In the middle of the night Chel woke up again. This time it had been one of those "all your friends die" dreams; the kind that left you feeling empty when you opened your eyes again. If there was one thing Chel was afraid of, it was being alone.

Since she was on her side she saw Shun across the gap they'd made, back to her as (almost) always.

She scooted forward enough to put an arm around him and her face in his back. He'd have to forgive her this once; she just wanted to make sure he was still there.
