At such close range, there's no way the rat could resist the electricity. With teeth sunk into Zeke's arm, there's sure to be some force left for him to take. The rat is hit for 18HP, but he's hit with a backlash for 4HP. He's also left wide open in a temporary state of paralysis to get pounded on by the remaining rats for a total of 3HP. Zeke isn't actually paralyzed, however.

While Zeke is senseless, Bowser takes a moment to speed things up. No. He doesn't actually aid. He's not attacking the rats. Rather, he takes a scoop of some sewer water, as gross as it is, and splatters it on the floor and rats...
Cross quickly realizes Ben's target and sidesteps it as he lets two swings of his sword take on two more goomba. Ben's target takes a hit for 7HP while Cross delivers a whooping 13HP to each of his targets. That's two more down, and one more to go! It's too bad it levels a critical against Cross for 2HP as a reminder.

Feeling the electricity pour into the rat and then into him wasn't entirely the greatest feeling in the world... However, the rat quickly let go and fell down to the ground, electrocuted to death. Zeke's legs felt stiff and he quickly took three slashes to the back.
Struggling a bit, Zeke finally managed to turn around, but not before hearing a splashing sound. Simply ignorning the sound, probably caused by a rat or something, Zeke began forming another spell...
Electricity danced all along his palm and his fingertips. Soon it formed into a ball and was launched at one of the rats. Zeke followed the ball of electricity as it whizzed through the air at one of the rats.
"Spark!"

=With one goomba left to go, Benjamin can see where this is going. They've managed to get quite near the entrance to the Mushroom Kingdom, so felling the last one will mean a free ticket to safety! He aims his palm at the last, remaining goomba and forms a clear orb of light around the forsaken beast.=

The spell is far faster than Zeke, and that's probably a good thing. As soon as the spell hits the first rat, it almost appears to ricochet off. A hazard is in effect! This field effect causes the electric spell to follow paths along the water to find the quickest ground. Each rat takes a hit for 11HP! The smell of cooked rat plus sewer...stuff just can't be good on Zeke's nose... In any event, it's now clear sailing to the exit.

Cross watches as Benjamin takes out the last goomba. With a quick nod and thumbs up to his apparent ally, he looks over to the gates to the city. With a quick shout, he decides to check if everybody's doing fine.

"Hey! How's it going?" Peach quickly smiles and touches him on the shoulder. "You can look now. You've escorted us to the outer rim of my Mushroom Kingdom. Now then..." Luigi walks up and opens the outer door. Peach nods at him before continuing. "...you two can lead us in."

Watching the electricty completely destroy all the rats was quite a sight to see. They all quickly fried, as well as whatever was in the water, which gave off a horrible odor.
Holding his nose, Zeke turned back to Bowser and smiled as he started walking again. "Well, they're all dead, and the exit is just up ahead." He said as he walked towards the light.

=Letting out a sigh of relief, Benjamin looks back over the battle damage. It looks like, this time, those pesky goombas didn't leave anything worth salvaging behind... Well. They didn't exactly use tools and such to fight. The only thing they could leave behind are their bodies... He looks towards Peach and the others. It would seem the task is done. He starts walking into the city.=

A hard slap on the back is Zeke's reward as he exits into a barren wasteland. Bowser walks around and takes a good, hard look at the state of things. "It doesn't look like them cretins had done much to my place." He looks up towards the towers. "Ever'thin's in order." Then he turns to Zeke. "Gimme that broken key and yer staff."
Quest Complete!
Zeke acquired two levels. The first four dice represent his level bonus. The first pair is his Level 4 bonus and the second pair is his Level 5 bonus. He may choose one dice from each pair!
Zeke acquired Level 4 bonus All Spell basic level spell.
Zeke acquired Level 5 Mage bonus! All stats increase by +1. Zeke has acquired four Mage Spell amateur level spell and Mage Ability amateur level ability. Zeke has learned a new technique!
The quest reward will be determined shortly.

Peach holds her hand out to Cross as they enter the Mushroom Kingdom. "Would you hand me those items you got against that large goomba?" Cross looks at her kind of odd, but he does as he's asked. He hands over the spike and the vest. She smiles as she holds them. "I'll also need each of your weapons..." She makes sure to eye each Cross and Ben. With a confused look on his face, he hands over the requested wooden sword.

Digging through his pockets, Zeke quickly pulled out the key he had used before. It was worn down from the two uses. Slowly, he extended the key to Bowser.
Then he fingered his staff, wondering what Bowser was going to do. However, he held out his staff in the other hand as well, trusting the big lizard. Hopefully this would pay off. If not, well, then he'd no longer have one worn-out key and a plain staff.

