Where other lionesses might have seen Andhaka's shadow, he clearly didn't spy his own. Instead a large...flying blob. Luckily it blocked out some of the stars so he could make it out even in the darkness. Wait...is it getting bigger?
"Watch out!" Imbali cried as the form became clear to her. This vulture seems to be mad at Andhaka and was currently making dives at the Umholi and the other nearby lionesses, all the while snapping it's beak angrily. Squawking loudly, it made dives at the group. Maybe the hunting party was snooping too close to its nest of something, but it definitely doesn't want anyone nearby! It's definitely time to move on as fighting an angry bird didn't seem like the kind of 'grand hunt' any of them had in mind. ______________________________

Something jumping out at him, Andhaka might have been prepared for, but there was little defense against something that could fly, something that could fly and apparently happened to hate him very much. He ducked when it dove at him the first time, only for it to come at him again. He tried to swipe and snap it it, but lost his balance in the process and got nothing but a face full of dirt.
"Dammit!" he spat, hissing displeasure at the feathered shape. Fantastic. Very dignified. He was so going to kill Bangizwe for getting him into this.
The sudden, violent appearance of the vulture spooked Uheshe, who backpedaled and tried to stay well away from the creature's ire without taking her eyes off of it. This turned out to be a mistake, as she backed right into Imbali. The palomino lioness yelped in surprise and lurched to the side, only to go down in a tangle of her own limbs.

She watched as the the the red male stopped and she froze along with everyone else and it would seem everything was fine until a very angry bird came swooping down at everyone. It just wasn't her day it would seem because it dived at her and she tripped trying to avoid it. It would seem she'd be collecting more damage from simple wildlife than actual prey.
She looked over at her sister rather pitifully as she tried to regain some form of dignity having just been stung by bees AND tripping because of a very angry vulture.
Her nose still throbbing from the bee, Udaka squinted in the darkness to make out the angry bird. It was...oh no. Swooping right for her. This really wasn't her day. She ducked quickly, feeling the air above her woosh as the bird flew by, but she over balanced and fell right on her already throbbing nose.
"Stupid bird," she growled, irritated and angry now. She rubbed the dirt off her face, trying to avoid her tender snout now. Fighting this hippo wasn't going to be easy if her mouth was sore. Hopefully by the time they arrived to their destination she'd be a little less beaten up.

Inkungu's comment made Sturm glance behind him for a moment, away from the little bugs. Not-males? Oh! "Yup, that's me," he said with a grin. Thankfully he was too much of a happy-go-lucky guy to take things to heart if they were said without tact. "Just here to help out where I can."
Sturm grinned back at Sobala who also noticed the fireflies. Great, he wasn't alone! And that meant he wasn't seeing things. That would be one heck of a way to start off the hunt...it was important to be on high alert at all times, after all!
Just as he was thinking that commotion came from the large body of lionesses not far to his left. He quickly glanced over and could see a bird diving and darting at the heads of those gathered. Hey now, that wasn't very nice!
He jumped into action, trotting back over to the lionesses and waited for the best moment to distract the bird. As it swooped near him he jumped up, swatting at it. He completely missed but definitely drew the ire of the creature, as it banked sharply and swooped for his head.
"Whoa!" Sharp talons reached out and raked through his mane, pulling at his fur painfully. The body of the bird bumped into him and shook a feather loose, which remained tangled in his now disheveled mane.
"Jeez, that thing is nuts!" he said as he lifted a paw to rub his aching head, discovering the feather that was pretty stuck in his mane. Oh well...it was a cool little thing to have! Maybe it would bring him luck like the fireflies had.
Kokumo had lagged far enough behind to have at least a little warning before the angry bird started attacking lions left, right and center. When the violent little thing came her way she was able to dodge away from both beak and claws. A single feather floated slowly to the ground and on a whim she picked it up.

There was little time to interrogate the exotic Ahluke since there was some kind of commotion up front and the male ran towards it. Inkungu decided to follow. Sturm took the better part of the attack and the lioness just had to duck for cover. She turned and snapped after the flying menace, but the only thing she caught was a loose feather.
"You okay," she asked Sturm, a feather hanging comically from the side of her mouth.

