Description: Orange is a nice color, but I only ever use orange to make fall theme avatars, so when I started work on this creation, I wanted to avoid it looking like a fall avi. At some point in creating, the bird of paradise flower came to my mind.
The bird of paradise flower is orange with a touch of blue accents petals, it's within a green canoe-shaped bud. It's called the bird of paradise because it resembles a bird in flight. The flower symbolizes joyfulness, paradise, freedom, anticipation, and excitement.
Here Amira is a vivid representation of the flower. The skirt is orange with yellow sparkles and a green overskirt. The green overskirt is mostly hidden by the long red orange sleeves, but itโs there because it follows my theme. A flower comes wrapped in green. Avi's backside view
The top is an earthly brown. I debated adding a blue top, but the gold chest/shoulder accessory didn't look as good with blue beneath it. Instead, I added the touch of blue in the head accessory. I also thought about adding blue within the makeup, but ended up with this yellow, green, purple, orange makeup combo that I thought looked stunning but together.
For the background I was originally going for a garden with a variety of flowers and plants around to place my flower look, but I felt like it was going to be too much, and I still wanted to tie in the paradise aspect of the name. I decided less foliage was better and just added the floral ornamental window, which gave it a sophisticated majestic look and the touch of glowing yellow petals added mystic to it. Sort of as if you go through this window you'll be teleported to a different place. Lastly, I added birds because the bird of paradise attracts mostly birds!

Challenge 4: Orange is the New Black Designer: excites // Status: Complete Model: Serena // Title: "Sunny Day"
Description: The title might sound a little cheesy but it's a play off the famous art piece: "Starry Night". When I first read this challenge I thought, what if I make an everyday outfit, but anywhere you'd usually see black, I switched it to orange? But that seemed a little too safe. Then I thought, what if I did like a sunset theme because purples and oranges go so well together? Which might've ended up better than this look but I randomly got the idea to do a look that was opposite to "Starry Night" and here we are. I dressed Serena in different shades of oranges and alike colors in an attempt to mimic and almost chameleon her to the "Sunny Day" painting/ backdrop behind her. Her makeup only consists of paint-like brush strokes. Designer's Note: Hopefully this look came across close to how I imagined. It was pretty difficult to put together, but I'm not mad at it in the end.
I will start out saying I loved the free reign I felt in this challenge. I got to have a color and just vibe with it in this look. That said I feel like it still presented a challenge.
First thing I did was look at tips for wearing orange with red hair. I wanted to make sure it wasn't clashing with her hair and instead complimented it. The basic idea for wearing orange as a red head is matching the tone. So with a deep red like Raven's you want red toned oranges. I did add other tones as well but I tried to really make sure to use redder oranges as much as possible.
For the general composition of the look I wanted something powerful. Orange is a vibrant strong color. Its full of life and energy its the the middle of the warm color spectrum which to me makes it the warmest color. Aside from a little red and little yellow the only other color used here was black. I liked the contrast being neutral black. It adds a little relief but it doesn't really cool off the image.
I built the design around the ribbons and belts I loved the way the legmods ribbons gradient from a very yellow orange into a red orange as they move up her body. I added the Yokai Wraps in carnage because it brought in the next shade in between the gradient and her dark red hair. it also just layered so well with the ribbons some of the belt covers the ribbons but the ribbons also cover part of the belt so it looks like one item all woven together.
So finally here is Raven as the embodiment of fire. The char of black the bright light of the hottest part of the flame even the red often associated with fire, but mostly orange which is the true color of most fire. Raven is flush with warmth. she is floating, rising with the heat like a miniature sun.
I feel like I captured the energy of the color orange here and I really like the balance of the whole look.

Challenge #4: Orange is the New Black Designer: the purple mew Model: Eunwoo Status: Done
Eunwoo in Moths to the flame
Mew's Thoughts:
Judges and Fellow Designers,
Wow! what a time crush, eh? I apologize that college has kept me away from the competition, but Eunwoo and I are ready to fight til we cant anymore!
I love some of Gaia's oranges! In fact, goddess and goshiki are some of my faorite schemes, but neither was really inspiring me over the past few days. I started some word association, which eventually lead to autumn, but that wasnt specific enough. I finally landed on my theme after a while longer, moths!
