Ṭhaṇḍa`Lau glanced across the gathering, watching the late comers, even later than him which was a little surprising, turn up and settle at the back of the gathering. He was not sure if he would sign up to go out past the boarders... not because he had any objection to being out there, for he had been a rogue for a long time, but for the simple fact that he had only just arrived here, and it seemed almost counter-productive in trying to learn the firekin ways to turn around and go right back out into the desert and the lush lands beyond.
Huffing softly he turned his blood-hued gaze forwards once more. For the time being he would wait and see how things unfolded... then if they needed him, he would go, but not before.

Huojin and Aodhfin both had been sitting quietly while listening to everything that was going on. there was no need for ether of them to speak up since most already spoke what was on their mind. Huojin was more than furious that he could do nothing but watch as his family was in pain from the loss of losing Nur'yu. he wished could join the sentinel, but knew he had a duty to his three cubs to stay behind and protect them from any danger than might come. ear's pinned back, he hated feeling so useless but knew his place was to stay behind to help protect the their homeland and his family. Aodhfin finally stood up and followed those who were volunteering themselves to become a sentinel. he wanted to actually take action and do something instead of doing nothing. he felt he was perfect since he had no cubs or a mate yet to keep him from joining even though he love playing uncle to his many neice's and nephews he had now. giving a glance back to Huojin, before disappearing among those wanting to volunteer themselves.

Kuza spotted her brother through the crowd and a warm smile lit her face, for no matter how serious and depressing the current situation, she loved her family. Moving from her spot, the falcon Aiolos still perched upon her back, she padded over to where Aodhfin had approached the Legate.
Smiling gently, though the haunted look in her eyes didn't entirely go away, she butted her head up under her brother's jaw in greeting. "Hey bro... how are you holding up?" hr voice was pitched low so no one but him would hear her, as she didn't exactly want any gossip to go flying round the pride, especially in the current troubled time.

Azar turned her ears to her father and listened as he spoke. She was frustrated and, although yes she was not entirely in her right mind, at the same time there was a part of her that just wanted all of this never to have happened and for life to be just carrying on, but yet at the same time she felt helpless at the idea of sitting back and not fighting at all. Actually she didn't like that idea one bit. Although to her fighting and running in like this wasn't her favorite thing to do but it was for her son and she had lost him and because of that to her there was no other option. She was just as well suited to fight as some of the other lions. Although she had cubs all were fully grown, and a litter of 10 was good enough to carry on her genes. She would love to have more but at the same time, right now, she would love even more to revenge her son that died at the paws of another.
She nodded to the regent's words and then spoke. "I know." She said simply at first angry at the fact that her father was reminding her but then she calmed and she took a deep breath in and she spoke again to her father. "I do not mind if it isn't now that I can get what I want." She said sighing and shaking her head. "But I do not want this to go on with out something done in return, Nur deserved much better that dying, apparently that is what his attacker wants himself." She said simply before speaking again. "I can't let this go." She said simply before nodding to her father. "I know what I want and I know I can handle this, you didn't promote me for no reason." She nudged her dad in a almost playful way. She wanted to remind him in a way that she could handle what she was getting ready to do. She looked at the others volunteering for fighting and of course she felt a pride seeing her pride come together to fight for it.
Kakek was more than happy to start moving toward the front to volunteer he wanted to fight and that was all to it he didn't want anyone stopping him. He loved his brother too much and he was upset. He watched his brother die and he was not up for letting this just go with out fighting for his brother and also didn't want to let his pride fight with out him helping out. He wanted to help out so bad it wasn't even funny.
however some one did get in his way and on top of that it was his father. He stood for a moment, surprised, but then extremely upset. His father was really getting in the way of him fighting for what he really wanted to. He wanted to do this and his father was getting in his way.He stood up straight and then looked around, almost frantically to other's eyes, to his mother, his grandfather's and his grandmothers and of course the other members of the pride. He waited for a moment before letting out a low growl and staring at his father he wanted him to move out of his way he didn't want anyone to stop him, even if his decision was reckless.

