XNever do I fall into a nightmare.
Mara walked in front of the store, eyes reading the sign. Was this really a bar? The name didn't sound like it. She looked down at her watch, it was late, she should probably be getting her house ready for use. She reached into the back pocket of her jean and pulled out a pair of open finger gloves. She slipped them onto her hands and walked into the building's interior. It held a very pleasant and cozy atmosphere in the air. She sat in the bar, reading her feet on the bars under her chair, one hand resting on her knee her other elbow on the table her jaw resting in her palm. The bartender came and asked for her order. "Just a beer for now." She said and looked around, finding the menu and lying down three dollars in exchange for her drink.
And gladly there was no conversation between them, he simply took the three bills and went off somewhere behind the counter to grab her her beer. All he said when he came back was a simple. "Need a bottle opener?" Mara pulled out her key chain which had a bottle opener on it. "No." She replied and placed the opener over the cap and popped off the cap. She caught the metal lid and placed it on the counter, placed the lip of the bottle on her own and tilted it back allowing the liquid to flow into her mouth. She sighed after swallowing it down and placed the bottle on the counter puffing out a sigh of relief. A good drink ever now and again was quiet good, something she enjoyed. She spun her chair around and took in all the others in the bar, not to many. Yes, this could be much worse. She spun back around, picked up her bottle and took a long, large gulp. Yet always I seem to awaken into one. Now is the Time

Theodor lifted his head halfway just to see her message on the notepad, he looked from the notepad to her until he settled on staring at just her notepad. "I-I'm not good at names, and I doubt that I'll ever be able to remember your name." He refused to show his face to her, mainly because he still couldn't recall her name. Theodor sighed, "I wasn't created and raised normally...I'm a killing machine, why am I trying to live a normal life? I'm raised as a soldier. I'm probably a failure of a soldier too...I'm sorry for wasting your time..." He looked up at her, finally showing his face. But he wasn't happy, he was upset over something as simple as her name.

Madilyn reached her arm out and poked his cheek as if urging him to smile. "For someone who can remember Shakespeare's sonnets you must not have remembered him saying, 'What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.' I could care less you aren't good with names. So what if you don't remember my name Theo? Isn't that why we are going to get something to help you remember? So what if you weren't created or raised normally. Does it look like normalcy matters to me? Considering my ears it's the absolute last thing on my mind...When I look at you I don't see a killing machine. I don't just see a soldier. I just see someone I care about too. If you really were a killing machine wouldn't I be dead by now? Soldiers are brave, honest, and have integrity. I don't see where you have failed. It hurts my heart to hear you apologize for wasting my time. It's an honor having my time wasted on you. In fact, I don't see this as a waste of time Theo. Don't be so hard on yourself for forgetting a four letter word. Well, seven if you use my full first name. Anyway what I'm trying to say is I enjoy spending time with you regardless if you can or cannot address my by my name. It changes nothing. If you call yourself a failure and continue to be so hard on yourself that is wasting my time. Now why you chose to live a normal life? Theo that's something you will have to answer yourself, but when you do I'm sure I'll be right by your side to hear it. " Madilyn then began to eat her nachos. She offered some to Theo hoping he'd take some.

He felt her delicate and gentle finger poke his cheek, he looked at her. " Shakespeare didn't forget names...' 'I take thee at thy word: Call me but love, and I'll be new baptized; Henceforth I never will be Romeo.' " Theodor ate some of the nachos. Nachos became a favorite food for Theodor, it reminded him of Madilyn and it made him happy. He smiled at her, but with his smile came tears. The first time he had actually cried. Theodor stuttered when he spoke, "I-I'm glad y-you d-don't see me as a w-waste of time. E-even thought I can't r-recall your name...Y-you haven't g-given up on me a-and left." He got up and sat besides her, he hugged her and buried his head in her shoulder. His voice was soft, it was jagged, but it was clear for her to hear. "I love you."

Madilyn leaned down and kissed his forehead. With her timid, soft voice she whispered back, "I love you too Theo." Madilyn then wrote, "You're crying Theo. I got to see you express another emotion." She then placed her notebook down and wrapped her arms around him. "Madilyn loves her Theodor. Her imperfect, adorable Theo." Madilyn then wrote, "I don't want a Romeo. I want my Theodor. When all I was expecting was rejection, you held me in your arms. How could I give up or leave just because you're a little different? As long as you'll have me I won't give up or leave. We're connected remember?" She reminded him and delicately wiped his tears away.

