"Don't worry, I've never been that bad." And Aden had no desire to ever try and achieve the goals of a human vacuum. "Besides, that'd lead to the worst headline imaginable."

Darksol88 "Don't worry, I've never been that bad." And Aden had no desire to ever try and achieve the goals of a human vacuum. "Besides, that'd lead to the worst headline imaginable." "Yea, really. 'This just in. Death by Waffle.' Yea, classic for the local newspaper here." I said to him. Like the day before, it was a breakfast bar, all for the choosing for Aden, and with that in mind, I went on ahead and paid for our meals.

That line alone led to an amusing thought to Aden, involving finding where Jackie's house was and leaving a solitary waffle on his doorstep. Or at the doorstep of the gym, one. Maybe put a face on it too... nah, the whole notion was just silly. He dismissed it immediately. "Yeah, that ranks up there with 'Death by Pancake, Whipped Cream suspected accomplice'."
Perhaps it was a weird bit of caution that led to Aden avoiding a waffle today. Just in case some really weird thing did happen. He settled on a similar thing to the day before, but did add a couple of pancakes to it. Just as before, he also got a couple plates full of assorted berries, this time so that the rest of his Pokemon might be able to get something. He still wasn't sure on how Poliwhirl managed to eat anything at all, though.

Eggs, biscuits, sausage...some packets of grape jelly...and a couple of pancakes topped with syrup then made my way off for the table to sit down and enjoy. "Well, whatever the case, you ready for today, Aden? This is a whole different story, with Falkner and all." I said. "But, get by him, it will be your first badge. The Zephyr Badge, to be exact."

"Yeah." Aden nodded. "I think the excitement kept me up a little last night. I'm fine now, though. Still not sure which three to use in the end, but I think I'll figure it out. Just gotta keep it from getting to me."
His Pokemon, having been let out so they could get some of the berries, looked to him for a second. Why only three?"

"Well, just one of those gym battle tests that you got to figure out, to say the least." I said to him. "My advice to you, Aden, in this regard? Figure it out in the battle, and not before it. For as all you know while you may have decided to use say...Mareep, Poliwhirl, and Nidoran, something may have came up where you would of thought 'Oh, I should have used Raticate'. Go as the battle demands of it." I said to him. "Keep the options open, as it were."

Aden nodded. "That's what I did with Jackie... hey." He looked to his Pokemon for a second. They looked a little tense from the discussion, other than Mareep who still didn't know too much on it. "There's a reason your eyes are in front of your head. If they were in the back, you'd never push forward and remember too much of how things were. We've got this, alright?"
The four soon went back to eating, unsure of what just happened. A few seconds later, Aden finished off a piece of toast. "Okay, getting out of my dad's head now."

"........its perhaps not you getting into your father's head but you probably instead having a bit of insight of what he's been talking about to you all this time before now." I said with a bit of a laugh before going back to eating.

"I dunno, he didn't say stuff like that that much. Definitely had the insight, though." Aden said, shrugging. Sometimes, he was more like his old man than he'd care to admit.

I said. In the back of my mind, though, I thought that it was a shame that alleged insight didn't get himself to realize what he did with Aden sooner. To be honest, while it was settled between he and I, I was still a bit sore with how he sent Aden off like that. Even newcomers to the whole world of Pokemon would known more than Aden did at the time. But I digress, I suppose. I started to finish off my plate and gave a content sigh. Who says hospital food is always horrid? "Well, whenever you're ready Aden."

"Yeah, I'm ready." Aden said, finishing the little bit left on his plate and standing up. "How about the rest of you?"
He looked to see that the plate had long since been polished. Any efforts to figure out how Poliwhirl ate was in vain again. "...I'll take that as a yes." With a shrug, he grabbed the plate and put it on top of his own.

I said getting up from the table. I took my own plate. "You and your team are going to be in for a serious battle. But you don't need me to tell you that. But I believe you are going to be just fine." I said, giving Aden a pat on the back.

"Yeah... we've got this, right guys?"
Three of his Pokemon responded to confirm. Mareep was quiet.
"...and girl." Aden didn't think he'd have to correct himself like that, but considering that she was the odd one amongst the four, maybe it was just a phase. Mareep did confirm afterward.
Taking both plates and getting them where they needed to go, he nodded and started on out. It was high time he paid Falkner that visit.

After stashing the plates, I made my way out of the Pokemon Center and once again accompanied Aden off to the gym. This is going to be even more serious of a battle than the one yesterday with Jackie. I only hoped that Aden truly was ready for this. It wouldn't be long until we did actually arrive at the gym and I held the door open for Aden.

Aden still wasn't sure if he was truly ready for this, and was a little nervous as he walked inside the gym. But, still having a bit of determination for a change, he didn't hesitate for a second as he got to the elevator. He'd wait for Blizzard to get there himself before having it go up, a Pokeball kept firmly in his hand.
