right about the game.

"Oh great," Matunda exclaimed as her foot slipped on a rock and broke through some thin ice into the cold water underneath. Immediately her toes were soaked to the bone, so she pulled the paw out of the cold as fast as she could, and shook droplets off of it.
"Nice, real nice," she continued to complain, as the grass she was looking through became a makeshift towel. She wiped her paw off as best as possible, and decided to move away from the lakebed.
Perhaps she'd find the cub in the remaining snow dunes. The snow at this temperature would be good for building dens, so maybe they'd be hiding in there.

Matunda was more than happy to get away from the mess that was the lakebed, and onto more solid ground. Or so she thought. The snow was wet and her paw was now starting to freeze.
"Great, great, great," she repeated, limping around towards the most obvious piles of snow. She stood on three paws, looking as forlorn and surly as she could. Maybe she should have just stayed in her den.
