By the time we got there, a lot of the set had already been completely trashed by locals and tourists, dying to take home a piece of the phenomenon--despite the fact that that picture is from the very day that PPirates of the Carribean premiered in America.Recognise, anyone? wink wink

Depp. Okay, the real reason it was so huge was because not only was Depp in it, but so was Orlando Bloom. Depp is very well known for being in quirky cult-classics, and Orlando Bloom made his break in LOTR...as far as I know. Get the two together, and you have a cult classic. Seriously, if they'd gotten 2 other actors, Pirates would NOT be a huge movie.