Teketeza was quite surprised to hear his father suddenly addressing him, especially after what had been said during the argument over who should look after Morag. As much as the hulking grey male disliked his father, he had never had any real reason for it, other than perhaps the fact that he thought that his father's role of tracker was a bit useless.
Maybe now was time to move on and get over it. It's not like he outwardly showed any positive emotions towards his family anyway, but he supposed he could make more of an effort not to expose them to as much negativity as usual. "A week sounds fair." He turned towards the Regents. "We send some of our forces to secure new sources of water. Once we've done that, we send the rest of our forces there to drink their fill. Then finally, at full strength, we will lay waste to the Nergui." Of course this wasn't an order, he simply wished to know what was what and how they were going to do things. The last part was the most important to him, so the sooner they got to it, the better.
Hratchouhi frowned at Kosuke and Ali Baba. Considering that they were with Sinbad, who she was quite sure was related to them in some way, they were being rather harsh towards him. Not to mention all the others that were now looking at Sinbad as if he was mad.
"Sinbad is right. We should be considering all options." She shook her head. "What if we go to the South in search of water and we are met with fierce resistance? We could end up losing some of our forces before we've even met the Nergui. We should at least try to obtain the new water sources peacefully."
Ukuba smiled at Thabiti, who clearly was getting better at speaking the local language each and every day. Although Ukuba's grasp on the language wasn't perfect, it was very good, and so he hoped to spend more time with the rest of the Hongshan in order to teach it.
His smile soon faded though as he registered everything that Thabiti said. It was almost laughable what was being proposed, but the red and black lion didn't find it at all amusing. "You are right. A spy would surely die." The idea to go and find more water before attacking seemed logical though. They would need all the strength they could get if they were going to attack the Nergui. With that in mind, he sat himself down at Thabiti's side, to continue to listen to what was being said.
"Thank you Thabiti." He said, offering Thabiti another small smile, as well as Tswana.

Nuria nodded at the Legate's words. First things first, of course. It made sense, and the lioness was annoyed for not thinking of it before she asked. She then rumbled with uneasy irritation as she heard voices--as few as they were--calling for negotiations for the water they so desperately required. Were they blind to the situation the pride was in? Not only that, but they were Firekin! "We are not yet weak enough to have to ask," She made a face at the word, as though it were distasteful. "And negotiating would only be wasted time if they refuse, time I don't think we should waste."

Tswana smiled back at Ukuba, though her face still somehow didn't look very warm. It was hard to feel happy, and smile sincerely at a time like this. She felt it was best to just let Thabiti explain what he had heard, and, since it seemed he hadn't missed anything, Tswana didn't add to that. Instead, she commented on the idea of a spy, grudgingly switching to the local tongue. She had a good grasp of it, but still preferred their own language.
"Even if spy gets in, and doesn't die, it won't understand a thing the Nergui say." The Nergui language had seemed more similar to their own, than this that the firekin spoke. And it was a mess, a mixed up rather incomprehensible jumble of words.
"Ah, yes. We should just go to our neighbors and ask for water." Sarcasm was the lowest form of with, truly, but Kalama wasn't exactly the wittiest lion around. She didn't care, though. What mattered is that the point got across. She hissed irritably. The firekin were an old pride. They had taken slaves, and they had killed, and caused a lot of trouble, and didn't regret it. It was stupid to ask for help, they didn't have friends. They had enemies, and older enemies, an letting word spread that they weren't at their strongest now was hardly a good way to solve their problem! They might just get more prides on their tail!
Besides. "It is disgraceful to ask. We are firekin, what we want from others, we shall take. As for fights, we can consider it a warm-up against the Nergui if it comes to that. It shouldn't, if our neighbors are smart." She also found it unlikely there would even be too much trouble, after all, whatever pride they would be taking water from probably had better water sources futher into their own lands, and might figure it wasn't worth starting a war with the firekin over.
Though he did think it was a little childish, in the end, to refuse to consider a civil solution, Moto'spaki couldn't help but agree. The fire ran in his blood, and the idea of his pride asking another for access to their water got on his nerves. That just wasn't their way! His tail thumped irritably at his side as he listened, but he felt that what he might consider saying was probably already being said by other firekin.
Being rogue-born, Yayuka was somewhat more accepting of the idea of the firekin coming up with a civil solution to the water problem. It didn't seem that bad, really, to just come up with an agreement with whatever pride lay to the south, since it was a time of need. And the red lioness who had spoken, agreeing with Sinbad, had a point. they should save their forces for the Nergui.
At the thought of them, the gray lion couldn't help but sneer, and immediately began to groom his injured paw once again. Yes, he wanted to get to the Nergui, and tear off all their ears. They deserved hell for what they had done, they had killed a firekin. Yayuka hadn't been born here, but he was already quite protective of his new home, and simply couldn't stand the idea of the Motoujami being messed with in this manner.
He raised his head, glancing briefly at a red lioness who spoke, recognizing her as the one who had led him to the medical wards. She didn't agree with the idea of a civil solution, though. In fact, many firekin who had spoken about it didn't seem to like this idea.

