Otto gave Ami a quick glance before returning to pretending he could pick a lock. "Iiiiiii'm tryin' to escape." He explained, nodding to the open front gate leading out of the dungeon.

He cleared his throat, looking a bit awkward when she asked about Wash. s**t. "He uh.. well they took him away." Otto muttered softly. "If I can get outta this cell, I'm gunna try and find'em. I ain't runnin' till I know ya'll are safe."

The bone crumpled to the touch, absolutely useless against the lock. Searching the body however, proved to be useful for Rin, revealing a small pen light, similar to a flashlight, only pocket-sized. There was also, hidden in one boot, a very tiny switch knife.

Stupid useless finger bone. Otto huffed and let himself fall flat on his back, making a grouchy pouting face at the ceiling.
PostPosted: Sun Aug 05, 2012 12:05 pm
Ami looked down and nodded. Otto was right. They needed to attempt to break out, especially since that door was open. Ami hadn't missed the small change in scenery- things like that didn't go unnoticed.

Ah, so Wash had been taken. Honestly, it was better than seeing his corpse rotting in the cell. She was optimistic about that much. Still, it was unfortunate. He couldn't be counted out yet, though Ami didn't have any dramatic plans for rescue.

"I ... can't promise I'll do the same," she said in a low whisper, one that even Otto might have missed. She certainly respected the boy for his bravery, but she simply didn't have the bravado in her to save everyone. If she managed to escape, she was high-tailing it. She couldn't risk taking the time to save others.

She watched Otto flop on the ground and said, "No good?" With a great gasp of pain, Ami stood up and wobbled, leaning heavily against the bars. It was then that she noticed just how rusted they were. Wasn't rust weak? Or was it not? Her mind was too frazzled to put the pieces together. She attempted to summon Junpei only to find he wouldn't reach her hand. Well so much for that plan.

"D'you think we could break the bars? Maybe ... the skeleton might have pieces we can use. We could use the chains to pry them open?" she said quietly as she examined the remains of her skeleton man.

A dark part of her mind was wondering why she should even bother. The second they broke out they would have every horsemen upon them. Would this entire thing be futile?

Otto missed her whisper entirely. He huffed again, rolling onto his side. Amis seemed to be snooping through a dead man's corpse for something, just like Rin had done. "Maaaaybe." He replied, rolling onto his other side. Escaping wouldn't be easy. Getting out of the cell would be the easiest part about it. They had no ide where they were, no clue how to contact Deus, and no guarantee that the Horsemen would just let them moonwalk out of there.

Otto groaned and sat up again. Sitting around would only ensure he stayed captured forever. "Well.. I sure don't wanna have none of the dreams agains so..." They weren't terrible but.. still. They could always be worse.

Otto stood up, albeit shakily, and tested the stability of the door to his cage with one swift roundhouse kick.
PostPosted: Sun Aug 05, 2012 7:44 pm
The entire cage clanged at Otto's kick, and other than the trainee having one very sore leg, nothing else budged.

Silence.

And then, with another resounding whump, his entire cage wall fell. Sometimes perhaps, the solution was found in simple aggression: hopefully it was worth his leg.

Otto hissed and hopped on one leg a moment before falling back down. His leg hurt like Hell. His ankle stung. Maybe that had been a bad id---

. . .

He was free. He managed to sacrifice his leg for freedom. Otto felt empowered. He felt good for the first time in a long while. Otto got up, walking out of his cell with an obvious limp. "I don't think I can do that again though.." He would not be able to run either, should he need to.

Crap, now what? He couldn't leave Rin and Ami here. No way. "Uh..."

Otto looked around the area for something to help them.

Rin deftly pocketed both the pen light and the small pocket knife; hopefully these will be useful later. She frowned listening to Ami, "No good, the chain is stuck to the wall. If We could pry it off the wall with something then the prier could possibly break the bars in the first place," she sighed, "need to skip the middle man somehow."

It was then Otto got her attention as he not only hurt himself... but was now walking a free man. Son of a b***h. Brute force? Was that all? It was then she cast a wary look on the toilet. Perhaps it was light... perhaps it was loose?... Ugh, she almost hoped it wouldn't come to this, still -
Rin investigated the toilet.

Ami's eyes went wide as Otto managed to kick the entire thing down. Well how about that. The skinny boy was stronger than he looked! She couldn't say she wasn't a little jealous. She definitely didn't have it in her to kick down the bars.