I started searching and found some gorgeous items i really love, eventually running into the emerlescent/charred scheme and built off of that orange as my base. I picked up the wings and skirt first, and went from there
I needed more. That's when it hit me, what goes better with a moth than a flame?
I added a firey motif around Eunwoo, adding a few final detail like jewelery and a crown to make her stand out as a sort of queen of her moth brotherin, some eye makeup and she was finished!
Yours, Mew
"Bee to the blossom, moth to the flame; Each to his passion; what's in a name?" - Helen Hunt Jackson
BloodAngel95 โ Amira โข You've raised the bar for yourself again, you just continue to impress us week after week. A great description, great source of inspiration, and it is beautiful. Honestly one of the most stunning looks you've ever given us, and you should be so proud of yourself. โข The entry needed more orange. That's the only negative we've really got.
Detrimentum โ Eryn โข Two of the judges were OBSESSED with this look, one of them gave you the first perfect score of the cycle! Eryn is a beautiful magical girl and you chose a flattering shade of orange for the primary color on Eryn. โข The other judges would have liked a pop of vibrant orange somewhere. Adding some bows somewhere would have really sealed the magical girl theme and just been that little missing touch.
FaithEmblem โ Luz โข The challenge was orange, and there is no doubt you nailed it on that front. You chose a particularly flattering color scheme for Luz, and it was a lovely pose that really works well with everything. โข The title promised us glitter and the judges just felt like that wasn't really nailed. This is a fine look, there's nothing majorly wrong. It just needs something to really make it special. And we believe you can find that magic extra thing.
excites โ Serena โข There was such relief that you embraced orange and we didn't have any doubt what the challenge was. The outfit is solid, though not exciting. โข The description was lacking..in almost every way. The make up is also a little overwhelming. Over all it was just very middle of the road.
Kr-E โ Cheska โข This was a very conceptual look and the judges love to see you pushing yourself with creativity in that way. Cheska is performing and we are happily in the crowd. โข As good of an idea as it was, this is kind of a mess. It's hard to really see and follow all the lines of the outfit. Could have taken a detail or two off to benefit it, and there was also just too much darkness/other colors that stole the focus from the oranges.
Serafiella โ Tessa โข This was another super creative look, and we loved the inspiration. You're setting the bar for thinking outside the box and we love it. Tessa looks good and like she's celebrating a life lived. โข The pink tights were a weak spot in the outfit, and we just kind of thought the outfit in general could have been fixed up a bit more. It almost feels more circusy at times. We also think if you had picked just one or two shades of orange instead of so many options would have helped it too.
Serena-of-Limonium โ Raven โข The judges were almost perfectly split on this look. For the judges that liked it they felt like you nailed the sunburst vibe, and the colors were well balanced. Raven's red hair can be hard to work with, especially with a challenge like this, and you pulled it off. โข The judges that didn't like this really didn't like it. While we saw the sunburst things just felt more messy than anything else. We also felt like you needed to didn't use enough orange. All judges agreed a different leg pose would have been a benefit to the look.
Princess Warfare โ Brandie โข You promised us orange and autumn, and you nailed it! This is a great outfit and it it well composed and balanced between the look and the background. โข A few of the judges felt like the focus was not the orange, and it lost points as a result. It all looks good and works well, but as this is an orange challenge they just wanted the orange to be the focus and there to be more of it than anything else.
the purple mew โ Eunwoo โข We got the moth influence in the look, and the regalness of the look is a great thing. The concept was such a good one for Eunwoo, and you scored well for creativity. โข The concept was great, but it didn't live up to that potential. It was lackluster and it wasn't orange. It was a red look maybe, or black. But the judges just did not get the orange and for the orange challenge that just isn't ok. We know you were struggling with time, but it showed at the end of the day.
Haji Demon โ Raine โข You used orange well in a dynamic way, and we appreciated seeing the variety of shades used. While the dark make up felt a little heavy, it did bring out Raine's eyes in a great way. โข The only place the judges got kitsune in the entry was when you mentioned it in the description. We see fairy elements and everything else, but we don't see that. The green in her hair stands out too much for several judges. It just felt like it could have been cleaned up and focused more on one thing, and executing it well. The judges just feel like you've been off your game.

