Everyone nodded. You and Reggie took up position along the dried out lake. The slope was deep enough that hopefully the trucks wouldn't notice you from the road. Zaire and his two soldier sat behind a giant boulder off the road just before Suzuki's and Zaire's soldiers rock at head of the road. The last man was further down on the dreid out lake past everyone else. From this position he would be able to jump out and move behind the convoy after they stopped during the attack. If the group hit hard and fast the convoy would be taken unaware and without struggle.

At midday they could all see the trucks in the distance. The technical road up front in front of the truck full of supplies. The gunner leaned lazily against his gun barely paying attention to the wasteland around him. The savannah was vast, and it was miles between the las the encampment and the town so they were bored of already. A second gunner sat in the passenger seat fiddling with a sub machine gun. The truck behind it had a cannopy on its back. The bed was long, that either meant they were carrying a lot of supplies, or there could be guards in the back with them.

The jeep was just outside of Suzuki and her partner. The man seemed to be fidgeting with his aim. Not a trained sniper like Suzuki. Sweat rolled down his face as the convoy appoarch, "Take the shot Ma'am. I don't want to shot first and alert them before you can take out the gunner." The nervousness in his voice apperent.

Suzuki lined up the shot as they got just past the rear man. Suzuki fired off a round that hit the gunner square in the chest. Falling from the back of the technicle they could hear the men shouting as the technical and truck screetch on their breaks. The passenger quickly brouth up his sub and started to fire pot shots at the rock crop that Suzuki and the man were on. At that distance and without really aiming Suzuki and the man were safe. Her partner took a shot at the submachine gunner, but his shot missed its mark.

As this happened Ziaire let out a whelloping yell and him and his man jumped from behind the rocks. Ziaire unloaded some rounds into the side of the truck's driver door. The truck's passenger dived out from the other side of the truck as the driver crawled across the seats to join him. The technical driver rolled out of the jeep and fired his pistol off at Zaire and his man. A round took Zaire's man in the leg and he fell to the ground screaming.

The rear man jumped up from down the lake and laid on the ground trying to see what was in the rear of the jeep. Two shots rang out from the back of the jeep at the rear man. Fortunately they missed the rear man and he managed to roll himself back down the slope of the lake.

“Get some mother ********!” Reggie screamed as he leaped from his hiding place next to Desmond. They moved almost in perfect unison with Zaire and had the jeep surrounded. The two, Reggie and Desmond, were quick to find their targets. They used their well trained eye to fire them down. Desmond spotted the sub machine gun passenger and lit him up with his own gun. Reggie pushed for the truck.

“Desmond, we have more bogies in the back of the caravan. Two shots fired. Our flank has moved back to cover.” Reggie yelled over to his friend as the two commandeered the technical jeep.

“Suzuki and her escort are on their way to hold the flank. You push for the front of that vehicle. Watch for cross fire.” Desmond was loud.

Desmond hit the sub machine gunner and the man fell to the ground spitting up blood. The driver who was still laying across the seats put out his pistol and started firing at Desmond and Reggia as they popped out from behind the the lake edge. In such an awkward position and still suprised the driver missed his shots.

Zaire had his second man (you forgot one of the 5 in your plan so i added him in with Zaire) grab his wounded soldier and pull him back behind the rocks. They still outnumbered the Empire Soldiers without them, and he didn't want to see a friend die when he didn't have to. Zaire ran up to the technical as the driver fired at Desmond. When he got right up on top of the man he dropped his sub machine gun and drew a long thick hunting blade from his side and tackle the man bearing the blade down on the drivers neck. He ravaged the driver's neck with the blade.

Suzuki and her man seeing that the technical was occupied sprinted from their rock in front of the jeep towards the back of the truck. It was a long spritn for them as they had such a forward position to start with. As they moved the two soldiers in the back of the truck jumped out the back with sub machine guns fresh from the stock. They ran forward and fired down the the side of the lake spraying the rear man with bullets. As they did they dropped down into the lake bed to get a better position to fire on the rest of the ambushers.

(Deleted some of your post cause it didn't make sense as you forgot about the driver. In such a small fight you really only get a small sentence or two about what your character is doing! This is ain't a large scale battle where the enemies are indiviually irrelevant.)

“s**t there goes the flank. Damn, we did not expect extra men in the convoy.” Suzuki new it was bad news for their team if they had any casualties. Zaire already had so few people. One less strong almost made this trade note worth it. “Take cover at these rocks here. Keep firing at the two in the lake. I need you to keep them occupied so I can flank them!” Suzuki was fierce with her words. She did not have much trust in the man’s shots. However, as long as his gun went off and the bullet showed visible carnage in the empire soldier’s general direction, it would aid her enough. Suzuki allowed him to take a shot and watched to see if they took cover. Her fingers were crossed.

