Princess has been granted an extension

Aaaand she entered with the wrong model sweatdrop
PostPosted: Wed Aug 08, 2018 2:09 pm

Yes. Yes she did. And I can not with it. I let her know if she edits it to Mia we’ll take it into consideration, but that I can’t keep granting extensions. And tomorrow’s announcement will be about no more extensions except for emergencies. And just. Idk. People are making this difficult. XD

Hello again. Princess updated using the correct model in time. With a huge picture. I just. I don’t think her score is gonna improve much with the proper submission, but it is there and judging can be updated a bit to acknowledge that.

Hopefully this will be one of the last made quote messages like this for this round, haha.

All numbers are rough since Goddess hasn't finished her panel, but it does look like Tink and botticellus will be on top with Empress close behind. I would be happy to see Tink or botticellus as the winner.

Pixels and Princess are the bottom two, no matter what other scores come in for them. I would be happy seeing either one eliminated, I think Princess' was worst over all, but at least it felt like she wants to be here and fought for it where Pixels literally said they should probably drop out. So that's a thing.

I will be gone for the next two days, might pop on quick here or there, but I won't be posting announcements or things like that, but feel free to start deciding things! If Goddess gets on and you all agree on things I will happily support whatever is decided. heart

So I'd be happy to see either Tink or botticellus win (botticellus is my vote but I feel like Goddess's scores will give us a more clear cut score rank and I'm usually inclined to go with numbers for winners).

As far as the loser I'm actually torn. I really REALLY do not like Pixel's outfit this round and the drop out threat drips with concern. However, they were in on time and might have just been having a bad day.

Princess though, ugh, this round was just a mess, but she showed a lot of effort to stay in so should that be rewarded?

Even comparing their bodies of work they're fairly even since we're only a few rounds in. However it might be worth noting they've both been in the bottom once each before.

I guess no matter what outcome I'll probably feel about the same about it too. So I'll probably just agree with whatever the rest of you want to do this round and Goddess's scores might make a big difference.

I'd drop Pixels. But I might be biased by the cute purple fish with Mia now that Princess has updated her model and design lol. Probably the only thing I like about the look....

I love Tink's design but it doesn't move me the way Bot's does. So while I think I graded Tink slightly higher on technical detail, I have the feels for Bot's design more.

Goddess is having schedule and computer availability issues, so she’s asked us to just judge without her for this round. Which would us with botticellus as the winner based on numbers and feelings and such! And I think the larger consensus is drop Pixels.

I don't really care for the rabbitan collar as it layers oddly, and I'm not sure I love the headphones either. Very strong over all, great to see such a cohesive look from David, especially one that doesn't have a million and one things going on.

I like the big bow, and I like the shape and balance. But. The jacket...idk. I like it. But the just..the jacket hanging off the shoulders is a look that is distinctly older than most kids wear.

Challenge 4: I Don't Wanna Grow Up

Empress Ekko (Mia)
Score:
Comments:

DAVlD DUCHOVNY (Keran)
Score: 7
Comments: This is a pleasant first look to return to, especially after reading
the rather tragic scores of the last round. These colours are just plain fun
and although they don't really suit Keran in a fashion sense, it doesn't matter
because kids don't play by the rules! The concept is really fun. I do wish
David would have used something to mask his model's mature face though.
I'm not sure what that item would be, but I know it must exist somewhere.

x_suicide_is_inevitable_x (Ebony)
Score: 8
Comments: There are two concepts ere and although I like them both separately,
I don't much like them together. She's dressed for a rainy day and standing on her
bed. I get it, you came inside and started building forts instead, but why would
that warrant wearing the outdoor gear in the house? Without the background, I
could have ignored the combination of two themes, but when the background is
right there staring me in the face, I can't pretend it's not distracting.

khionna (Veronica)
Score: 9.5
Comments: Oh wow! This little model gorgeous!! As mature looking as
Veronica can be, Khionna made her shine as a toddler!! I am so impressed
here. The colour scheme is perfect for this youthful look, and the items used
are varied and colour matched well. The addition of the ears was quite frankly a
genius move, in my opinion, as it was an essential tool to make the mature hair
playful! This would have received a ten, but there was just the littlest something
off. I'm not quite sure what it is, but it could very well be the dark teddy bear.

