Quote: The entire reason for having models is to challenge the designer to work within the confines of what looks best on the canvas they've chosen. Before models were implemented, contestants designed for themselves. They didn't explore much and therefore didn't learn much. With the introduction of models, they had to learn the colours, patterns and styles that best worked with the various base traits that they were presented, as they were no longer designing just for themselves. Our designers are designing for their models first and foremost. The base traits are essentially an extension of the garment itself. It doesn't matter if the design would look good on a different model, it must highlight their assigned model. Likewise, it doesn't matter if the look wouldn't work with any other model, as long as it compliments their assigned model. That being said, I feel bad giving Milk a rotten score and I need a hug.
The guilt is overwhelming me because it's partly my fault. Sheenah is a model I wish I would have redone because traits like hers are for challenging an avatar builder champ, not for sabotaging one's chance at victory, which is what I feel I've done.

Although I think Milk was the weakest this time around, the numbers don't lie and Ultra drowned. So I guess my vote for the eliminated party will go to Ultra.

I definitely think Alesaan should be our winner, and sad though I am to see Ultrabord in the bottom, I do think her's was the weakest entry this week.

Alesaan deserves the win, even if I liked elphie's submission more. I hope Ultra comes back for round 2 and steps up their game, they had some really good ideas and not so much opportunity to execute on them, with their internet issues. I miss their entry outfit...

Challenge 8: Seven Deadly Sins
Dante Dolly (Melissa) Score: 6 Comments: This is difficult. First off, I hate the thought bubbles ... Second, I don't like the toxic scheme quite as much on Melissa, but I do appreciate the symbolism. I also don't think I'm a fan of the unmatching green at the bottom. Despite the explanation, it just seems a little bit off. What I absolutely love is that headpiece - I think it represents the sin perfectly.
milk cap (Sheenah) Score: 5 Comments: This is colour matching hell. I don't know where to start. Maybe with the idea that Milk says the armmod only had burgundy, but then she didn't use burgundy anywhere else. Or ... change the armmod? The flames, the headpiece and Sheenah's hair are in sync, but that's about it.
HCTotorro (Nicki) Score: 8 Comments: I love this. Nicki looks great in orange!! The idea is a little bit busy, but it works for the sin and it's also not busy to the point where we can't see the model. It's actually quite balanced for everything to look at. Wish there was a little bit more in the description.
Alesaan (Sarah) Score: 6.5 Comments: I love this look on Sarah - These are her colours completely. I also like the description, though I wish there had been a little more of it, explaining the garment. The other thing I wonder is if it may be a little bit too simple. The garment is essentially just a shirt. Most of the appeal comes from the background.
AmberEmma (Wanda) Score: 9 Comments: Mwah! I'm in love with this design. It was hella gutsy to have the model facing away from us, but it works and with the description supporting the idea, I'm not mad at it at all. The one thing I could do without is the thought bubble - we all know how much I hate those. The message is clear without the need of an ugly black smudge. Also, I wish we could have heard more about the design process in the description.
x_suicide_is_inevitable_x (Ella) Score: 3.5 Comments: Holy literal, Batman ... Ella is portraying sloth ... I get it ... Don't beat me over the head with it ... Too late ... It's hard for me to even judge this outfit because very little about it says fashion ... I can't get over the giant sloth ... Next!
elphiethesane (Helen) Score: 7 Comments: Man, do I love Elphie's description. Lately, I find it to be the pinnacle of perfection. The overall design isn't bad at all, but what I really would have liked to see is more purple on top to balance out the heavy purple of the gown. Also, once again I find myself wishing the headpiece were less clunky.

Dante Dolly (Melissa) Score: 6.5 Comments: The green-eyed monster comes out in full force here, and I feel like Dante's nailed their theme. There's a few nags I have about it though - for every positive, it feels like I have a negative to counter it. The drippy, gooey feeling is well conveyed, and the description drove it home... but at the same time, it looks a little snotty, and the goop in the background is distracting. The horns convey the 'sin' part, but the veil irritates me and obscures Melissa's face. The description is good, but it runs a bit long.
milk cap (Sheenah) Score: 6 Comments: Sheenah looks like she's about to crack the earth underneath her and set the object of her wrath aflame! It's a powerful image, especially considering her stance - she's got a strong silhouette and the mismatched burgundy actually makes me feel as though there's a little more flair to the image. You went full force on the demon imagery and I like it. That being said, the flaming background caused you a couple of problems. For a long time, I thought she was wearing a full long skirt because her legs blended into the background, and the billowing smoke made the empty space stick out - I'd have liked to see a simple background, to make the look not feel so hollow, or exchange that item for a different fire entirely.
HCTotorro (Nicki) Score: 7 Comments: This is a little hard on my eyes - the orange rags are distracting in how well they blend in with the background, but HCTotorro redeemed themself here by making Nicki herself stand out among all the food she can't touch. It reminded me of the Tantalus story, and I do really like that symbolism.
Alesaan (Sarah) Score: 7.5 Comments: This is a good look for Sarah. The red is striking, and her face, combined with the theme, makes her look sultry. Her hooded eyes and slight smile make me feel as though she's beckoning. I will say I was thinking this was a bit plain, but after reading the description I actually did get a better idea of what Alesaan was trying to do, so I laid off a bit on that front. I don't really like the legmod and I still think the look is plain, but I understand it now, and that's what's really important.
AmberEmma (Wanda) Score: 9 Comments: Oh, wow. I don't think we've seen a contestant turn their model around like that before. It's an incredibly risky move, but it works incredibly well here, and I respect the hell out of it. It really drives it home that she doesn't care about the viewer, only her own ambitions and desires. I want to see more gold on Wanda! That's her power color, for sure! The description was a bit lacking, the speech bubble wasn't necessary, and the coral in the foreground item used was distracting - but overall, this is a solid, solid look. I'd have liked to see some more actual gold or treasures though, to show Wanda doesn't care about what she has now - Greedy Wyvern or Legend of Clarion come to mind.
x_suicide_is_inevitable_x (Ella) Score: 2.5 Comments: ...Oof. I get what Suicide was trying to do here, I do! But... this doesn't really work. Don't get slothful just because it's sloth. The humor of it is good, and comedy isn't inherently a bad thing in fashion... but they went a little too far here.
elphiethesane (Helen) Score: 8 Comments: Helen looks really stunning in these colors! I'm glad to see her in a lot of variety now. It's a good look, but it feels a little bulky on Helen. the fur collar didn't feel necessary, and there are alternatives that feel less overwhelming - Stoic Mage and its recolors come to mind. The two crowns were distracting - a behind-the-head veil would have been nice, to give Helen sort of a backdrop, if you were worried about her short hair being an issue. Overall, though, I like this a lot.
AmberEmma really showed up this round, I'm impressed. I think greedy Wanda deserves this one.

