“Three. Enoch, the Second City which never got a name and Carthage.” The other two were pale imitations compared to Enoch. It had once been a very lovely city before things began to turn dark and fall apart. Just about the time Caine came into power. There was freedom from the Masquerade but Caine’s word was law and if you angered you could find yourself exiled. Or worse. But after the flood Caine had disappeared, leaving his surviving childe to pick up the pieces of the shattered city. “Caine was only ever in it for himself. He could have cared less about the vampires that lived there.” His brows knitted together “But you aren’t your father. You are more than he ever could hope to be.” Ravnos’ green gaze swept out over the water, there was so much of it. It reminded him of their first ‘honeymoon’. Right, none of that on the beach again. “Besides, it might be nice to have a place like that again. Where Vampires don’t have to pretend to be what they aren’t and can feel safe.”

"Three." He deadpanned, and then let his hand fall from the hair he had been pushing back to rub it down his face instead. Three, and one of them hadn't even lasted long enough to be named! But as daunting as it seemed, there was an idea there, one that niggled away in the pit of his stomach, and that all too familiar feeling, a mixture of both pride and arrogance. Grendel could do better than Caine. He would always do better. But again, how would it work? They could not just create a city that any mortal could wander into. It had to be in its own space, secure and secluded. Even the thought of allowing any mortals access at all did not sit well with the God. Even if they were willing participants in feeding, what would stop them from leaving one day and spreading the word? There was a lot to ponder. But nothing needed to be done immediately anyways. There was always time. He moved closer to Ravnos then, and lowering his hand, grasped ahold of his, threading their fingers together as he stared out at the vast expanse of water. "It would be nice." He agreed, "But I would need to consider the logistics of it."
Another short pause. "I do not want to be a failure like he was."

At least the God was considering it, he could have just flat out refused. But he didn’t. It was nice to think about though. A fourth city. Freedom from the shadows, Ravnos had missed that the most. Everyone was so scattered maybe having a place like that would instill a bit of co-existence between them all. The Disciple grew weary of clan rivalries and fights. He squeezed Grendel’s hand when he laced his fingers with his. Moving closer so that he could lean his head against the other’s shoulder. “Like I said you are not Caine. You’ve done more than he ever did. You gathered new and old Disciples to you, you killed a Crusnik, faced off with two Godesses, helped raise two wonderful children, created Ennoia to make sure the Clanless were taken care of too. Caine would never do these things. And if you do go through with this I believe in you. So you won’t fail. I’ll be by your side the whole time.” A warm smile came to his lips. Love pouring from those green eyes that seemed to glow. Even if he decided not to do this Ravnos would understand. It was a big task but all he could do was encourage Grendel. He seemed unsure about it.

Ravnos knew him better than anyone. He had seen him at his best and at his worst. He knew what thoughts ate away at him, what could trigger his anger, the difficulties he'd faced, and the burdens he shouldered. He also knew the tender side that nobody else got to see. The part that was full of nothing but love for the Disciple and the family they were building together. He had insight to every facet of the God, and because of that, when Ravnos gave his opinion on something, Grendel listened. He smiled at the words. They were sweet. Encouraging. They bolstered his wavering confidence and filled him with a new purpose. The Fourth City. If Ravnos believed it was achievable, then the God believed it too. He turned his head slightly, pressing his lips to the top of the Disciples head as it rested against his shoulders. "So what do you suggest for this new city?" He asked, genuinely wishing for Ravnos's input.

The Disciple would always be supportive and encouraging. He wanted Grendel to succeed in whatever he was doing or planned to do. Very few had the intimate knowledge of the God like he did. Ravnos had learned much in his time with him. And was glad to be a sounding board for Grendel, often sharing his opinion on matters. He had seen all sides of the God. The anger, the broodiness, the joy, the tenderness and the love. The last three reserved only for him. Of course, he wouldn’t have it any other way. Ravnos loved him. He truly did. But he was not willing to share that part of the God with the rest of the world. Maybe it was selfish but the Disciple cared very little about that. Smiling warmly as Grendel kissed the top of his head he squeezed his hand again. “Well for starters the Masquerade needs to not be enforced there. Let Vampires be Vampires. All vampires Clanned or Clanless should be welcome. The closest I can get as an example is Hemlock. It would be its own city with its own economy.” He thought for a moment.!”Maybe we could move the temple here, expand the shield to encompass the city?” He knew that idea would probably take a lot out of the God.