Desmond and Reggie both filled the air with profanities. So many bullets went flying from all over. From their angle they could see the two gunners come out of the truck and fire down at their flank. Zaire and his two would be next if they did not take cover.

“Zaire, get behind the car. We have two more boggies and they are heavily armed!” Desmond strained his voice to be heard over the gun fire. Desmond and Reggie looked towards each other and nodded. Desmond knew that meant Reggie was moving in on them. Reggie re-positioned back into the dried up lake on the opposite side of the road from the two gunners. He was going to run along the road while under cover until he was close enough to surprise them. Desmond turned back to the jeep to finish off the driver. They were lucky to be missed by his shots. It was a mistake they could not afford to make again. Desmond laid into the jeep with his rifle. His shots were slow but each one very deadly. The driver showed even the smallest bit of skin Desmond would have it. Desmond would fire and then move. He had to keep the driver occupied so he couldn’t shoot at Zaire.

((Hope this is better. If not, I may just have a completely different image of the battle seen.))

Desmonds shots hit home and took the jeep's driver in the head. Blodo dripped over the seat. That left only the two in the river bend. Suzuki and her man fired at them to keep them from unloading on the others. Zaire crawled over the seats of the truck and started to add his supressing fire to hers. The two men were effectively pinned down. While they did that Reggie ran down the side of the dried lake unnoticed by the two men. When he got close enough he opened fire on them and finished the two men off (They were in the dried lake as well but still works out what you were planning).

After the dust settle the group all converged on the truck. Zaire walked over to the edge of the lake where his dead man laid, he muttered something in a tongue Desmond didn't know and turned back. "One man down, another with a minor wound. A shame, but that is the way of war." He walked up to the truck and looked in at the loot and smiled. "This good, real good. Enough gun and ammo here for both Blood Lions, and us. What to give to Blood Lions though? If Nuri is not happy with offering might not return my son."

The truck had two dozen sub machine guns.
Three dozen bolt action rifles.
A crate of ammo for each box of guns (aka every dozen guns)
A crate of grenades
A crate of field medical supplies.

“Zaire I am sorry about your man.” Desmond begins while working at grounding himself and getting out of combat mode. Reggie once again had the hardest time with this. His eyes continued to twitch and search as if there was another enemy somewhere nearby. It would take him the rest of the day to calm down. Desmond stepped into the truck and opened up some of the medical supplies. He brought it over to Suzuki who got to work on their injured.

“I guess you can call that a win. They are all dead but with the cost of one man did we really gain any?” Reggie was shaking. He was so angry that their rear was chased down like that.

“Zaire you’re the one who made a sacrifice today. The choice is yours what we give back to the Blood Lions. No matter the cost we will get your son back. I recommend you pass along a crate (a crate being one dozen) of submachine guns, a 2 crates of rifles, and the relative ammo to go along. We can use the rest to stock up what we have. The grenades are a must keep. I already know they will come in handy down the road.” Desmond watched Zaire come to the decision. Desmond was willing to hand it all over if it meant solidifying his new ally. However, this new ally was not a powerful one at this time. He wondered what he could do to change that.

Zaire looked at the guns in the back of the truck. "Yes I think that the Blood Lions would find that acceptable. We should not mention the medical supplies or the grenades once we return though. They might get greedy and demand them as well. This truck looks like it is in good use. We should take it back to camp as well. Zaire drove the team back to the compound where the let out the supplies and everyone but Zaire, Desmond and Masamba. The three drove back to the Blood Lions compound where they were greeted by Nuri at the gates.

"Welcome back my friend. I see you bringing me a new truck as well, is this also part of your gift?" Nuri asked smiling.

Zaire parked in front of Nuri and climbed out , "Maybe I would like to hold onto the truck, but if you really want it we could probably part with it."

Nuri laughed as he walked towards the truck, "So what gifts do you bring me my friend." Zaire and Nuri walked to the back of the trucks where the crates were sitting. "Ah submachine gunes, military rifles. Lots and lots of ammo. This is very good. A little light for a military transport, but I must guess you kept some of the goodies for yourself."

Nuri turned back towards the gates and yelled in African. Two men rushed forward to start unloading crates while another went back inside, hopefully ot get Zaire's son and his friend.

Nuri turned towards Desmond, "I like you Mr. Khan. We do much business together. Blood Lions friends." He said extending a hand to shake.

“Friends you say. I would like for that. You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours. Just no more kidnapping our people and we can promise the same for you.” Desmond held himself firmly but welcomingly. He wanted to show his own strength to Nuri. “I can imagine trust is hard to come by in these days of war. I hope we can maintain each other’s trust.” Desmond looked to Zaire. They all hoped together that at any moment Zaire’s son and friend would exit.