He held her tightly when he heard her voice again, he read what she wrote. He wasn't Romeo, he was Madilyn's Theodor. He smiled at her, "W-We're connected...Y-Yeah." Theodor smile widen as she wiped his tears away, he reached up and petted her ears. "I-I'm glad I have you. I'm happy that you didn't give up or leave." He kissed her cheek, he wiped away the rest of the tears in his eyes. Theodor blushed when he realized that he had been crying in public. He buried his face in her shoulder again. "I-I'm sorry for getting upset. I-I'll make it up to you...I-I'll spend more days with you a-and..." He trailed off, not sure how else he could pay her back for the scene he had made. Theodor gently stroked her ears and smiled at her, I'm glad I met you.

Madilyn couldn't help but blush when he kissed her. Her heart pounded against her rib age. The mute girl knew she'd probably wouldn't be able to vocalize anything else without the risk of a transformation. She let out a purr in response to his gentle touch. Her blush reddened and glanced around hoping no one heard. "Please don't do that while we're in public. I'd rather not turn into a kitten. There's no need to apologize, but if you want to make it up to me you'll just have to try on a lot of tuxedos so I can see how handsome you are. I can't decide if a black or grey one would suit you best. You'll just have to try on both. Well that and spend more days with me. To be fair you already offered...Now come on before the 'Not-So-Catwalk' closes." With that Madilyn took Theo's hand and her nachos then left the restaurant.

He smiled when he heard her purr but when he saw how red her face was, he ended up blushing as well. It was her voice and her reaction that made him smile, everything about her brought a smile to his face. Though she was right, if he didn't stop, she could end up transforming. Theodor moved his hand away from her ears and back to his side, he bowed his head at her. "I-I'm so sorry, b-but I can't help it...I'll try on so many tuxedos for you! I'll spend a lot of time with you, I promise." Theodor watched Madilyn reach out and grabb his hand and he followed Madilyn out of the restaurant

Theodor went to work as soon as he stepped into the Shimmering Starfish, he cleaned the booths and the bar. He made sure to sweep the floor twice, Theodor sat at the bar and awaited for any customer to come. He wondered if Madilyn woke up and saw the note. Maybe she was already on her way to work.

Theodor was tempted to visit Madilyn at work. But something told him that he had to finish his shift first. There wasn't really anyone else at the Shimmering Starfish, he had already swept the floor multiple times. He wiped the booths twice already.

Madilyn shakingly entered the restaurant her hands over her dog tag conveying a very clear message, "Can you please tell me where this boy is?" Eventually she found him and when she saw him her eyes filled with joy and relief. She rushed over to him and embraced him. Madilyn then pulled away and pointed to her hoodie. Her ears were still hidden behind it. She took out her notebook and quickly wrote, "Help me Theo. My ears are killing me. I don't know what's wrong."╔═════════════════╗

Theodor turned around to see Madilyn coming towards him, he returned her embrace and smiled to feel her in his arms. Theodor looked at her hoodie, the outline of her ears was slightly noticeable. He placed his hand under her hood and petted her head, "Let me check on them real quick, it may be infected or I just need to replace its bandages. Follow me to the bathroom." He took her hand, leading her to the bathroom. Once in the bathroom, Theodor removed Madilyn's hood and unraveled her bandages. He looked over her ears, "They look fine..."

Madilyn's eyes somewhat narrowed at his words. She did not mean to glare at her beloved, but his words were not making her feel any better. They looked fine, but they hurt to the point it was maddening. As she just sat without her hood over her ears she noted her ears were started to feel better. Then it clicked. Her hood and hats were irritating her ears. "I think I know what's wrong now."╔═════════════════╗

Even Theodor realized what was causing Madilyn pain, "I-it's your hood, are you okay without your hood? I could wrap bandages around your ears and maybe make it look like a bow?..." He knew that she wasn't comfortable with showing her ears in public, but her hood was going to irritate her ears if she continued to wear it. He gently ran his hand over her ears, "I can end my shift and we can head home if you'd like."