=Benjamin just kinda...looks at the plastic lightsaber that had managed to follow him here. He doesn't know how, and he really never cared. With a light shrug, he hands it over to Peach. Maybe he'd get something not quite as embarrassing for a weapon later. This plastic stuff... How was he supposed to fight with it? At least Cross' wooden sword could be backed by his strength.=

What Zeke is witness to isn't too common a sight. Bowser is upgrading his weapon! the first thing he does is examine the staff, scoffing it for its basic design. He spits fire onto the ground, instantly creating a small patch of molten rock. He digs his fist into that molten rock with the key in hand to shatter and melt the created shards. Once satisfied, he brings his hand and the shards out and wraps his palm around the knot of the staff. As he does this, he tightly grips the staff creating a part of it that is nearly as solid as rock. What Zeke receives as Bowser hands the weapon back to him is the Shard Staff!
Peach takes the goomba spike and strange vest key items from Cross as well as his wooden blade. She hands the strange vest and Benjamin's plastic lightsaber over to Daisy. She gives her a nod before continuing on her project. A light surrounds her and begins to pour into the blade and spike as they begin to meld into each other. Cross watches as his blade changes form from a wood grain finish to something more resembling metal. The wood grain of the blade changes into a pearl-finish somewhat resembling the spike while maintaining an elongated blade appearance. Other than the color and slight shape change, it still resembles the katana bokken he's grown used to. What Cross receives back is the Spike Blade!
Daisy takes a moment to observe what Peach is doing before observing the items she was given. The vest the goomba staffer was wearing doesn't seem to fit very well with a weapon, but the properties within the vest match perfectly to the job type Benjamin seems to be taken. With a nod, she begins repeating what Peach did before her. Daisy begins to surround the items in a strange light and glow before they begin melding together. Instead of the plastic lightsaber changing shape, color, or appearance, a light glow begins to come from it. It's almost to faint to see, but it appears to be a deep blue. The item just feels more suited to some kind of defense than offense, and what Benjamin receives back is the Wrap Lightsaber!

Watching Bowser silently, the staff that Zeke had woke with was transformed by the giant lizard. It now looked more powerful than the simple wooden staff it once was.
When Bowser held the staff back out towards Zeke, Zeke slowly extended his hand and grabbed it. The staff was heavier than it had been before, but that was to be expected. Also, the staff seemed to have evolved. It was as if more power had been awakened or possibly instilled into the staff.
"It's magnificent. I wonder, how'd you learn to do such things?" Zeke asked Bowser as he grabbed the staff in two hands and planted the bottom of the staff on the ground. Then Zeke shifted his weight, so that he was leaning on the staff while he waited for Bowser's answer.

=Benjamin takes the new weapon and holds it for a moment. He takes a second to swing it and sighs. It's still just a plastic toy...just improved. As he takes in a deep breath, he slowly turns from the group and begins walking inside the Kingdom walls. At the very least, maybe he can find solace in the fact he feels better protected...=
So... Where we going?

Bowser has this half-smirk on his face as he looks over his shoulder. A koopa fast approaches, one of those with wings. He takes a careful look at it as he fully turns around to face it. He's seen enemies turn his loyal troops agains him before, and he's not about to let his guard down. "Your majesty!" Bowser's smirk turns into a full grin. "I got skills nobody knows of." The Koopa King holds his hand up to stop his subordinate. "I want you to send word to the Mushroom Kingdom. There's gonna be a human for 'em to pick up in Border Town." The winged koopa looks at Zeke then back to Bowser. "Yes sir! I'll escort him myself!" Bowser turns to Zeke. "You'll follow this minion 'ere to Border Town. Nearest town to the Mushroom Kingdom."
Cross takes hold of his new blade. He takes careful notice of the weight as he holds it out. It feels nice and solid and well balanced. He likes it. As he turns to Peach and Daisy, he give them a gentle bow. "Thanks a lot." Then he notices that the both of them have up and upgraded Marie and Sarah's weapons, too. It makes sense, but they weren't supposed to get involved in any battles. Peach walks up with a few words to say. "The first thing we need to do is get over to my castle so we can explain the situation. I've also heard there's supposed to be a messenger from across the border." There's a slight worried tone to her voice. Cross nods his head and decides Ben has the right idea. "All right! Let's go!"

Watching as the Koopa King and the winged koopa talked. It seemed as if Zeke was headed towards a place called "Border Town." Though, it was supposedly close to the Mushroom Kingdom, which Zeke was very familiar with... Maybe he'd be lucky enough to meet the Nintendo Superstar Mario himself.
Looking up at the winged koopa, Zeke nods. "Well, I'm ready to leave whenever you are. Also, Bowser, thanks. Although you actually made me work to get out of the dungeon, I appreciate the help when you did give it. Maybe we'll see each other again sometime." Zeke said as he began to follow the winged koopa to Border Town.
