That, and uncanny hammer-dodging skills.

problem is that Skuld is pretty good at using ropes and chains. She'd be pretty good with hammerchucks and stuff.

We sparred against each other one time and her defense is pretty decent with the variation of needlewhips.

I prefer spears. Gives you a healthy distance to keep someone at bay.

Unless you get caught by the lasso... But as much as I like spears, 9 feet of stick or more can get annoying when someone gets in close. You lose most of your power close in. But every weapon has its weakness.

Thats why you carry a handweapon.
But beyond that, in order to know a weapon's strengths, you have to know its weaknesses first.

isnt' that backwards though? shouldn't the spear be the last resort?

It goes Javelin, then spear, then shortsword, then dagger.
Dagger is always last resort.

I'm just gonna assume by Spear you mean Rifle mounted Bayonett. But where the hell did you get a sword?

Most people buy them from pawn shops or stores in the mall. Personally, I prefer damascus steel or chino-japanese folding techniques.
