I say if it's a story about weapons, make weapons a focus, and give the weapons the mystical-powers of-whatever-the-fook. If it is about people, make it about people.
Humans are pathetic. I know! Why don't you throw in a human that isn't pathetic, just to throw everybody off with a creature the likes have never been seen, or accepted in the least!!!

Perhaps elements could work as a sort of median for their true majesty, the likes have never been seen!!

Hmmm...give each member a different element!
That way there is a balance of power.

Okay, you guys don't get it, so I guess I have to tell you my whole idea.
There are four main characters. Three best friends. 2 girls, 1 guy.
I know for sure that one of the girls, and the guy will have magical powers of sorts. The other one may "discover" their powers sometime in the future.
Strange things start happening, and this strange new guy tracks them down to "Wake up" their powers to save the world.
I was thinking elemental creatures that can fuse with the weapons. And maybe somebody evil controlling elements.
And no Dante, no talking swords. mad

Reminds me too much of Talatsu.
Although I'm not sure if Talatsu ever did actually speak, I think Skurai just thought he was hearing s**t. rofl [/Ragnarok]
But seriously, I hate talking swords.

I love Raganarok, Skurai was awesome I thought he looked cooler with the short hair. 3nodding (Loki and Chaos were a great team as well.)

The antagonist should absolutely have a talking sword that only he/she can hear!!
It would represent his/her misunderstood soul/path/destin.
And... It would make me laugh!

Okay, yeah, I would put a talking sword in for that.
I can just see the first time they meet the "bad guy."
-he talks to sword- "What the hell" "HE UNDERSTANDS ME" "... rofl "
