'Quiet little grey mouse,
What have you heard?
Behind those closed doors,
No one is allowed?'

Quiet little grey mouse,
What have you seen?
Secrets meant to be hidden,
Not seen in the light?

Saeven tried to rest at home, but it continued to elude him. He honestly didn't need to rest for awhile yet, though he could use another feeding sometime soon. When that time came he decided he'd contact his cousins, he hadn't seen them in awhile and it was best to keep them assured that he was on their side, it kept them from getting too curious. If they became curious, they may discover his secret. He couldn't let anyone of his family, or the rest of the Fangs, to discover he was a part of the Unit. He also couldn't let anyone in the Unit discover he was in tight with, and even related to, a major branch of the Fangs.

If Emilia found out, he chuckled wryly, well he could only imagine the rage the werewolf girl would go into. She wouldn't wait for him to explain, she would, quite possibly attack him then and there. With a sigh Saeven heaved himself up out of the chair he had perched on and struck out for the training grounds near today's meeting point. He needed to release some of the pent up anger from the torching of the Vampire child.

Any who knew Saeven would tell you that he never got riled up, never acted rashly. Well they would only be half right. Someone in his position couldn't afford to act rashly; that is what kept him from acting at the funeral when the girl had been set alight. If he had been an open member of the Unit he would have hunted down every last being, be they werewolf, human or vampire, until he had found the culprit. But doing so would earn him a silver dagger in the heart. Or perhaps Celena would take her time with him, experimenting as she is wont to do.

He reached the training grounds just before Kageko made her way to the practice dummies. Saeven remained in the trees, watching the girl from afar. Just after she drew her weapon and before she landed the first blow on the dummy, Saeven threw one of his many throwing daggers and impaled the dummy right between where the eyes would be. He walked out of the trees, a smirk on his face, mixing oddly with his child like features. "Good morning miss Kageko." He said quietly as he approached, the wind carrying his greeting before he ever reached her.

'Quiet little grey mouse,
What have you felt?
Tremors of cold fear,
Reverberating in the night?

Quiet little grey mouse,
What have you smelt?
Lies permeating the air,
Assaulting your senses?'

Kageko tensed at the gleam of the knife right before it pierced the dummy, immediately starting an analysis of the energies around her. In a moment, she realized that it was Saeven.
However, she had already looked startled so she decided to turn around with a frightened look in her eyes, only letting out a sigh of relief when it was plausible for her to have seen who it was that had tossed the dagger. "Y-you don't have to call me 'miss,'" Kageko put a stutter into her voice to complete the illusion as she replied to Saeven, "Especially since you're older than me." She scratched the back of her head and looked down embarrased. The embarrasment was true enough, she really didn't like being called "miss", but it also helped her maintain the image of being startled.
It was true that both she and Saeven were in the Unit; however, that didn't mean that she trusted him, or really anybody for that matter. She was probably the weakest in the Unit, so she needed to be crafty to make up for it; she needed the element of surprise if she was ever going to survive in a fight.

He laughed at her attempt at craftiness. It was true, he couldn't read thoughts or feelings, but could only hide his own. Working both sides of the field though, he had learned a thing or two about reading emotions displayed on a persons face. This girl was no master. His cousins he couldn't read, for they had hundreds of years of practice. Kageko had no such practice. She truly was embarrassed though, that much was evident.

To fluster her further, he decided to play up the humbleness on his part. He bowed slightly to her, hiding the smile on his face as he looked at her feet. "My apologies, Kageko." He looked back up, his face serious, though his eyes still shone with humor.

"I..." Rolias blinked as the woman passed him, his gaze flitting between the vampire and her. He was sure that her race wasn't human and her skin was much too tanned to resemble that of a vampire... He gasped slightly. He had never had an audience with a concious werewolf.

"Her... Her bandages are in need of changing very soon..." Rolias, with a tut, stalked back into the room and looked down to the werewolf, clearly aggravated. "On what grounds do you waltz in here and disturb the girl in such a way?"

