That is one source, but I have seen in many sources that it is the rede (the one in the Wicca for the Rest of Us one is missing a couple lines... but it's not that big of a deal is it?).

Rede
Rede again.. different site

If Wicca for the Rest of Us is the one that is correct, then I apologize for my mistake. But I got it from several online sources and books (I don't have time right now to look though all my books and see which ones have it and which don't) that have said otherwise.

Wicca For The Rest of Us is fairly accurate. Of course when in doubt - there is always Wiki. blaugh (but it does explain it well)

Lets just agree to disagree on this point for now. Especially since it wasn't the main point of my post.

My point was that you (the universal you, not you personally) shouldn't judge someone else because you don't know what that person has been through or they're reasons for why they had to do what they did.

The rede is a guide line for behavior, similar to the 10 commandments in Christianity. If someone broke one (say honer thy parents... because heck who doesn't break that one) would they be a bad person? Bad spiritually? No, they would simply be imperfect. Just as when the rede isn't fallowed to the ideal. Nobody is perfect.

Meh, it's just a label. If you don't want to be called a witch, call yourself wiccan! Though, I can sort of understand, because witch has a very negative connotation, especially to Christians, whereas you say 'wicca' and people go, 'Oh? what's that?'

i live in the bible-belt of texas. they still equate the word 'wiccan' to 'devil-worshipper'.

i wear a pentacle. it's not a TRUE pentacle, because it's five trinity knots which make up a star, with a moonstone set in the middle. i generally get these three questions, in this order:

1. "Are you Jewish?" 4laugh

2. "Are you part of the Women of the Eastern Star?" rofl

and 3. "Are you a devil-worshipper?" confused

If someone is lame enough to use ANY of those questions, I answer thusly:

"No, it's just a pretty knotwork star. I'm into the RenFaire and celtic stuff, and I like stars. It's the perfect combination of both, and my husband bought it for me for my birthday one year."

yeah, in louisiana they still attatch negativity to the word witch...
so i would prefer to be called wiccan, just to avoid conflict.

I don't care either way. A label is nothing to get worked up about.

I'm glad your laughing. Most people don't even know what I'm talking about half the time.

Which tells me I'm not crazy. EVERYONE ELSE is crazy. twisted