Dante Dolly (Molly) Score 7 Comments Some of the color decisions are not my favorites, and something layered oddly with the hair to make it look like her hair is up instead of all down, and I don’t love that. I also don’t think the speech bubble adds anything to the look. However this fit the sin so perfectly, without any explanation needed, and I liked that. There’s ways to be obvious about the sin without being too much...like some of the other looks...
milk cap (Sheenah) Score 5 Comments This says wrath. That is it’s biggest strength. And Sheenah looks good, this sits her. But. The burgundy’s don’t match, and I’m incredibly aware of it. The flames and head piece are great together, and again, I love how well this fits the sin.
HCTotorro (Nicki) Score 8 Comments The shades of orange and gold chosen look great on Nicki. It’s a little bit busier look than I would have liked to see, but it fits the theme and the challenge. I don’t like the gold sparkle looking things in her hair, and I wanted more from the description, but those are the only real complaints.
Alesaan (Sarah) Score 6 Comments I was thrilled when I first saw this look. It says lust without Sarah looking skanky, which can easily happen. This lusty look fits Sarah so well. I love that it’s kind of coy and just a different take on lust. But it is pretty simple, maybe too simple. I can’t really be upset with it though, and I went back and forth on the score a few times.
AmberEmma (Wanda) Score 9 Comments Back to us is so bold. And I love a designer being so bold at this stage in the competition. And the colors are absolutely beautiful together and beautiful on Wanda. The speech bubble is a little off, not as bad as some, just it’s off. And it does look like greed. It’s kind of nice to see a softer take on the gold of greed too. This is good.
x_suicide_is_inevitable_x (Ella) Score 2 Comments I adore suicide, and pros are that Ella looks adorable. The colors are good on her. Outfit is technically fine. But the sloths..this is gimicky. Of all the ways to interpret the seven deadly sins and do things, I didn’t see this coming. There’s a lot that could have been done to make this better.
elphiethesane (Helen) Score 6.5 Comments It’s a great description, and it looks like vanity. I think using the vain color scheme felt a little..obvious? It looks good on Helen and of course it fits the challenge, but I think other colors could have been used. Would have liked seeing the mirror facing Helen rather than away, and I think that the tail curling in front nearly looks like it’s attached to the mirror too?

bad wolf bae But the sloths..this is gimicky. This makes me wonder whether Suicide is equipped to handle the upcoming challenge. Gimmicks and jokes are fine for the first couple of tasks, but at this stage in the game, we need more substance in their designs.

Quote: 90 - AmberEmma 77 - HCTotorro 72 - elphiethesane 67 - Alesaan 65 - Dante Dolly 53 - milk cap 27 - x_suicide_is_inevitable_x Oh yes, Amber deserves the win! The look was so refreshing, which is rare this far into the game. I was actually surprised. Taken aback by the daring move.
Suicide took a risk by going literal, but it didn't pay off in this situation. This was shot into left field. Although their body of work is good, I can't pretend that it's enough to secure Suicide a spot. Therefore my vote is to eliminate Suicide. On a side note, I've made a command decision to PM Suicide their feedback. This is not the norm, but I don't believe in publicly shaming people and an honest review of their work could potentially do that. In the public post, I wrote as much as I could that was both honest and kind. Sadly, there wasn't much to write, so the bulk of it is going to be sent privately.
Sorry for making this call without your opinions, but I'm sure you can understand. There's a real person behind that avatar and I don't want to hurt them over a silly little contest.

If we can decide on the winner/loser tonight, I'd appreciate it. That's if you're on and you have time. No pressure if you're busy.
Thanks for your vote, Clot. We are 2/3 Team Amber.
And I think we're all 3/3 on eliminating Suicide.
I've never seen a score that low before, aside from a zero because a designer didn't submit.

I definitely think Amber deserves the win, and suicide should sadly be eliminated. I also think it's a good idea for you to send suicide their feedback privately, I don't want their feelings hurt either.