"Merely to ask the child a few questions, to find any clues about who did this to her," answered Angeles from the door. She folded her arms, she would not enter, but she would listen, respecting the werewolf's request to not interfere with the investigation as it had been set on her path. She eyed the doctor though, he was a brave one, not arrogant, but brave, to tell a werewolf and vampire what to do.

Then again this was his hospital, he had authority here over anyone that had the decency to listen and respect his words.

Kageko thought to herself while continuing her facade, That was a little lesson that she learned from her mentor. She unconsciously backed away when he bowed, but decided to work that into her act, "U-ummm. You really don't need to." She looked at his eyes, just glancing would've probably been more suspicious, and saw the humor. Only after a while had passed, did see glance away, seemingly embarrased. Saeven was teasing her, just like the majority of the Unit. For what, she didn't know seeing how most of the Unit was better than her in pretty much everything. She considered going all out in her little act but decided not to, it would be best to keep that little trick up her sleeve for when she actually needed to use it against an enemy.
Kageko now had several options. She could either take the knife out of the dummy and give it back, go over to another training ground, or ask why Saeven was here. Her curiousity got the better of her and she decided to ask, "Errr.... Why are you here so early?"

"If only they could speak a little louder..." Ria thought, pressing her ear to the wooden door of the counsil room. She had hidden herself behind a large curtain at the vicinity of the door, as she watched the stern faces of those who entered, father included. So far, that was the only thing Ria had been able to find out.

"So the Unit was sent to investigate the explosion at the funeral..." she managed to listen. "Shouldn't they be investigating the Queen's murder? Unless that's the only lead they have..." Ria said to herself. She turned around as she heard footsteps echoing on the marble floor, coming towards her direction. "Now what?" she thought, as her mind tried to find a plausible solution for her presence at these parts of the building. The King had allowed her to walk around the palace, but even Ria was aware that eavesdroping at a counsil meeting was going too far.

Emilia looked at the girl in silence. She heard the man speaking and then the vampire answering while staying at the door. The werewolf appreciated the gesture. She tried to remember why that vampire was not part of the Unit. Something between Louis and her? Or was it that she refused? Emilia did not remember and at that moment it was not the question.

The werewolf had a smirk coming to her lips when she noted that Rolias had no clue who she was. Unit members had crossed his path in the past, even she had, however it had been by night and the poor human had had no way to identify her. She wondered if he remembered the episode.

Her body and face still wrapped in black clothes, Emilia stood back up.

She turned to the man.

"So far we have disturbed no one but you." she said with her voice at a low level to avoid awakening the girl who was still sleeping. She did not realize that her words could sound harsh.

She made a couple of steps away from the bed, towards the window. She sighed.

"Countess, you might be able to learn more than I would." She spoke her eyes looking outside.
Questioning the child would bring nothing, but everyone was aware of the white hair vampire's ability when it came to reading minds.

Emilia came to an halt and turned back to Rolias, the movement revealed her second eye brown and dark, contrasting with the icy blue which had been previously visible. She looked at the man from head to toe.
"You are not going to like what I am going to say." she paused. "Please, go ahead and change her bandages." The only clue she could find would be by looking at the wounds and then talking with the surgeon to learn what he found when he healed the child. "I mean...now." she added, her tone rather tired, her eyes on the blond hair man.

Rolias blinked again, shaking his head. He really didn't understand this situation. However much he wondered who the woman thought she was, waltzing in and commanding him, he thought it would be safest for himself, his patient and his hospital if he just followed along.

With a submissive sigh, he leaned down and gently rubbed one of her shoulders, whispering into her ear that it was time to wake as her bandages were due to be changed. The girl whined in protest, proclaiming how much the treatment hurt, but Rolias simply smiled and shook his head, taking one of her hands and stroking its back comfortingly.