Your Local Gay (Dita)
Score: 7
Comments: This is scored so high because I truly love the neck up and pelvis down.
Bubblegum is so popular still, it was a good choice to use that colour scheme. I
really love that he utilized a leg mod that showcased thinner legs because it really
does make Dita look younger and she is arguably one of the oldest looking models
we have. I'm not loving the torso, mostly because of the jacket. The black takes a
lot of the charm away from her colour theme and like he said, it gives her an
appearance of not looking as young as she could have been portrayed.

Princess of the Raindrops (Daphne)
Score: 5
Comments: My initial thought was that this was a girl dressing up to play doctor ...
and then got too carried away and sliced off a finger. It's not really childlike. And I
personally think that costumes and holidays stray from the task a bit. I mean,
Halloween is not just for children. I'm almost 30 and I dress up every year and
have a ball. The colours are also much too bold for Daphne, who could have
ROCKED this challenge out of the park if she'd been put in pastels or something of
the like. Also, the background is not necessary and the chat bubble .... Seriously?

Tink_Bel (Zahara)
Score: 7
Comments: I love the rainbow theme. I love the accents of white. I simply adore the
star to highlight the background. The tucked in legs are cute. And despite Zahara
looking very mature, Tink did a fairly good job shaving a few years off. But I hate
that bunny. I mean, up close, it's not the worst thing in the world, but unless you're
zoomed in 150% or more, it honestly just looks like a big white blobby eyesore.

METTAT0N (Brooke)
Score: 6.5
Comments: I am really torn with this entry. At first glance, I love it
because it makes me think of a onesie. But when I look at the details, I
realize I'm way off the mark. Honestly, if Metta had gone with a hood and
made it a bedtime look, I think I could hate rated it significantly higher.
As an every day/first day of school look, I don't really like it. However, I
do enjoy the colour scheme as it brings out Brooke's eyes expertly.

RENstrawberry (Kate)
Score: 8.5
Comments: The description says it all and the look follows suit! Having Kate for
this challenge WAS a huge positive for the reasons she mentioned. This look is
absolutely adorable from the frilly headpiece, to the bow, to the teddy bear and
all the way down to those clumsy feet. Honestly, with the poofy sleeves, it looks
like something I would have worn as a child in the early 90's. I get nostalgia feels
from this, so I can't harp on it ... except for the mustard and ketchup vibes ...

Kiwi Cannoli (Madison)
Score: 6
Comments: This is not what I've come to expect from Kiwi. Perhaps she needs to study
Madison's strengths and weaknesses more or maybe this was just an off challenge. The
colour scheme doesn't really work with the model's skintone. The pink is much too light
to stand out and the grey is just a bad choice all around and doesn't look childlike at all.
I'm also not digging the glasses in this one as they seem to age Madison instead ...

botticellus venus (Xoco)
Score: 8
Comments: I'm glad Venus went back to the drawing board on this one as I think
we are all hoping to see looks for children no older than ten. Looks that really
capture the innocence of a child. With that, I will say that I adore this look on
Xoco. That shirt is just a perfect fit for this challenge and she coloured matched
it perfectly. I love the addition of the toque and glasses and I don't even mind the
background (as I remember messy rooms fondly as a kid). What I really don't
like at all is the hair accessory she added on the hat. The hat was enough.

Challenge: Cuatro

Suicide – Ebony - 5
Her face and hair look so dark with the contrast of all the pastel and candy colored stuff. Likely oddly out of place despite the tent thingermerbob shadowing her face (which is logical, but yet still doesn’t look right to me). Honestly it is hard to discern the outfit too from all the background elements. She does look like a kid though with the cat cap peeking through, the plus, the large boots, the bows and ruffles. I just wish I could get rid of the background to see it better.

Your Local Gay – Dita - 7
Stylish? Heck yes. Harajuku-esque? Yep! Childish? Eh, honestly, Dita look like an adult trying to dress youthful and stylish. I can’t figure out why I feel that way when I look at the outfit as he colors, cuts, and choices all seem right. Meh. But I am a big fan of the look.

Kiwi – Madison - 5
Ice cream, yum. Madison’s expression/face is a hard one for this challenge. The glasses make her look older I think, not younger. Maybe because I see that style of frames on older people (like my own)? And I hate the soft pink and gray on Madison. It feels so drab. Overall meh. Pretty boring and safe overall, and childish, but not enough to make me think this is a fashionable kid.