Nuri laughed as Desmond spoke of kidnapping, "Kidnapping you say? HAHAHAHA" Nuri let out a loud bellow, "The boys tried cheating me and my men, it was no kidnapping Mr. Khan. This is Africa where law of jungle rules. You cheat me, I cheat you of life. This good lesson for your boy Zaire old friend, they learn not to do again if they can't kill the ones they cheat"

As they talked men from inside the encampment came out and unloaded the truck. Desmond and his group stood around bullshitting with Nuri while another three men dragged two young boys around the age of 17 forward. When Zaire saw them he started cursing at them in his native tongue. Desmond couldn't tell exactly what Zaire was saying but it sounded angry and Nuri started laughing again when he did.

As the boys were brought to the group Zaire turned to Desmond and the rest, "This is my idoit son Sefu and his friend Tafari. I apologize again for putting you threw the trouble of having to help me rescue them. I will make sure they are punished accordingly when we get back to the camp."

“They sure don’t teach those kinds of lessons in the schools where I come from. I’m sure your guy’s way of life has ensured only the strongest and smartest have survive.” Desmond laughed along with him. It was a forced laugh but he hoped to be convincing. This truly was a brutal society. The Khan or Empire morals could do them a lot of good. Desmond still could not get over Nuri’s jungle rules. Wouldn’t it be easier if the boys were just taught to never cheat because you will never win out that way? When Desmond met the two boys for the first time that is all he could think about.

“My name is Desmond. You boys better be grateful you have a father that would stick his neck out for you two like that. We had to go through a lot of trouble to get you back.” Desmond nodded to Ziare to show he was ready to depart. “Whatever Zaire has planned for your punishment is mercy compared to what you deserved. Nuri I do hope we do business again. I just hope next time is under better circumstances.”

Nuri smiled and clasped Desmond on the shoulder, "Yes I hope so, tell you what, you guys can take the truck back so you don't have to walk back to the bug infested swamp you call a base hahaha" Nuri turned and walked back into the camp as the men unloaded the truck. Once they were done the group climbed into the truck. Ziaire and Desmond sat in the front seat while the other sat in the back. The whole way that they were driving back to the campe Ziaire looked mad. "That damned boy." A tear welled in his eye as he drove. Desmond didn't know if he was talking to him or just in general, "His name was Takama." The name didn't ring a bell to Desmond, he didn't know who he was talking about. After a second of silence Ziaire continued, "He was a good man, he shouldn't have had to die for my son's mistake. A foolish ignorant mistake. Sefu and Tafari wanted to make a couple bucks and it cost me a friend. Life is too precious to waste on a couple of bucks." A tear rolled down his face as he drove. That was all that he said

Desmond hurt for Zaire. He knew all too well what losing a friend felt like. This must have been even harder because it was his sons fault. Desmond wanted nothing but to comfort his new alliance but he lacked the words. He sat in silence the rest of the way back to base.

When they arrived Desmond and his crew made sure to jump right back to topic. So much time had been wasted on that little aside. It was necessary for them to build trusts with one another but now was the time to get work done.

Ziare looked at Hudson and laughed, "No my friend, nothing is on the agenda as of now. We might want to keep our heads low for a couple of days. We just took out a transport. That will not go unnoticed. They will be looking for us right now. Not for long before they grow bored and give up, but for the next couple of days we should hold out and wait. Perhaps you can stay here and get to know the people, or you could go back into town and see what the news is there. We do not get news here very fast. You might find useful information to use. Being white you can get much more valueable information then I could" Ziare laughed. "Another option would be to go scout out some of the military instalations in the area. Aside from the town this part of the land is guard by the Arabs. They have military encampments though out the area. It serves as a staging area for the front line further south."

“Anything beats sitting on my butt. I never have been very good at hiding out.” Desmond chuckled as he thought back to the team’s last assignment many years ago. It got them into a lot of trouble but he as always able to work with whatever challenge they faced. “Reggie and Suzuki, you two hang low at the base and get to know our team. I want a better assessment of their skills, the area, and possible actions. I’m going to keep this team up to date by heading back into town with Sarah.”

“Listen Desmond, I really think I should go into town with you. I am not feeling very well.” Reggie complained. He was a bit shaking but looking nauseous and sweaty. Suzuki placed a hand over his forehead. She pulled it back almost instantly.

“He definitely has a fever.” Her face cringed as soon as she felt the temperature of his forehead.

“I’m really sorry Desmond, I am just going through some stuff.”

“Zaire you have anyone with medical experience. We have all that medical equipment. That might be enough to help reduce his fever.” Desmond rushed to his friend to help him to a room and a bed. “I can’t let you go into town Reggie. We will take care of you here. If they need anything extra I’ll pick it up in town.”

“Desmond I…I uhh.” Reggie whispered while Desmond had ahold of him.

“What is it?” Reggie’s eyes fell to the side, probably from the truth.

“Thanks.”

“Zaire keep someone on him. Don’t let Reggie do anything stupid. He just needs some rest and some attention.” Desmond made up his mind. After putting everything that he could into motion he set back to town on a jeep.