"And what of the mortals?" He asked because that was the part that he was stuck on. Without mortals, they would have nothing to hunt, to feed off of. But if they allowed them, what then? Did they stay in the city, unable to ever leave lest they spill the secret to the rest of the world?
His own head had fallen to the side, resting against Ravnos's as he thought.
"Hemlock is not just a city, it is an entire realm." He said, frowning to himself.
Faetasia was a world always changing, always expanding, and always providing as necessary. But a new realm? Was it even possible?
He shifted, lifting his head up so that he could look at Ravnos when he spoke next, his voice quiet, but still deep.
"A new realm." He said the words out loud, "One that is not already in use, of course, and the temple could sit at its very center."
But did a such a place even exist?

“That is the wrench in all of it.” The mortals. How were they to handle that? What was to stop them from leaving and revealing their secrets to others. They could lead any of their enemies to their door step. It would have to be handled delicately that was for sure. Ravnos’ eyes lidded Hal’s way as he felt the weight of Grendel’s head against his own. “True it is more than just a city. But you are a God, you can do whatever you set your mind to.” If anyone could pull it off Ravnos believed Grendel could. “Having the temple there would certainly provide more protection for the family.” Even though all the children were grown Ravnos still worried a little about them all being safe. So far things had been on the quiet side and some of the kids had moved into the temple. The Disciple enjoyed having their family close, it meant less time trying to track them down.

"I am a God, yes, but there are many Gods. If I presume too much or step beyond my station, I could face consequences similar to Caine." And that is what he did not want. For some higher-up God to view his aspirations and ambitions as some kind of threat. If he were to do this, it would surely draw attention to himself, and to the vampires. And while they might be easier to protect, all in one place where he could keep a more watchful eye, he wondered if it might also put a larger target on their backs. He raised the hand that was holding Ravnos's in his own and brushed his lips across the Disciple's knuckles with a smile. Ah yes, their family. Thinking about them brought a certain kind of joy to the vampire God's heart, a joy that had been absent through most of his existence. "I want to do this." He said, lowering the hand again. "It just needs to be handled very carefully. The first step would be finding the right place. The island that would become...well, whatever we decide to call it. For now, I suppose, the Fourth City will do."

Ravnos could see his point. It was a good point, one he hadn’t considered. With Brood still out there who knew if doing this would draw her eye. Or what repercussions from any other Gods might be. To build this city it would take a lot. A lot of planning, a lot of trial and error. He smiled as Grendel’s lips brushed against his knuckles. Before he lowered his hand again the Disciple kissed Grendel’s knuckles in return before allowing their hands to fall down once more. The Disciple’s head turned just slightly when the God mentioned wanting to do it. A soft smile coming to his lips as he leaned over and kissed him a few times along his jaw line. “I will help the best I can.” The Fourth Coty. It would definitely need a name, he would have to ponder for a minute but right now his focus had turned back to Grendel. It was hard to concentrate on anything else when he was acting so sweet, kissing his knuckles and leaning his head ontop if Ravnos’. “We’ll find someplace I am sure of it.” He reached up to tuck a bit of loose red hit behind the God’s ear.

It became more and more difficult to even concentrate on any of the questions or ideas he had, especially when Ravnos began placing kisses along his jaw, his lips finding those places that without fail always sent a little shiver down his spine, and goosebumps breaking out along his arms. He may have even tilted his head a little to give him better access, encouraging him to keep going as he let out a soft, appreciative sound, eyes half-lidded. Wait. s**t. Fourth City. ... It could wait. Turning so that he was facing Ravnos, he brought his free hand to his chin, and tilted it up gently with the edge of his knuckle, before leaning down to place a soft kiss on those lips that so often drove him wild, and then another, and then a third that was far more hungry, lips parting to deepen it. It did not seem to matter how much time they spent together. Ravnos still managed to light a fire inside of him every single evening, every time he was near, with just a look, a touch, or softly spoken words. He pulled away just enough to look into the vampire's eyes, his hand moving now to glide his knuckles along Ravnos's cheekbone, and brushed his hair to the side as his red gaze softened. "Ești dragostea vieții mele" He said, smiling, "And we will do this together."
and then he kissed him again.