METTAT0N – Brooke – 7
This is the most “kid” look I’ve seen so far. She definitely looks like a youngster in some too big hand-me-downs or something. I like the seafoam on Brooke, and the hat is really fun. But the outfit is a little boring.

Tink - Zahara – 5
Meh. Most of the image is her pose and the background. Besides the hair stuff, it is mostly just a sweater. Which I have been guilty of too. I really like the pastel rainbow color scheme with Zahara’s skin , but I really hate the clips on her hair cut. Too much going on in that chic pixi cut. Also, pixi cuts make me think older as a rule of thumb, so maybe trying to mask her hair style a bit would have made her look more childish?

Botticellis – Xoco – 8
YES. Another one who looks youthful. But for me this looks like a younger person trying to look older. It has that vibe for me. The hat is fun, tho the bears seem a bit odd just sticking out of it only on the sides. The shirt is great, and these glasses do feel youthful to me. The socks and laced shoes help set the tone and make the outfit too. I love the background as it feels natural, and enhances the outfit both tonally and color wise.

Khionna – Veronica – 6.5
I’m glad someone chose cat ears! Veronica is perfect for this challenge as she naturally looks so youthful. Soft pink is beautiful on her, and the plushies are fun. The socks and headband are perfect, but the dress is a little lacking. While the background makes sense, I don’t love it. Too much soft pink makes this image and outfit forgettable.

POTR – Daphne – 4
Uh, wha…? She looks like a circus bear escaped after mauling someone talking about candy. Is this supposed to have a Halloween and hot mess vibe? (yes after reading the description). I definitely didn’t get the angry attempt, and I really don’t get why the mask was needed (or wanted). I’m not loving the background and think this look needs more maniacal to work (and get rid of the weird bear ears, or commit to a bear look with some huge bear hat and furry shoes or something). Overall just a huge miss for me.

Ren – Kate – 7
Childish and sweet for sure! I don’t know why her teddy is in the puddle though. I really like the pale yellow and wish it was used on her head more to help soften that raspberry hair. The shoes and accessories are perfect, and Kate ha a great face for this.

DAVID – Keran – 6.5
Demon candy was great, as it does pop. The rain jacket is fun as are the boots and I do get the skipping vibe. She looks like someone older trying to look young and hipster-ish to me though. Giant headphones? In the rain? A bear headband and exposed hair while again, in the rain? I don’t like the blue collar. I think it is the expression works against her most, looking all pouty makes her look older to me. It is a hard expression to work with for this challenge.

Challenge 4: I Don't Wanna Grow Up

I must say, I'm much more impressed with the looks overall this week.

Empress Ekko (Mia)
Score: 0
Comments: nothingsauce

DAVlD DUCHOVNY (Keran)
Score: 6.5
Comments: For sure a few steps up from last challenge. The outfit is very cute and primary colors are always a good go-to for youthful looks. I do wish there was a hood or cute rain hat in place of the headband and headphones because I do worry about the practicality of both chosen items in actual rain (let's not electrocute little Keran now). A hood also would have lessened the hair which along with the face is running into that void-ish issue. Don't really care for the collar either.

x_suicide_is_inevitable_x (Ebony)
Score: 9.5
Comments: Again this applies to several entries, but at this point I just skip the stories entirely. They add nothing to the descriptions for me. Anyway, I love this look. It's one of my favorites this week. Nothing about it reads "rain attire" to me so I suppose I don't find that element to be an issue. It actually reminds me of when I was little and we couldn't afford heat. All the kids would bundle up and play fort in the old dining room. This really feels like a full scene to me and I absolutely love that. The colors are richly balanced, Ebony looks adorable, as if she's shyly asking, "What's the password?" I think the look might have been stronger if the colored background wasn't yellow, but that honestly feels like a nitpick because I can't really fault this look.

khionna (Veronica)
Score: 10
Comments: Wowsers talk about favorite looks! Finally, FINALLY, Veronica does not suffer from a lolipop head! It's because the leg is exposed. That little bit of skin goes a long way to balancing the look. This looks like a little girl and a real character at that, rather than just a matchy-matchy avatar (which is why I don't fault the bear). Veronica looks so adorable. I feel like all of the elements come together, the pink SO works. She's snuggly and ready for bed. Even the description is on point. I'm not even going to pretend to find something to be bothered by, khionna nailed it for me.