"I'm sorry sweetheart, but it's the only way for you to get better..." He cast a look to Emilia and Angeles, furrowing his brow briefly before gently scooping the girl up and taking her into the bathing room - cool water remained the only way to ease her pain during the process.

He leaned closer to Kageko, pulling his knife out of the dummy in one swift movement. He looked thoughtful as he considered her question, tossing the knife up and down, the blade flashing as it caught the sunlight. "Well, for one, I couldn't get any sufficient rest with the events of yesterday still rebounding in my skull. He flashed her a disarming smile, though most would back away, for the grin took on a slightly menacing appearance. "And for two, I prefer to train in this... weakened state that we, well, us vampires, all invariably have. I know the limits of my natural state, but now, I can really test myself.

He caught himself before he explained more. What in the hells was wrong with him? He never spoke so much, preferring to gain knowledge. Perhaps it was the thought that he could be found out, at any moment by either side that he was working for one of the enemies that had him riled up at the moment. He shook his head slightly, hair whipping about his face. 'Damnit what is wrong with me today?' His barriers slipped and his thought and feelings over flowed. Anger directed at himself, confusion, and a multitude of feelings buried deeper.

This was not good. This could not happen. He gritted his teeth and carefully set to rebuilding the barriers. The girl had probably gotten a good feel on his feelings at his moment of weakness, but then again perhaps not. He Saeven didn't know the extent of Kageko's ability but he did know that it was a very good thing that he had not had such a powerful lapse in the presence of either of his cousins. The thought nearly made him break out in a sweat.

If that had happened around those two... He shuddered visibly, well, he wouldn't have lived to see another day. Well, no, he might have seen another day, another fortnight even. But he would have lived those days as his cousins little experiment. The thought was enough so that his barriers, tenuously rebuilt, fell once more and he had to concentrate to rebuild them to his standards again. He sighed quietly.

Kageko instinctively backed away as Saeven leaned towards her. As he talked, she felt his energy turn uneasy. She didn't know the cause or the type of uneasiness the vampire was experiencing but she could feel something off about his aura. she thought to herself, maintaing the same expression as before, She decided not to ask Saeven what was wrong, and instead acted and looked as if she hadn't felt anything. True enough, immediately after the outbreak of energy, she felt him calm himself down, the only hint to that being the fact that she didn't feel the uneasy energy anymore.
However, she felt the uneasiness gush out again, this time with a physical shiver, and just as quickly be hidden. Unable to maintain the same expression without being suspected, Kageko changed her face from that of innocent curiousity to that of worry when she saw him shudder. As she changed expressions, she asked, "A-are you alright?" to complete the picture.

Emilia followed the man in silence. She remained at the entrance of the bathroom after closing the door. From there she could see the wounds ...and they were not pretty. Emilia winced for the kid and for the poor doctor who was putting his life in danger every time he was carrying the child. Now was day time but even...

The werewolf looked at the wounds, trying to find clues. The only thing that she could see was that the projectile had one purpose: kill the closest beings. Might they be human, vampire or wolf, the goal was to kill. The fact that the child was still alive was a miracle and partly due to the care of the surgeon.

Emilia had seen enough, she stepped outside, closing the door gently and waited, looking out the window. Now she needed to talk with the surgeon, but first she would let him the child.

The woman had to admit that she was impressed by the man. He had tried to speak up without being cocky and had understood quickly when to remain quiet and do as he was told. She was impressed that he was healing any kind of patient. On the other hand, she was sure that he would do everything to save someone from one of the Factions even if they were murderers.
She leaned against the wall, facing the bathroom door and waited. She was tired.