The petite red-coated water seeker listened to the comments and mutterings for a while, curling her tail about herself where she sat. She knew she did not wish to become one of these 'sentinals', but she did want to volunteer to go with the group that was sent out for water and help them as she was supposed to, given her rank. She had been out there not so long ago as a rogue herself and she suspected her knowledge would be more up to date than most of the firekin themselves.
Flicking an ear at the mumbling tones from the hongshan she looked over curiously, ears flicking forwards. She hadn't gotten a chance speak to any of them yet... maybe she would be able to do so after the meeting was over. They certainly had piequed her curiosity and if they knew about this outside enemy, then anything she could learn was good.

No kept silent as Azar and her father discussed vengeance. Although there was sorrow in her heart, she was not the one to redirect her path.
As for Kekek, on the other hand. "Now is not the time to make decisions rashly," she started, her voice low. "Do not bicker here over who should stay and whose right it is to go. The decision for the troops we will lay in the capable paws of Moto'Seide. Anyone of adult age may apply for the position. And if I can speak a word of my niece, she does not appreciate drama. So you might be best to keep your arguments private."
But it wasn't just Kakek who was eager to be moving on. Teketeza seemed eager and promising. She suspected he might do well in such a campaign... with some experience. "Nothing is as simple as laying waste. I do not doubt our forces are stronger, but I also know nothing about the Nergui. I will not put dates, or timeframes into my mouth. The Northlands is a large region. To launch a forward assault, it would take time simply to travel there. We would be in unknown terrain, with a pride that I hear is largely mobile. That doesn't mean we won't be attacking them. But when we do, we will do it with thought. As it stands, I do not think the Nergui would send a force through the north desert. The southlands will be important holdings, as they are our nearest vulnerability."
"As for other prides," she said, looking towards the oddly sympathetic Sinbad. "I have no wish to start other wars. But we are firekin, and I expect that we will be given a wide berth. If compromise can be made, it will be determined by the diplomats we send. I will not, however, tolerate resistance. We take what is needed for us, and our securing of these locations will only serve to make them safer."
Was that true? No wasn't sure. Time would tell. To be honest, she didn't put much thought into the other lands around the borders of the Motoujamii. She was honest in her desire not to cause another conflict- but she was also concerned that the rest of the savannah had forgotten their power. It was as much a political ploy as it was a strategic one. No was, after all, one of the southlands.
"I can assure you, if we cannot hold a simple water supply we will not be able to beat a force of Nergui," her voice said. "You may think of other options, and I welcome you to do so. But remember this: our water supplies shrink. This attack happened because our guards were not at full patrol levels. Our patrols shrink as we rely more and more on our remaining surplus. What game we have will soon become direct competition to us. When this involved just us, we voted on our path. We troubled no one for water. But now this involves the outside world. If we are attacked, we will stagger. I do not wish to gamble my pride on 'playing nice.' We need that water. If we can work with other groups to do so, we will. If not, then we will remind them of who they are dealing with."
As the others spoke amongst themselves, there was yet one other matter to address. No turned towards where the Hongshan sat, mostly together, observing the proceedings of their allies. "As to our Hongshan. There is one other matter of discussion that directly impacts you. This is your war we prepare to fight, and I am aware that not all of you believe we have your best interests at mind."

