Mat flinched in surprise as Fia suddenly swung herself to stand over her. The rains stopped for a moment as she huddled under the temporary shelter, but her ears picked up the reason for the sudden movement and she got excited. Intruders! She knew those were bad, but boy was she curious... She looked up excitedly at her aunt, but when the nudge came and the suggestion to dig was brought up, her ears fell. "Aw...but I wanna go see who it is!" she said with a little pout, starting to walk. She spotted her mother and dashed towards her, bouncing around at her feet. "Mom! Mom can we go see who it is? I wanna see, Mom!" She bet she could scare them off. She had been practicing her ferocious roar lately and wanted to have some hapless creatures to test it out on.

Military orders.
Agni switched fully into dity, the male rising and trotting to move out as he did. The young soldier maintained a brisk, rapid pace as he moved, his training in marching kicking in. He didn't worry terribly about protcting anyone but cubs, but he was awaiting orders, eyes flashing.
"Damnit damnit damnit...."
Huo moved himself, the guard picking up pace to stay near others, the male glancing for his captain breifly. No sign of Iirte-- this bothered him slightly -- however nut much, and despite the rain being the most vile thing he ever encountered, he ruffled up a bit, straightening as he trot to move out.
Mpeko just.. Panicked.
The female pulled herself close to the nearest fellow, the normally happy, lovey Firekin now a bundle of fear and nerves. She didn't like fighting, even if she could, and now she might have to-- and the idea terrified her. She tried to hide it, moving with as much confidence as she could muster, and she shivered, hoping nobody saw.
Oh, she did NOT want to die.

Azar hadn't felt this conflicted in a long time. Her ear's perked up as the group started to wander toward the intruders and fo course part of her just wanted to start walking with them to find out what was going on. Yet at the same time she wasn't sure if she could or even if she should for that matter. But the thing that was pulling her back was currently the cub that was begging to join. She ahd no idea what to do about the small creature asking to come with. She knew the answer would be no she didn't want the young child out there but at the same time she didn't just want to leave. "No." She said quickly before tossing a glance toward Fia, she wasn't that sure of what to do. She glanced back out at the lands before turning toward the cub. "Its much to dangerous right now, we don't know what is going on." She said simply with a nod before moving toward Fia.
She approached her sister and spoke as quietly as she could. "Do you think I should go too?" she asked her curiously. she knew there was a possibility she would be needed but at the same time she knew there was a chance that she wasn't. Sitting back just drove her crazy but yet the young cub made her want to stay in one place."Please tell me you did not just see that." She snapped, she was embarrassed and she wasn't sure if she was in the mood for the male to pick on her as she was drenched now to the bone. She knew that he probably did but at the same time she wash oping that he would at least pretend that he didn't. Yeah that would be cool. She went to speak to him again when the lightining cracked and suddenly everyone was in a conversation about what was just seen. Intruders?
She turned quickly toward the ridge where everyone was going before turning back to Yayuka. "Shall we go find out what is going on?"

Fia nodded. There was nothing for it. "Go with them. They might need you. I'll stay here with the cubs."
"Me too." Vesta chimed. "We shan't let any harm come to your children, Brig--uh--Azar." The little female flushed and, covered in wet sand, padded over to the group where she cast her eyes across those who were remaining. Surely not everyone was abandoning them to go and see what the intruders were doing? What about the rain? The water? By now they were all soaked through.
Fia snorted, spraying rain from her nostrils. She couldn't go. The rage was still untempered. She was better off here, away from it all. She'd made a promise to Mii'ah, one that she intended on keeping.

Veru smiled despite the rain. And despite the fact that he continued to look ridiculously disheveled from the rainstorm. "No problem, my friend. But I'm afraid I may be no better help than you! I can't say I've ever seen it this dark in the Motoujamii."
As if to emphasize, he turned and faced the stretching desert. Beyond a few flashes of light from the thunderclouds, almost no light from the stars could pierce the thick stormclouds. With the ground underneath them soggy and the air a mixture of humidity and chill, it seemed altogether...alien. Veru's only benefit to the equation was having been born elsewhere.
Leaving Hraga and the other trench diggers behind them, the group set out past the protective shadow of the tall rocks that made up the main bulk of the pride. Here the rain fell even harder- but the ground was somewhat dryer thanks to runoff. Every here and there were some trenches dug earlier in the week, dotting the ground like a minefield.
"I suggest we check the oasis first," he said. The main bulk of the pride's water came from that location, but to call it an oasis might have been something of an overstatement. Perhaps with these new rains, it could get back to being as green as it once was. "Beyond that, the wards."
Hopefully whoever these mystery creatures were, they weren't in the wards.
arrow First, we travel to the oasis! But thanks to some overzealous diggers, we have a bit of a minefield to go through.
Roll a dice 1-5.
1. You trip, and fall face first into a trench. Oh delicious water! 2. Some particularly thick mud slows you down. 3. A sudden jolt of lightning laces through the sky. For a brief moment, you see a figure at the pool. 4. The wind picks up, and you can smell something sour. 5. You reach the oasis before the others. The pool is flooding, but there are tracks all over the mud!
If you fall in a ditch, you must roll again to cross into the oasis.

Alya frowned, looking out over the dark scene before them. Something about it made her nervous. She couldn't say she was particularly skilled at crossing such terrain, let alone in the dark of the stormy night. But, regardless, she moved forward.
And on her second step, found herself with a face full of muddy water. Wonderful.
The lioness cursed under her breath as she regained her footing, hoping no one had noticed (a hope that didn't go far; there were enough in their little band to see all too well the lioness' lack of grace). She stopped for a moment, letting the rain wash the dirt from her face and to let her ego recover. This would take a bit to get used to.

