I'm always glad to hear things are going well, sis ^^ I look forward to playing WoW with you again :3

And let me ask a question: Is it unreasonable for me to think that I shouldn't have to ask my roommates to help with the shoveling, considering we all live in the same house and should be expected to just do it?
If they're not doing it, ask them. You have every right to since you all live in the same place and share the same responsibilities.

I don't think I have to ask them, is the thing. If they're not busy, and they really never are, they should figure I might like some help if I'm shoveling by myself

you shouldn't have to ask. Something like that should be shared in duties and if they see that someone is having a hard time at doing it alone, then they should help without being asked to

So....I feel like snot. Road trip to Florida was just Hell on wheels, no question about it.

First off, my mom wasn't even sure if we should go, since my uncle has cancer and he's not looking good. But everyone in the family insisted that we go, so we packed our bags and I came over to spend the night on Sunday evening (since we were leaving Monday morning). We even dragged my 15-year-old brother along, even though he wasn't even sure that he wanted to come.

So Monday comes along, and Mom has the flu. She's our ONLY driver. But knowing that this could be our LAST chance to get the rest of my things from Florida before SUMMER, we push on anyway. As payment for this MASSIVE favor she's doing for me, I have to read her textbooks out loud to her so she doesn't fall behind in her college classes, since she obviously can't read while driving. Not a problem right? The books I have to read? "The Last Dance" which is about death and dying and the ethics involved, "The History of God" which I'm sure you can guess what that's about, and "The Holy Bible." Fortunately I didn't have to read the Bible (ran out of time for that one) but I wanted to GOUGE MY EYES OUT WITH A MINNOW for "The History of God". That wasn't fun. Oh, and me and my brother caught her flu (well, I just got a cold for it, my brother got the flu part...my immune system just rocks).

We decide to take the trip in 3 days, spending 2 nights at various aunts and uncles houses since my mom is so ill. We spent Tuesday night in SC with my uncle, and while there we got a call saying that my uncle with cancer has started to ask for his family. Instant panic. So Wednesday we take off from my uncle's house in SC and drive the rest of the way to Miami. In Jacksonville we stop and rent a U-Haul so that we can bring ALL of my things back to Vermont with me. We make it to Miami, spend about 2 hours packing up the U-Haul (which was really too big for my stuff, but it was the smallest they had and we were desperate), turned around and started BACK to SC. Our intent was to pick my uncle up along the way so that he could be there for the dying uncle. But he couldn't arrange it with work on such short notice, so we left him in SC and pressed on to Virginia to pick up my aunt. Before we arrived though, we were called by my grandfather (who's been giving us the updates on my dying uncle's condition). He informed us that Vermont was expecting another massive blizzard, and that he wanted us to stay in Viginia for another day and head out on Saturday. My aunt and uncle were totally against that (and so was I for that matter) so this morning we left around 5am in hopes of beating this blizzard. We weren't entirely successful.

Between Virginia and Vermont, I had called my boyfriend to inform him that I was coming home, and I was bringing a trailer, and could I pretty please park it at his place until the next day? He said no problem, he'd start clearing out a spot. A couple of hours later, his mother calls back and says that her lease doesn't allow for things like a trailer to just be hanging around the property, and she didn't want to get in trouble for that. But there was NO place else we could think of to park the trailer. She was nice enough to located a U-Haul station where we could return it within the same town though, so we decided to bring the trailer to Swanton, unload it, and return it...all today. By the time we were 90 miles from home (within the state even) we got another call from my grandfather informing us that the situation had become desperate, and that my dying uncle needed to see his family ASAP. Time to haul a** in a blizzard with a U-Haul. We ended up just coming to Fairfax and ALL the way I was trying to keep my poor boyfriend informed of what's going on, and within a couple of hours the conversation went along the lines of "we're bringing the trailer to Swanton...we're keeping it in Fairfax....now we're bringing the trailer to Swanton...no, we're keeping it in Fairfax..." My poor boyfriend just wanted to know what was going on, but by that point I was just so stressed that I snapped at him. He offered to come pick me up, but EVERYONE was saying that the roads were just too bad.

So now I'm stranded at my parent's house in Fairfax, and I just wanna go home so I can say that this nightmare of a trip is finally over, but no...a BLIZZARD just HAD to hit today, and now I'm stuck here waiting for someone to call me to tell my that my uncle is dead! crying

How was everyone elses day?

Not nearly as bad as yours was, Manda.

Okay, we're driving to Muskogee on the turnpike and my aunt says she forgot the PikePass, ya know, the little thing that lets you go on instead of paying a machine or teller? Well, we get to the machine and she drops a couple quarters on the ground, missing the bucket thing. My heart rate escalates dramatically as three or four cars pull up behind us and my aunt misses the bucket AGAIN. I go "For God's sake, just get the damn thing in." and my aunt is pissed off at me and calls me an a*****e. I don't care because I WAS an a*****e. Sorry, but I have a low tolerance for stress and when you're holding up traffic you're gonna have some pissed off people on your hands.

We get to the apartment complex my dad lives at, drive around and try to find his mailbox for half an hour (none of them have clearly written box numbers), finally find it, and by now I'm in a horrible mood. I'm stressed out, my aunt is harping at me, and I just want to go home. However, she stops at the bookstore for me and I get the latest FMA Graphic Novel. That brightened my day substantially.

I get home, have to put wood in the wood holder for my aunt, riding back and forth on the four-wheeler like an eejit for twenty minutes, lest anything fall off the trailer and I have to go back and get it.

kay, my day wasn't that bad yesterday, but it wasn't far from it... brother almost broke my nose, then some drama and stuff on WoW where somebody basically attacked Ome for nothing, he went off the deep end at her, and then I saw a video cut from an episode of cops where some florida police officers bashed trans people in general x.x

Aww, (offers some hugs to Manda)

I'm sorry to hear things have been so tough lately, especially with your uncle. I hope the storm does not carry his life away in the winds before you get a chance to see him. Having a love one at death's door is never easy.

Fog- Well at least you were able to get a manga out of it. XD

Terra- Sounds like you've had a hard time of as late. Hopefully things will settle down a bit. And glad your poor nose is ok.

You should sell it or donate it. If Kris had to quest for it, it's probably worth a pretty shiny penny!

Or you could give it to me if you wanna give it away.... whee