Ari fluffed up defensively when she noticed a few curious looks flickering in her direction but she quickly relaxed when none of the lions seemed to care about her presence. In a way, she found it somewhat silly, really. All this talk about spying on that other pride and none of them seemed to have considered the possibility that they could already have a winged spy amongst them. The corners of her beak were pulled up in small smile that held little warmth. They were talking about sending lions out on some kind of mission and the large eagle could not agree more with that decision. She immediately began searching for a weak link among the volunteers, trying to determine who would be the first to fall in the imminent battle. According to her observations, black lionesses seemed to be particularly fierce so Ari decided to stay as far away from them as possible and look for a suitable target somewhere else. Maybe one of the younger males, hum….

Souzan turned from watching the Legate back to the Regent when No started to speak again, listening closely and hoping to catch any more information on what the advance patrol would be doing. And indeed it seemed there was more than just going out for eater involved... meeting with outside prides? Possible alliances? But at the core of it, the need to make the firekin pride to be feared once again.
But then something in her words caught his attention and he frowned. Only adults would be allowed to go? Disappointment filled his gut like cold lead, making his ears flicker back in dismay. Surely kin close to adulthood would be considered at least? Regardless, he would go tot he Legate as soon as he could manage and plead his case. For some reason even he wasn't entirely sure about, his heart had already settled on going out with the patrol past the boarders. Maybe he could act older than his age.. for he was a stocky youth and could possibly pass for a young adult?

They had all come in a group, really, even though they knew not a lot about one another. It had been the same at the last gathering, when he water had all but disappeared.
Fen'wei walked close to his mother, but ahead of her, not making eye contant. The canteen he had traded for was slung around his shoulder, but, had long been dry as of late. He had grown strong, shoulder broad while being able to carry water, but now he grew tired of waiting to help.
Rellik followed and sat near her son, but looked onward to those who wished to go into battle, a thirst for victory and blood, but it was strange and complicated, and she knew not if she could grant any advice that would help.
Badieh came alone and watched her brother, she licked her lips and stretched her arms. Some feared a spy going into the midst of another dwelling, but she would jump at the chance to defend her rightful home and grant those here water. She'd do all this is it meant her father would be proud.
He could easily venture out and try to find his sister, the pride she was now with, see if they were near and could grant water and aid, but, war seemed eminent and he wished not to get her involved. He wondered how she had grown. Mwako'Damu came close to the group, to hear the words spoken, but kept his stern gaze, thoughts reeling in his head.
The three siblings walked together, it was strange their sister was part of this Hongshan, part of this trouble, but this was now dealing with their home, and they would not back down. They listened carefully, and both Ka and Kai looked to one another, then Ryujin. "You could do it," Kai said to him, in the midst of others, "if a chance came to pass, and it needed to be done." Ryujin looked to Kai, then his brother, and to Kidondo and No. Like No, Ryujin appeared as a blank slate, no immediate relation could be gathered from his exterior, but his heart was that of the firekin. His siblings had said Kidondo knew of their lineage, their past, and wondered if it came to be, what he once was a curse could become a gift in these times. "It would be up to them," Ryujin said with a nod, "I would do anything needed for our home."
At Ryujin's words, Kai looked to Kidondo, then No. Did Kidondo ever tell No of their discussion such a long time ago? She gulped, knowing that it could be an impossible suggestion, and with so many around, it was risky. Some wished to use bords to scout water, but, what if...
Only if she could discuss is without so many eyes. But she had an idea.

