OMG, after 2 months of raised and crushed hopes, I have a mantis. A speck of of a mantis, but a mantis no less. The little guy looks like an ant.
Ok, so here is me attempting to feed the mantis-
Me, carefully takes mantis out of tub, and lets it crawl around on a lid with a fruitfly. Mantis crawls one way, fruitfly the other, occassionally passing right by eachother. After a few missed passes, the mantis sees it, but zoom the fruitfly is on the move. So there I am, trying to gently coax the fruit fly over to the mantis while keeping the mantis from crawling on me. Then suddenly, mantis crawls on the tip of my finger, fruitfly crawls on the tip of my finger, mantis sees fruitfly, mantis stalks fruitfly, mantis catches fruitfly off of my finger, and mantis eats fruitfly on the tip of my finger. I try to be like a tree and not move for ten minutes. gonk xd whee heart
Tis really such a little speck at this point, it will just be a wait and see if he/she makes it. If I can get the little guy through one shedding, I'll probably feel more comfortable, but right now it is hard to say if all will go well. He/she is just so tiny.
Here is a picture that shows what my babies species looks like at this tender young age. He is a ghost mantis, and looks like the top picture of a hatchling- http://www.exotic-pets.co.uk/ghost-mantis.html

Thanks everyone, and Affy, I wouldn't be surprised, I think you can find them all over most of the U.S. to varying degrees.
And yes, very tiny, I'm used to the size, but normally I hatch them, thus I keep a bunch of tiny ones to make sure I will have one that makes it to a good size. Guess you can say I'm a nervous mommy cause I only have one and probably won't be getting another one anytime soon. I just pray his health is good and he grows up to be a healthy strong mantis.

Lyrim- Mantises are seasonal insects, born in the spring, die in the winter sort of bugs. Most usually live somewhere between six months and a year, depending on the species, the tempetature they are kept at, and how much food they are offered. This one I just got is a long lived mantis is suppose to live around a year. Really their short life expectancy is the one thing I would change about mantises if I could. Such little sweethearts and it is always sad to loose them so early by human standards.
And yah, mantises can kick some major butt, especially when they are hungry. XD
Manda/Kaky- You guys are two funny. Who knows though, the name would fit. He is a ghost mantis, and he will be driven to catch everything in his sight. I agree with Cobra though, you so need to do a picture with a ghost mantis or maybe Danny as a ghost mantis. rofl
Diana- Thanks, I'm glad I got some good news for once too. Hate being a mopy mantis all the time.
Cobra- Yay, you passed the GED... ok I have no idea what that test is for. Is it the one for graduate school? It's always nice though to see you have most of the knowledge you need and don't need to prep much.
Feline Apathy- You can buy mantises at your garden shop?!?!?! I'm so jealous. Well for one, I'm in the U.S. and this isn't a U.S. mantis so don't see these guys sold for anything but pets. Really main difference is temperment, eating habits, growth stages, looks, and those sort of things. Kind of like how tigers and lions are both felines but they are different all the same. One of the things I find most interesting about this species is they can be kept together in the same cage with usually no cannaziblation (sp?). One day I would like to get 3-5 of them and house them together in my own little swarm of mantisness. XD