They could definitely talk about the Fourth City later. Ravnos leaned his head into the knuckles that brushed against his cheekbone. Turning his head slightly to kiss the palm of his hand. His arms snakes around Grendel’s neck as he pressed his body up close to his. Grendel just being there lit a passion in him. He couldn’t explain it in the slightest. No one had ever made him feel this way. Not until Grendel. Every look, touch, kiss drove him crazy. “Și tu ești al meu. Te iubesc mai mult decât luna și stelele care atârnă pe cer.“ The God’s accent was improving every time he spoke Ravnos’ language.!soon he would be able to carry on a conversation without batting an eyelash. The Disciple moaned into the kiss. Opening his mouth so that Grendel’s tongue could enter. This was bliss. Ravnos broke the kiss for only a moment. “Should we go back to the vardo then?”

Now that he understood. The words filled him with a warmth that glowed in his eyes when he looked at the vampire in his arms. His feelings for Ravnos were so strong they seemed to defy reason, and he knew those feelings would never die. When they kissed again he swallowed the Disciple's moans as if he needed them to survive, tongue swirling against his. The kiss broke and he let out a low hum as if musing over the question, a small smirk coming to his lips. In the next moment, they were back in the Vardo, just as Ravnos had suggested. "And wasn't that much easier than walking through the sand?"

The love that they shared was so strong it could weather any storm. They had both been through a lot since that night Grendel has shown up at his Vardo all that time ago. The pair had survived so much and were raising such a beautiful family. What more could the Disciple ask for? One minute they were standing on the sandy dune overlooking the water and the next they were in the Vardo. Safe from prying eyes. Ravnos squinted his eyes at the God but a smirk curled the corner of his mouth. He lifted a single finger and pressed it against Grendel’s lips. “Shhhhh. None of that now.” Turning around he took hold of Grendel’s hand, leading him into the bedroom past the beaded curtains. ————— The couple had spent all night together. It wasn’t until the sun had begun to rise that sleep started creeping in on Ravnos. He was able to stay sleep a little longer but eventually he would fall asleep curled up against Grendel with an arm thrown over him. But the daylight hours ticked along until it was time for the sun to begin setting. Still Ravnos didn’t stir from his slumber. He was so content and relaxed with the God there while he slept. When he finally started to wake his green eyes fluttered open. A look of confusions on his face but it quickly vanished as soon as he realized Grendel was there with hm.

The God's smirk widened behind that index finger that was pressed to his lips, but he did not say anything more. He was only too happy to be led away to the room beyond the beaded curtain, toward the bed where they had spent their first night together what felt like so long ago now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sometimes he wondered how hard Ravnos really tried to stay awake when the sun rose. It was an idle thought and one that amused him as he watched the vampire sleep next to him. He had managed to slip one arm beneath him before he had drifted off, and wrapped that arm around the Disciple's shoulders and upper back, holding him close. As the day wore on he did not move from this place. He either watched Ravnos sleep or drifted in and out of deep thought until nighttime settled again, and still the Disciple slept. Yep. He knew it was just laziness. Probably had something to do with those cigars he was always smoking. They made him too relaxed. Well, Grendel could wait. Time meant much less to a God than it did to a mortal, and it always seemed to slip by quite quickly. When finally Ravnos did begin to stir, he shifted his hold on him, drawing him in close while burying his face against this neck to place several, soft kisses there. "Good morning." He rumbled against his skin, giving the flesh beneath his lips a delicate little n**. "You slept for a long time."

Ravnos smiled as he felt Grendel’s warm breath on his skin and the little n** that accompanied it. His arms wrapping around the other as a yawn escaped his lips. “Buna dimineata.” He replied. “I must have been tired. Since someone wanted to run a marathon in the bed last night. Not that I’m complaining.” A small smirk came to his lips, curling the one corner of his mouth upwards. He gave a little stretch just to get his muscles going. “How was your day?” Ravnos knew that when he slept Grendel rarely left his side. So there probably wasn’t much to talk about but he also knew that the God wouldn’t just sit there, he’d be deep in thought the majority of the time until the Disciple awoke. “Ponder anything exciting?” He tilted his head so that it was laying against the other male’s head. Running a hand along his bare back casually. The soft glow from the lit candles in the room reflecting in his eyes as he turned his head and kissed the God along his cheek bone. “Any new thoughts about the Fourth City?” Ravnos was genuinely curious. There was plenty of time to ponder it while he had been asleep.