He seemed to hesitate, looking at both of them for assistance. "Otto the ******** are you doing?" she chided, gesturing lethargically towards the door. "Get out of here and get help!"

She gave him a grumpy sneer and then went back to examining the skeleton.

Otto hesitated again. They still seemed set on finding their own way to escape, which was good but... Otto attempted to summon Tenya, but to no avail. She apologized to him with a nervous laugh, unsure what the hold up was.
He had no means of defending himself, no way to contact anyone, and he couldn't run faster than maybe a hobbled jog. He didn't like the idea of forging ahead all alone into the bee hive of Horsemen.

His head turned to the open door again.

More hesitation.

"Dammit.. just.. ugh." Otto frowned deeply. After one quick sweep of his eyes around the room again, he snuck past the open door, peeking around the corner to see what was out there first.

There was absolutely noone outside on either side of the hallway. It was entirely abandoned, or perhaps the horsemen were just that confident. Examining the hallway further revealed that the entire walk down was accompanied by closed doors. The room next to theirs, locked, marked in engraving "XXXV" and the one after that "XXXVI", "XXXVII", so on so forth.

Rin however, would find an interesting extremely soggy boot. There was some writing however, on the inside of the boot. 'Room thirty-six and a quarter. DeM.'

Ami would find nothing else but skeletal remains, and also what seemed like a very nice gold locket. Opening it revealed a picture of a relatively clean Hunter next to someone who was most likely his girlfriend. Engraved on the other side were two names and a phrase. "James and Ashley. Together always."

Empty. How fortunate. Things were looking good so far. Otto took one last look inside the dungeon before hobbling down the hallway.

Doors seemed to line the walls, with weird signs on them. Otto's only experience with Roman Numerals were entirely football related, so it took him a moment to figure out what every number was. "35.... 36..." Just how many doors were there? Were they all cells with cages? It was risky, but what if other hunters were in there? He couldn't in good conscience just walk away. Then again, what if there were horsemen in them?

Otto rubbed his face and groaned. Why did he have to have a conscience in times like these? Why couldn't he just flip the bird and find his freedom?

Chances were freedom was not happening anyway. Still, there were so many doors. It would be a waste of time to open every single one of them.

Otto hobbled further down the hall.

Ami nodded as Otto headed out the door. Good. That was one of them out of this god forsaken place, anyways. Ami looked down at the locket, fiddling with it until it opened. Something about the picture and writing really hit home. How horribly sad. Poor James ... or Ashley. Quite frankly with the state of the remains, Ami wasn't sure which person this was.

She quietly snapped the locket shut and put it in her pocket. Was it wrong to take something from a man/woman that was already dead and gone? The least she could do was possibly find James or Ashley and return it to them.

"Find anything?" she said to Rin. "I haven't seen much yet." She didn't want to reveal the locket just yet. Not until she'd confirmed its owner.

She shrugged herself up off the ground and looked at the chains. Her gaze shifted to the toilet ... but there was no way you could make her do that. She just couldn't. Instead she turn to the chains. "I'm going to try to pry them off..."

Moving towards the skeleton, she grimaced and plied the humerus off the skeleton. Once accomplished, she attempted to pry the chains off the wall, using the bone like a crowbar.

There was a loud clang as the chains fell off. At least Ami had a nice accessory now-

Just in time to hear shouts from outside. It looks like Otto had finally found backup, or rather, the two Famine sentries on their patrol down the hallway, had also found the Hunter. There was a blank two seconds where all three just simply stared at each other, and then the shouting began as they ran after the Death trainee, all forms of weapons raised.

RUNNING.

- Otto must OUTRUN the guards!
- He is 20 steps ahead of them. In order to escape, he must gain 30 steps ahead, out of sight. HOWEVER, if the guards come within 10 steps of him, he is CAUGHT.
- Roll 2 - 8-sided dice - 8 modifier. If you MISS, subtract 2 from your steps. If you do not miss, gain the amount you rolled onto your current step amount. Keep on rolling until he either escapes or is caught!
- If Otto hits 10 steps, its GAME OVER, he is caught, however if he hits 30, then HE ESCAPES their line of sight!
- Keep on rolling, and add/ subtract steps as you needed as his pursuers chase after him!

Otto was suddenly in deep trouble. The silence as they all stared at each other was long and agonizing.

He muttered to himself before bolting it down the hall.

Ow ow ow ow ow this hurts like hell!