โง Designer: Detrimentum โง Model: Eryn โง Challenge: #5 - OMG! What is THAT?! โง Outift Title: โง Description:
The inner tube was a bit hard to work with, after all, it's not really a typical outfit element. Well, at least not typical if you're not going to a beach. I find it funny how FaithEmblem and I had similar ideas, but we executed them differently. My inspiration was also Moschino's โInflation Chicโ, however, the dress I was inspired by was less colourful!
Eryn is wearing a black gown (which is made from a skirt and two corsets for the top) with a longer back and shorter front. Under her gown is a purple lace dress, which makes it seem like her dress has a lace trim. Her waist is tied with a long black and purple ribbon. And of course the most important partโthe Inner Tube, which I used as the main inspiration for the colour scheme. All the clothes are black, only the accessories are purple so the tube can pop out more. The accessories I've chosen are: a headband with purple stars and a bow, also Eryn's wearing a pretty, long necklace that gives off the illusion of pooling on the tube. Makeup-wise I chose purple eyeshadow and delicate black eyeliner.
When choosing a background, I tried to make it look like Eryn's a model on a runway, but the back and floor are three different parts - 2 backgrounds and a curtain. With that, I created a unique background fit just for Eryn! :'D
Challenge #5: OMG! What is THAT?! Designer: Serafiella Model: Tessa Status: Complete
Bright Night
We saw the color options, and knew we could make yellow work for us, so off we went. Though the item itself is old, we borrowed a lot of the Lemon color from various schemes - respectrum, dreamland, demon candy - and they tie in to the tube well. Together, they allowed other colors to play. Simple whites underneath provide a strong base without being a single color blob, and tie back into the polka dots. I'm particularly fond of how the top's pockets mirror her sandals. This felt like it was finally time to bust out some big sunglasses that wouldn't hide her features too much, though due to that and the water she'd swim in, makeup is kept simple. A little waterproof seal bag holds anything she might need, and a shell anklet adds a touch of accessorizing. It's difficult to craft an accessorized beach look that still looks rather swimmable without taking it all off.
In real life I'm not the best of a swimmer, so the tube didn't really phase me at all. You need a tube, great, put one on that you like the look of, and get out there! She is happy and enjoying the beach on holiday! The scene we went with is after a day's swim, as night falls, she's come up to the fire to warm up. Fireworks frame the hills behind her. Today is one to remember.
Challenge 5: OMG! What is THAT?! Designer: excites // Status: Complete Model: Serena // Title: We All Floaty Down Here
Description:Happy October all you ghouls and gals! It's the month of Halloween! But we know there's lot's of other things to celebrate other than the best holiday of the year. That's why no matter the occasion, we got you! Serena the Clown is available for birthdays, weddings, office parties, or even to celebrate a sale at your local supermarket! She sings, dances, makes balloon animals, throws green glitter, and even tells dad jokes! Just give us a call at 1-800-4242, that's 1-800-HAHA! (Glitter clean up not included.)
I had so much fun creating this look. It started off very differently but I'm super happy with how it turned out. I've been seeing a ton of clown makeup and looks lately and creating a clown look just seemed so fun; not to mention happy October!
For the hair and makeup I decided to pin back some of Serena's hair just to give the illusion of a bang focused hairstyle. For makeup I went with black lines above the eyelids, dark purple liner, purple makeup to emulate a clown nose, green blush, and a bold black lip for that overdrawn clown mouth vibe.
For clothing, I wanted her outfit to heavily reflect a clown but still feel like fashion. I leaned into the polka dots on the floaty and gave her a polka dotted top and two toned tights, with the green side also featuring those dots. Complete with tutu, tassels, floaty, ruffled collar, and clown hat; you have Serena the Clown.
Designer's Note: Hopefully this description is better? I've been worried about my ability to write out a good description since I keep getting criticism for it. I'm trying! But this look was super fun to make and I enjoyed the item challenge.
Title. Clashing Fashion; Clashion, If You Will Designer. Princess Warfare Status. FINISHED AS OF 10/4/2024
Challenge #5: OMG! What is THAT?!
Description: Designers, have you ever been strolling down the street or flipping through a magazine and had to do a double take because something was just so...hideous? Maybe you've seen this hideous thing and thought you could make it work. That is the energy we want you to channel this week. Below are the items you can choose from for this challenge. See the swan beyond the ugly duckling designers, and show us that beauty is all in the eye of the beholder!