Ilanga was surprised when Andhaka suddenly started shipping and snarling at a shadowy shape, in fact she was so distracted she wandered closer, curious, only for the feathery attack to turn its attentions to her too! Helping she darted away and to the side, very nearly slamming into one of her pride sisters in the process. Cursing under her breath she looked round for her own bird. "Idla!" She hissed, not wanting her loyal friend to get into an air-born war with the feathery intruder. And why did it seem to hate their Umholi so badly??

Sobala had been beside her sister, trying to sooth the bee stings after Yimvelo's rather unfortunate discovery. "Are you ok?" Over her sister's head she spotted Andhaka, and then several of the other females, being attacked by a shadowy menace from the sky, "A vulture?" She questioned, frowning as it dived again, suddenly she body-slammed into another lioness and helped in surprise. "Ack! Sorry!" She had best be more awar from now on, that could have been very bad if it had been during the real hunt!

In the midst of all of the commotion, Isidlo had been thrown from the perch she had claimed on Cinga's back as several other lions had collided with Imbali. Upset, her feathers fluffed and with a screech she latched onto the much grayer vulture. Their talons scraped at eachother, sometimes locking only to repeat multiple times over. Feathers fell and the sounds of the two vultures fighting filled the night air. The two tussled mid-aid for what felt like minutes but were only truly seconds and then it was over. The strange vulture flapped its wings once more before soaring out of view and out of being a threat to the group.
"I'm fine, are you two okay?" Imbali quickly replied to Sobala and asked her and Uheshe.
After shaking the dust from her coat, she glanced around their surroundings. Even in their haste to get away from that horrible thing, they had managed to stay on course. Shaking her head eastward, she motioned for the group to follow. "This way. We're still a ways off." ______________________________

Udaka watched as the two birds fought in the air, the screeching horrible but well-deserved since it sounded like it was mostly coming from the one that attacked them. She snorted as it flew off. Good riddance.
As the group pressed on she drifted a bit closer to the front of the group, hoping that she might find better luck up there to stop tripping and getting hurt. She didn't get hurt, but she did have to listen to Imbali talk about how great hippos were. Joy.

Sturm glanced at the lioness as she spoke to him, and his snicker answered her question. Yes, he was fine. "You got a dangly bit," he said, motioning at her jaw where the feather hung. "I do too!" he added, batting at his own impromptu decoration in his mane. "Maybe they'll be good luck! Although you might want to move yours, it doesn't look like it's gonna stay too long."
As the group pressed on Sturm did as well, humming to himself happily. For a few moments he became distracted by a strange smell that he followed into some bushes. He discovered it was just a stinky toad and quickly backtracked, jogging to catch up with the group again.
"So what's your name?" he asked once he trotted up alongside Inkungu. "I'm Sturm. Kinda new here, still getting to know everyone."

Uthuli blinked. She didn't know what had happened. Everything was a blur, a feathery blur but a blur nonetheless. Vultures had swooped at her and then it was just a mess. Snapping back at them was not very fun, but luckily she managed to get out of the mess at some point. Only she was behind the others now and had no idea where they had gone.
Panic swelled in Uthuli's veins, "Guys?!" She blurted out, her eyes widened with fear at haven't gotten lost. Then she managed to catch faint scent of the party in front of her. They were a bit far away at this point, but luckily she figured it would be easy enough to catch back up... ooc: -1 RoO, -1 NH

Ilanga glanced up again only to feel Idla thankfully return, landing with her usual care on the lioness' rump. "Be careful up there.." She murmured to her friend, cautious now that they had been attacked once already. They had only just set off! Glancing round Ilanga blinked, eyes squinting. "Hmmm... Is that what I think it is?" Idla launched once again as the lioness trotted off to one side to where she had spotted a certain plant growing. "It is!" Grinning she grabbed a mouthful, tearing it up carefully so she didn't destroy the entire plant, before returning to her fellow pride members. "Ood 'ind. Is ood or us." She mumbled from around her prize.