Your Local Gay (Dita)
Score: 5
Comments: So here's the thing, it strikes me that Gay didn't understand the challenge. In the description they even wrote that they didn't want Dita to look too childish, but that was literally the point? They were going for kidcore rather than literal kid and if that were the challenge they would have nailed it. As it stands this look just isn't very childish. The jacket is too mature, the glasses are lending to that as well. In general the look is somewhat underwhelming and not really deco enough to be considered decora as Gay expressed desiring. That said, it's still very cute and I DO love bubblegum, and Dita does look younger than usual, just not young enough.

Princess of the Raindrops (Daphne)
Score: 3
Comments: I'm probably the only one not bothered by the mask (little kids love blood, sorry it's a fact) or the speech bubble, my issues are with everything else. First of all, this is not a costume. It's just random pieces. If she's meant to be a bear, give her bear pieces everywhere, (like Alesaan said) COMMIT! If she's a doctor give her a cute little doctor outfit instead. On top of that, the colors don't look that great on Daphne and the majority of the outfit it just dress and legmod. I get the idea that the little girl wants Halloween in the wrong month, but I don't like it. If this outfit, as is, had been put in front of one of Gaia's many front door backgrounds it would have been better by a large margin. Overall the look has too many elements and none of them are cohesive. Oh, and blush is illegal in this contest.

Tink_Bel (Zahara)
Score: 4
Comments: Oof. I am loathed to rate this low but this is not a strong look. There is a lot going on with the hair and none of it is helpful. Zahara has one of the most mature faces and Tink did nothing to mask that. A cute hood or something onesie-ish might have at least been distracting. The colors are fine but nothing special. Honestly though, everything else aside, the biggest blow came from creativity. That arm mod (which comes with the sweater and bunny) combined with that leg mod has been used so many times across Gaia it's like a default look at this point. Put on top of that, the look is basically just this combo plus unhelpful headpieces and star cutout. I'm not thrilled.

METTAT0N (Brooke)
Score: 4
Comments: Meh. The look is boring. My reaction every time I look at this is "LONG" because that sweater makes her torso look crazy elongated and that doesn't say kid to me. I don't like Brooke in demure, for some reason it makes her look a little dirty? Like her clothes need washed? I don't know how to explain it but it doesn't work with her features for me, at least not in this outfit. The hat and backpack are cute. I don't HATE the look, I'm just underwhelmed.

RENstrawberry (Kate)
Score: 7.5
Comments: A really super cute look. Again I like the use of primaries, though I almost wish they'd gone for a truer red or a raspberry to balance the hair, but at least the pink is consistent. Description is good and insightful. I like the intensity of the puddle because it balances the intensity of Kate's hair. My big issue with this one is the umbrella because it does take up lots of creative space, but this is still a strong look.

Kiwi Cannoli (Madison)
Score: 6
Comments: I really like the shape and concept of this outfit. I'd go so far as to say I love it because it's really reflective of my personal child style (I had glasses and wore so many dresses with hats as a kid, goodness). Unfortunately, the colors DO NOT work with Madison. She looks really washed out. If the glasses were fully round, or even a different color this would feel more childish, but as is they are much too aged. The bow is attached to the hat so they are a combo deal, but like Wolf, I am inclined to feel it looks out of place. I think more bows in the look would have helped this a great deal. Overall a good idea, poor execution.

botticellus venus (Xoco)
Score: 8
Comments: So with Xoco's face I feel like a pouty/bratty look might have worked better. In general, I feel like a lot of contestants went with cutesy, but I would have loved to see a tantrum or something. Anyway, the head piece doesn't layer great with the hat, and I do feel like the whole look feels disconnected from the expression. Other than that though, this is a solid outfit because the colors work well, the story is clear, everything is balanced. Xoco actually looks like a child and I'm thrilled the hair got hidden because those curls are not really childish while the hat really works. All that said, I might have liked to have seen that 90s look. <3

We have a bit more variety and disagreements with the scores this round, which is interesting and entertaining!

That said I think it's obvious the Empress will be in the bottom since there was no submission.

khionna came in on top dang near across the board, with an average of 88%.
botticellus is the runner up with an average of 78%.

I would be happy if either of them were given the wind, but my inclination is to go with khionna and follow the numbers.

I'm inclined to agree (though I think my scores make that obvious). I think it's a pity that we're once again having to eliminate another non-entry. This makes top ten, no one should be missing deadlines.