I remember being at the mall when I was like 10 or 11. That evening just happened to be the grand opening of Hot Topic. Yes, these were the olden days. Shoutout to my Elder Emos and scene kids... we RAWR XD-ed so the kids nowadays could LIEK TTLY X3 heart
I was with my mom, my aunt, and my sister, and we were enjoying some very VERY delightful people watching. The whole reason i'm mentioning this is because my aunt said "you'd think that they just threw everything in their closet on with their eyes closed, but I bet it takes them a lot of time and effort to get ready!" I was inspired by this memory to give Brandi's look a cityscape backdrop. It's reminiscent of how lively the mall was that day with all the clashing patterns (which I LOOOOVE!)
As I was building my crazy chaotic cacophony of clothing around this purple polka-dotted inner tube, I remembered that core memory VIVIDLY (ba-dum-tshh), and my aunt was right, y'all! This design definitely took a lot of fine-tuning, but once I figured out how to layer the socks/shoes/leggings, the hamster wheels in my brain went into overdrive.
I love how the polka dotted boxers show under the inner tube and over the plaid leggings. I wanted this whole outfit to clash, but make it fashion. From the stripes, polka dots, plaid, more stripes, and the knit pattern on the leg warmers, I think I did a fine job of cramming as many opposing shapes onto my model's fit.
I almost went with a much more clown-esque design, but I kept the little neck ruffle as a little nod towards the silliness and mismatched whimsical nature that this outfit portrays.
Thank you!

Challenge 5: OMG! What is that?! Designer: FaithEmblem Model: Luz Status: Complete
Luz in STOMPING DOWN THE RUNWAY!
"Always have fun with fashion. Dress to entertain yourself!" -Betsey Johnson
Hi everyone smile thanks for having me for another round
This was such an interesting challenge because I couldn't just start with... a color palette, or an accessory and build from there. The build just had to start with the inner tube, and each piece selected had to fit or elevate the tube in some way.
My first instinct was to go silly simply because I had an avi using this item already, who had big silly yellow shoes and so on. Eventually it just didn't feel like I could fine tune it to be comp worthy. So next as usual I went to designer inspiration... saw a Moschino "pool float" dress in bright fun colors and decided to run with it! In my attempt to create over-the-top refurbished beach couture, Luz's hair buns are high class "beach balls", I gave her a leather looking collar cutter to match her boots, and since there are no pool float material dresses on Gaia (lol) my inspiration instead was "beach towel pattern". I think the sweater works great for this on multiple fronts: the pattern is great, the colors are great, it's very long and flows with the skirt, and the outstretched arm pose frames the inner tube perfectly.
I watch runway shows like this IRL and think they are so fun, the crazier the better. Luz is definitely stomping down the runway in this, head held high, showing off them sleeves.
For fun of course, here is the Moschino dress that proves anything really can be fashion:
Description: Girl A: "OMG! Who is that? What is she wearing?" referring to someone in the distance wearing a white. Girl B: "She looks amazing." Girl C: "Who...Hmm...Wait... is that a swimming tube around her waist? Girl A: "Yup it is. Weird, but it kinda flows. I don't why but I kinda like it." Girl B: "Is it some kind of new trend to style swimming tubes?" Girl C: "I don't know." Raine is walking by the group of girls now. Girl A: "Hey, Great outfit!" Raine: "OMG Thank you." Raine place a palm on her cheek and the other on her chest exaggeratedly showing off her outfit more. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The first ideas that came to mind reading the prompt was beach or a space outfit; but on closer inspection of the tubes the black dotted/spotted tube caught my eye and made think of Cruella! So, I set out to create an elegant furry black/white outfit with a bit of red -- Cruella signature colors. Now plans change, looking through my black and white options I found these legs and was drawn to them, I had to use them. Because of the legs this avi turned into more of a Halloween outfit! The legs are from a bat item, so I looked for more bat item/influence finding the wings which went well with the look I was creating.
Raine is in a bit longer than a knee length white dress. Not simply a white dress, a white dress with a black collar, a red crisscross belt/belts on the midriff that extends downward around the dress, followed by a three-layer skirt, the black spotted tube layer, a card suits layer, and a simple white ruffle layer. The dress is paired with mismatched booties, gray bangles cuffs on each arm, and a plaid white beret with mismatched bows on the edge.