With her sister's encouragement she was off. She was glad to know that some one was going to watch her cub and she was hoping that the little one wouldn't get in trouble. She knew that her sister was more than capable and she knew that everything was going to be okay. She moved quickly through the mud to catch up with the group. The rain making it not only more difficult to see but also to smell where she was going. She walked as carefully and as quickly as she could. The wet sand making it difficult but she moved.
She some how made her way through the "Landmines" and to the other side where she could clearly see the oasis. As she lifted her head to turn to call back to the others a flash of lighting hit and that is when she spotted a figure near the water. "I see some one!" she said quickly hoping that some one would hear her over the rain, and kind of hoping that whoever it was by the water couldn't hear her. Even if they could they were working on catching them. These other creatures must have known how to travel in this weather pretty well that is for sure. She paused for a moment looking for the nearest person to start walking with again. she was hoping that some one else would get across quickly or she would have ot jsut start walking herself. She didn't want to loose track of the creature.

(( oh, for the love of... ))
As the group set out, Morag was right beside Veru, her red eyes trained ahead to catch whatever glimpse she could of the intruders.
What she wasn't prepared for, however, was the sudden disappearance of the ground beneath her paws. She had enough time for a muffled sound before she was face first into the water, spluttering as she popped up above the surface again.
For a lioness who had never been in water deeper than her stomach, it was almost terrifying to suddenly feel it closing over her head. Clinging to the side of the trench, Morag surged upwards, scrambling back onto (comparatively) dry land.
"Fecking hell!" She hissed as she shook herself all over, spraying water. Not that it did much good, in this rain... "Everyone watch where you're walking! We don't need anyone drowning in the desert."
Thank god a certain male wasn't around... she'd never be able to look him in the eye again.

Agni walked, watching the others as he dide in silence, nose twitching. The air was beginning to smell foul, and he tensed, fangs baring slowly.
Huo followed himself, fur raising on his back, eyes narrowing.
Mpeko whimpered as she trailed after the group, looking more and more worried as they went, and huddled into herself some, looking about.
"Do you think they'll eat us?"

Admittedly, seeing the Spymaster also take a tumble made her feel better about her own failure. Determined, now, Alya pressed forward once more. Doing much better this second time, the lioness found herself on the opposite side. She glanced down and saw... tracks? Her brow furrowed. They were to worn by water and it was too dark (and she too inexperienced in tracking) for her to identify them.
"Tracks," she called back, trying to catch their tracker's eye to bring them to his attention. He could get more use from them than she.

((Excuse me as I lawl at how many GREAT AND MIGHTY FIREKIN fell in holes in the rain... xd ; ))
Like father like daughter... Kosuke's eyes had been elsewhere as they started off, so he managed to miss the hole until the ground wasn't there to meet his paw. An alarmed yowl escaped the lion before he sank into the hole and water, before surfacing and flailing a moment. Water... Water everywhere! He shook his head, before turning and crawling back out of the water. Finar-si damn the rain! Needed, yes, but a pain in the buns! He shook off, mainly to get it out of his mane, then noticed... Morag had done much the same. He snorted, going up to her. "I propose we have someone lead us so we avoid the holes!" Wet manes, as it turned out, were HEAVY manes.

"Oh, most definitely," Elcca oozed as she fell alongside Mpeko. Sometimes she couldn't help herself. "Why do you think we've gathered such a large group? Because when the time comes, it'll be all too easy to know whom to sacrifice!"
Letting her mull that over, Elcca laughed and stepped through the puddles and mud clumps. It would be unfair to say she took delight in the sounds of others falling in the mud behind her. She did however find it hilarious, no doubt adding to her rather large karma bank that was always in the red.
Elcca arrived at the oasis shortly behind Alya. The waters had risen here, covering up anything that had once been barren. A few of the sad looking shrubs that lined the edges of the parched pool had been uprooted by all the water. She watched them swirl by. "It seems we just missed whomever was here."
There were tracks, that much she could be certain. She leaned her head close, trying to get a better look at what it was. But with the water rising, it seemed like the footprints were filling with water as quickly as she could find them.

((Apparently he can't, AND HIS DAUGHTER IS SO LIKE HIM AGAIN xd ))
Clear of the water, Kosuke looked up at calls of tracks. He started to hurry, only to feel a sickening squish between his toes. He pulled a paw out, hearing through the rain a sucking sound. Oh that sounded just NASTY... He scowled, doing a comical walk as he tried to get clear of the mud and muck. The SQUILCHING... Oh, Finar-si, he'd never forget the SQUILCHING of the mud!

OF COURSE it would be mud that would trip the spymaster up next, making her bare her fangs at the world as she slogged through it. By the time she finally arrived at the oasis, most of the others were already there and she was breathing hard.
Covered in mud clear to her belly, she stomped up to the group and shook herself off again. Well, at least mud could be tolerated and she hadn't fallen again. Small favors.

Huozin quietly and calmly attached himself to the group heading for the oasis. He couldn't remember the last time there'd been a rainstorm like this...and realized he might not have been alive for such an event before. He wondered if the water would make the oasis a good place to hunt, or if the location was too far within pride borders to make it politic.
As he was musing, the red lion put a foot wrong and fell face-first into a trench. While it was a different experience to be completely soaked through with water and absolutely covered in mud, he wasn't exactly thrilled.
Still, there wasn't much to do for it but get up and continue onwards.