Erik sat in the light and waited as time passed. His whip was slung very limply by his side. He stood up on the rooftop he'd been on. He watched the activity below him and jumped. It wasn't a far fall, but it astounded onlookers anyway. He walked solemnly down the street, feeling slightly off. He felt anger in himself, at himself. He hated vampires, as he'd lost his family to them, but humans, they were another matter. It was only for fear of his life that he continued on his path. He perked up a bit on his path. He looked deeply into the distance and saw nothing, his path was pretty clear. He was still wearing blood red clothes, looking as new as ever. He smiled at the sky, a kind of madness. He tightened his whip so it wouldn't be stolen. He didn't know why he felt better walking down the street. He would have to return soon. Some people looked at him strangely. Others even stranger at his whip. It had a metal tip so they were afraid he'd cut them. "Yes?" He asked, already irate from not eating in a while. They ran away quickly as Erik continued along his way. He felt his scar with a grim laugh. He unwrapped the whip and started to crack the ground with it, making a horrible cracking sound.

Well, it was a good thing that the girl's powers were as limited as they were. If he had experienced a lapse like that before one of the others who could read thoughts, he would have been in serious trouble. Even if they had been one of the Unit. If it had been Louis that had seen this lapse, he would have berated Saeven, but would not have acted harshly.

Saeven watched the girl back away as he pulled the knife out of the dummy. He mentally wondered at that, she should know that during the day he was no more powerful then a human. Though perhaps some sixth sense, well seventh sense, told her that he was still stronger then she in this state, albeit not by much. "I am fine, Kageko, just a little... worried, I suppose you could say. What if whoever moved during the funeral pyre should go after the remaining Kings, or even the Unit?"

This he was truly worried about. King Fenris was devastated by the loss of his love and King Christopher seemed distanced from it all, might he try to take total control for himself? And would King Fenris snap himself out of this depression in order to bring order once more? Another question presented itself on a regular basis. Who would become the new Werewolf King or Queen? Whoever it was... would they be kind and just as Queen Charlotte? Or would they be conniving, lying, trying to get their race above all others?

Saeven contemplated this all as he continued to toss the knife up and down. He stopped, grabbing the handle of it. They were at the tip of the knife, a hairsbreadth to either side and they would plummet, to never return the way they were. Could the small Unit keep this from happening, or are their numbers to small to make such a difference? These questions worried Saeven as he knew that he could do nothing to change them except warn Louis when the Fangs were to make a move.

He sighed inwardly. He would have to visit his cousins soon if he were to get any information on the Fangs' plans. He tried to visit them as seldom as possible, preferring a life of solitude to the masochistic nature of Merus and the sadistic nature of Celena. Goosebumps raised on his arms as he thought of her last 'experiment'.

Kageko also put on a face of worry as she contemplated on telling Saeven what she thought, . She eventually decided not to, figuring that the more experienced must have already thought of it, and if he had not, then it probably wasn't worth mentioning.

However she couldn't help but think it over, the whole of which took only half a minute,
The thought led her to more troubling ideas,
She then considered if it was a human from the Blessed, "A human will gain nothing by bombing the funeral, other than to cause havoc and damage another race. In short, pure spite. However, wouldn't he have a larger effect if he had done so to the kings and Unit? Unless he doesn't want to harm the human king.... However, why not? Most of the Blessed see us neutrals as enemies already, at best annoying pests that they have to tolerate. Why wouldn't he/she not want to harm the king? Perhaps becausethey agree with the policies of the human king? But that's not possible unless the king agrees with the beliefs of the Blessed. That means that King Christopher could be a part of this plot as well....>
The idea was too complicated to delve into any further without additional information, so Kageko transitioned over to the scenario if a werewolf had caused the explosion,

As Kageko thought through all the possibilities, while maintaining her innocent look, she moved over to the side a bit, feeling slightly uncomfortable from being sandwiched between Saeven and the dummy. Her mental scenarious were finished by the time she managed to get out of the sandwich. As she moved, she looked up at the sky, predicting,

Saeven's comment also brought to mind something else. She decided to pose the question to Saeven, "Ummm.... If it's okay for me to ask," her facade was still on, "Where were you during the funeral? Emilia was a bit frustrated and I was curious as well, along with several of the others. However, Louis wouldn't say anything...." Kageko mentally noted the goosebumps that she saw out of the corner of her eye.