Sobala nodded to Imbali. "Yes, sorry about that..." After making sure the other lioness was alright as well after their unexpected collision, she started to turn to her two sisters, but then paused, head tilting. "I hear elephants." Grinning she glanced at Yimvelo. "Maybe one day we will hunt one of them hmm?" Laughing she flicked her tail. She was mostly teasing...
"I'm sure I'll be okay, they just smart a little. What about you though? Are you okay?" She asked since her sister had pretty much bulldozed right into the Cinga. What a fine hunting party they were turning out to be right? She was sure by the time the hunt started tomorrow she'd be in much better condition than she was now.
She heard a flap of wings and looked skyward expecting to see that angry vulture again but she realized it was just the Cingas guide and she relaxed. "So we'll definitely have some interesting stories to tell, don't you think?" She said looking at her sisters with a soft chuckle. The only thing they could do is be optimistic at this point.

She heard Uthuli's panicked voice and looked behind her and chuckled. "Don't worry Uthuli, no one will leave you." She said to the lioness as she slowed down a few paces so that she could catch up to the rest of the lions. It seemed that everyone was having an interesting time so far. At least no one could say they were bored!

As she walked, Udaka noticed a strange shape off to the side of the group. She narrowed her eyes, unsure of what it was, but after a good hard stare realized it was just a pile of rocks. Well, that was better than another bird that was out for blood.

While waiting for a reply, Sturm once again got distracted. This time he stepped on something sharp and sat down to poke and prod at his paw for a few minutes. It seemed a little rock had gotten jammed between his toes. Finally, with some delicate claw work, he got it out. Looking up, he realized the group was really far ahead of him.
"Ah nuts," he muttered, running to catch up again. He regained his position and walked along beside the lioness as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened.

Talking while her mouth was full was kind of difficult, so the Cinga carefully set her bundle down. She needed something to put it in, something to carry it in too... Glancing round she spotted another plant with a large leaf. Grabbing a couple of carefully piled the herb into the middle then rolled the larger leaves up into a small bundle. A few careful twists of the long stalks and she had a type of handle. Scooping it up in her jaw she was delighted that she could still talk and hold the parcel. But when she turned to sow the others, she discovered they had gone on without her. Huffing at herself for her own stupidity she chuffed, calling Idla. The vulture would know where her pridemates had gone to...
A moment later the vulture swooped low in front of her and tipped her wings in the direction of the Mkhulu party. grinning ilanga set off in hot pursuit. Loosing her pride was impossible for the experienced Cinga after all.

Giving Yimve one last careful look Sobala nodded. "Just... be more careful? Too many stings and you might not be able to hunt with us..." She couldn't conceal her worried tone, but her sister's question stopped her, a warmth heating her cheeks. Damn.. Yimvelo had seen her blunder? "I'm fine, that was a bit embarrassing wasn't it?" She asked quietly, glancing round to make sure no one else was listening. She really hoped that bit didn't get recalled in the stories later on.
The sudden sound of wings high above made Sobala startle and she looked up hurriedly. But then she recognized the bird as the one with Ilanga and relaxed. Drat... she was going to be jumping out of her skin at every wingbeat now... Great.
You know, I think in some of our RPs i've been spelling your name Tanakoko. -_- I always spell out names instead of quoting. I fail

I totally fail at life. Though Imbali was the vulture haha. Is this good to mention her like such? -fixing later post as well to reflect imbali as a lion and NOT a vulture.-
She looked down towards the ground slightly in shame as her sister told her to be more careful. It really wasn't her fault those bees came out of no where. "I know... At least I wasn't the only one to get stung! Not that I'm glad that I wasn't the only one.." She said trying to defend herself slightly. She could still hunt, she would just be a little tender for right now. Her mood changed slightly as her sister got embarassed at her having noticed. "Don't worry, I promise I won't tell anyone."
As they continued along she was suddenly aware that Imbali had came over towards her and began telling her about the hippos and how awesome they were. This made her mood change a lot and she was honestly excited to see them. Though, she was quite certain she probably wouldn't think they were awesome as they were trying to bring them down. Still, to see them so close tomorrow will be something else entirely. "I'm sure they'll be quite a sight to see." She said to the Cinga with a smile.