The arms was another item that caught my eye and stuck through out changing the avi, they were round like the tube and gray like it too. I went with dripping pinkish/reddish eyeshadow below, because Raine eyes already come with some eyeshadow above that are hard to work with, and since this is a Halloween look, I felt they added to the that vibe.
When it came to the background I kept going back and forth with no background, a Halloween party, or a store/street. The street/store won because I felt I shouldn't have no background, and it is too early for Halloween party. When thinking how I wanted to style the tube I wanted it to stand out but at the same time not to, I hope that makes sense.

Challenge #5: OMG! What is THAT?! Designer: the purple mew Model: Eunwoo Status: Done
Eunwoo in The Haunted Doll
Mew's Thoughts:
Judges and Fellow Designers,
Imagine you're watching tv at your friends house in the dead of night when you suddenly see movement in the corner of the room, but the only thing there is your friends weird doll collection. You've never understood why they collected those things, they've always creeped you out. The lights flash suddenly, an one of them, a little jester doll, is suddenly motionless infront of the tv. You feel a chill down your spine as your vision blurs.
Thats the feeling I wanted to envoke with Eunwoo this time. I wanted the "OMG! What is THAT?!" to refer to the whole thing and not just the tube itself. Tis the season, after all! I saw the polka dots and immediately thought 'clown, but make it cutely creepy'.
I knew a few things I wanted immediately, namely the makeup and skirt, but everything else took a bit of digging. The blue I chose doesnt have the biggest selection, and its sparse throughout the outfit, but I knew I didnt want just black and white.
Eunwoo and I hope you're all enjoying you October so far! May it be filled with fashionable freaks and festive frights!
Yours, Mew
"I told them that creepy thing would murder us in our sleep..." - MOTHER The Novelization
"Fashion surrounding the depths of despair" read the quote on the centerfold of a new up-and-coming fashion line. 'Is that...an inner tube?' Wondered the reader.
In regards to the inner tube I wondered what would give the true idea of the shock and awe to seeing this in a magazine. At first, I was thinking why not do a summerween? Well no. That makes too much sense for the piece to be shocking or even close to a wtf moment. I had to think deeper.
With a mix of some art styles such as a tiny bit of Bauhaus and a whole dash of Magical Realism. I felt these were the best inspiration for the look. I wanted the vibe to be something you may see on a runway for fashion week. This was definitely one of those times I decided to take it on organically and in my search was just stuck on these monochrome items. The only item with a touch of gold was to inspire the importance of the seaโa kind of splash of color to shine importance. Which I felt was perfect for that magazine page feel. Even testing out colors to true and bring the piece more life it didn't feel right since I was drawn to the black and white inner tube.
I do hope you enjoy this piece and get the magazine page vibe I was hoping to portray. Thank you!
So This challenge was challenging for sure. I really wanted to do something unexpected. I knew the obvious direction to go with these objects and I knew that a beach or pool look wasn't what I wanted. I also figured other might go this direction and I want to avoid ending up with something too similar. I actually fully finished a look on Monday night but decided that since I had time I would try doing a few more just to see what else might work and what I came up with made me way way happier. My goal was to make this item be both fully visible and yet not draw the focus more than anything else. I wanted you to look past it as an inner tube and I really feel satisfied with how I accomplished it. The Retro Good Bad sweater was the key to this look for sure the shape and position of the arms really mesh with the color and texture of the inner tube. it looks like an intentional part of the outfit and it doesn't feel like a joke or really even all that quirky.
I also love that this outfit is completely unique to anything in the competition so far. I went much more masculine and hard edge which isn't typically my style but I think it just worked so d@mn well. Raven looks badass. I just feels cool and I think it makes the inner tube look intentional but also not an in your face "I'm wearing a blow up flotation device" way.
Raven doesn't really care what you think of her. Shes busy tagging buildings and going to underground concerts and sewing patches on her clothing. Punk style is about taking stuff you find cheap and making it cool. Its about safety pins and weird belts and you know what this inner tube. This is fashion for a real rebel for someone who isn't afraid of saying hey you can't tell me I can't wear this inner tube because Raven doesn't care if you think its weird! You might still want to avoid saying it to her face thought because this bยกโch isn't afraid of confrontation.
Note: My husband insisted I had to add the version of her kneeling because it also looks really cool!