Ute and Zii sat in silence as so much talking and arguing was going on between everyone. Ute looked up with courage and interest and Zii looked uncomfortable. In fact she was. It was against her nature to feel things that the other firekin felt. Vengeance. She hadn't ever felt vengeful, not even towards the male that broke her heart and tried to destroy her parents. Yet, if she thought about losing her daughter Ute, she got anxious and looked a bit ill....
Ute looked up at her grandmother and just was speechless at how strong her family was. She was proud to be apart of such a family. She glanced towards everyone else, not rally feeling like putting any input in

Thanda-Lau had yet to speak a word, and it was unlikely that he would for the foreseeable future, though he had glanced across at the red lioness who had dueled him at the pride boarder not long ago. Her apparent friendship with a falcon was odd, but the dark male had seen stranger things during his wanderings, done stranger things. So instead he ignored the pair just as he ignored the caracal on the rock beside him.
Sensing motion he flicked a glance to the side and spotted yet more late comers. Though again they seemed to be an internal group, so maybe something else was happening in the pride lands that was detaining these bands of lions. Either way he had not heard about it, only this gathering held by the regents, so he would not worry about missing anything. He could only be in so many places at once, and even though it was unlikely he would be an active participant in this water-hunt, he wanted to listen to all the details.

Teketeza could barely believe what was being said by Sinbad and Hratchouhi, although others were quicker to speak up about it. Since when did the Firekin ever ask for anything? Since when did the Firekin ever share with those that weren't Firekin? If they were going to do that, they may as well surrender to the Nergui right now, as a reputation like that would make them nothing more than a laughing stock.
He snarled as he considered this, but it soon faded as Regentess No addressed what he had said. Everything that she said made sense, although that didn't really appease Teketeza's urge to go to war as soon as possible. "Well, I'm happy to do whatever is asked of me." He said, once Regentess No had finished talking. "As long as I get to fight the Nergui at some point, I'm happy to do whatever tasks are needed in order to get us to that point sooner rather than later."
Hratchouhi frowned deeply as a few Firekin seemed to take offence at what she had said. "I know what I am." She replied cooly, not wishing to make things worse. "It is as the Regents said though; we don't need to be feared, as long as we are respected. Is it really so bad to consider ALL options?"
Regentess No, surprisingly, seemed to show a lot more understanding of what she was trying to say more than anyone else. Well, maybe that wasn't so surprising, as she was one of the Pride's leaders after all. Also, the way she worded what she had to say in regards to acquiring water, it did sound a lot more diplomatic and civil than a lot of the others had implied it to be.
Ukuba nodded thoughtfully as he considered what Tswana said. A spy was a foolish idea, but at the same time, he understood the need to find out more information about the Nergui. "I wish we knew more about them. I really do." He said with a heavy sigh, although his tone of voice and the expression on his face was more frustrated than sad, as he continued to listen to what was being said.
When he and the other Hongshan were addressed directly, he raised a brow. Who exactly did she mean when she said that not all of them believed that the Firekin had their best interests in mind? He chose to disregard that comment, as addressing it would most likely only lead to more crossed words.
Frowning slightly, he thought carefully before he spoke. "We will always be grateful for what you did in allying yourselves with us. As you say though, this is our war. Although I cannot speak for all Hongshan, I for one am more than willing to aid you in any way possible." His tone of voice remained neutral. "We were unable to provide you with as many answers as I think you would have hoped for, so hopefully this will prove to you that we believe very much in this alliance with the Firekin." Although Ukuba was someone who valued brains over brawn, that didn't mean he lacked the latter. He was quite the capable fighter, if that was what ended up being asked of him.
He glanced to where Thabiti and Tswana were stood, to see their reactions. He still saw the alliance with Firekin as being very fragile, and if the newest group didn't start pulling their weight, he was somewhat concerned that the alliance would begin to crumble. Which wouldn't only be bad for this group of Hongshan, but also the previous group.