Shout out to Excites for doing a way better clown than I made for my first look!
Princess Warfare โ Brandie โข Brava! As an elder millennial myself, the moment I read your description I was right there with you. There is no missing the inner tube in your look, and all the colors play together wonderfully. This was a fun and bold entry that really worked for the judges. We were so glad to see you embrace everything! โข A more dynamic pose would have been nice, and maybe pay a touch more attention to the description. I was taken right back where you wanted us to go when I read it, but we didn't really see that. We saw more Y2K Tokyo street fashion with a dash of clown. Not bad, but not quite what was described. Make sure we see what is described.
excites โ Serena โข The judges are so proud of you this week! This look was so impressive. This was creative, perfect for the season, and the colors worked well on Serena. And that description? You're improving and the hard work you put in to everything is paying off. โข The judges were torn on if we likes the vanishing torso effect or not, though it was clearly intentional. A different background might have been a benefit. One of the judges also mentioned that since you were doing such a dynamic look with Serena as a clown, it might have been nice to see her in an equally dynamic pose!
Serena-of-Limonium โ Raven โข The judges were impressed with the grunge and punk styling of Raven. Using the inner tube in this way was a very creative and cool choice. โข Some concerns were raised about the color choices, as Raven's bottom half seemed somewhat invisible, particularly in the kneeling look. Likewise the hat and hair blend together a bit much, it's a good detail to be mindful of as we continue on.
Kr-E โ Cheska โข You intrigued the judges this week, and that is a high compliment. You took this challenge in a direction the judges never expected to see, and we love to be surprised. There were so many details in this that just really made it sing. โข There were perhaps a couple too many details. The judges had a hard time just appreciating the look as a whole, getting distracted by the different pieces. Also despite mentioning it in the description, we did not get Bauhaus.
FaithEmblem โ Luz โข The judges praised your unique approach to the challenge and the execution. They admired how you incorporated your inner tube as the centerpiece of your outfit. โข Some judges would have preferred Luz's makeup to have a more colorful eye look and boots of a different color that matched the outfit better. Also, be mindful of the image size when uploading. When your look was in progress it was uploaded at a normal size and looked better than the final entry which was blown up to the point some things became distorted.
Detrimentum โ Eryn โข Eryn looks stunning in this realm of purple and the judges are so glad you embraced that color for this look. She dazzles on stage and your inspiration was clearly conveyed. โข This look fell short in that you weren't the only designer who drew from this inspiration, and the look was just...simple. There was nothing particularly innovative or exciting. It's perfectly fine! But we wanted to be dazzled. And perhaps because you've set the bar so high for yourself in the past, the judges were just left severely underwhelmed this week.
BloodAngel95 โ Raine โข When designers choose to switch from a model they've been successful with it is very hit or miss if they can continue to impress. And the judges were relieved that you didn't bomb! Raine looks well dressed for the season, and the volume of the skirt particularly complimented the inner tube. โข This was just a bit chaotic. Reading the description it seems like you were a bit chaotic and all over the place as well. The judges as a result weren't sure just what this look was supposed to be, and had a hard time focusing on any one thing as a result.
the purple mew โ Eunwoo โข Eunwoo is a terrifying haunted doll, you absolutely nailed your goal for creepy and terrifying. The judges are also impressed with the styling details and love that this is a complete look. โข You are so very lucky that Sera went such a literal direction this week and that the judges found that to be the worser offense between the two bottom looks. And there was much debate. While you embraced the inner tube and had amazing creativity with the look you built, you almost entirely covered it up! We had to work really hard to see it, and to appreciate a lot of the details in general due to the filter. Which while we understand all of this aesthetically, as this is a fashion competition, we need to be able to see all of the outfit. For this challenge we especially have to be able to see in the inner tube.
Serafiella โ Tessa โข You embraced the inner tube without fear, choosing one of the bolder color combinations. It was a simple look with all the finer details on point, and we would love to go to the same beach party as Tessa! โข Fondness for the look aside, the judges just think you didn't quite appreciate the challenge. You used the inner tube in a very literal way, without any creative flair. The point of the ugly challenge - more than any other - is to push yourself. To take this ugly or odd item, and put it into a look in an unexpected way. That is what was lacking, and sadly, is why we had to say goodbye this week.
