Liza would let her eyebrows rise slightly as the Magical Leaf attack impacted her Lunatone, a small nod to Terashi before she focused on the Ralts. "Well then, good to see he learned something besides whining and running. Lunatone, Charge Beam." She said, watching as the beam of electricity streaked by through a large amount of the Ralts still remaining from the Double Team and singed the true one as it went past. Before it finished, the beam would ignite into a blinding flare that would force Terashi to avert his eyes from the battlefield. Once he could see again, he would find the Lunatone beginning to give out a slight glow from the electrical blast, appearing stronger than before. "Come on. Time is running out." She added, giving a determined grin. Meanwhile, Tate on the sidelines would begin to rub his forehead at the antics. Why did things have to go like this?

"Crap," I huffed, watching Ralts' primary defense get cut down quick. I expected this, but that didn't mean I was happy to see it. Nevertheless, Ralts didn't have time to make more energy copies. "Magical Leaf again, Ralts," I said solemnly. I didn't know if Ralts could succeed, but I had to have faith while there was still time.
Once again, Grass-type energy leaves encircled Ralts, and were launched at Lunatone. If it survived taking two super-effective moves in a row, Ralts would be in serious trouble from taking half-damage Future Sight. Though there were bigger things at stake than that.

The Lunatone would once again weather the impact of the Magical Leaf, slowly floating lower as the energy that had been wreathing it wavered from the super effective attack. Eventually rising back into the air, the Lunatone would give a fiery glare towards the Ralts before turning to its trainer. "Fine, I'll make sure you can last until the Future Sight. Time for a Will-O-Wisp!" Liza called out, giving an emphatic point towards the Ralts. From the Lunatone's peak, a small blue flame would gather before firing out towards the small Psychic type and burning it with a ghostly flame.

It seemed pretty obvious at this point that Liza didn't think Ralts would down Lunatone in time. Burning Ralts dealt damage over time and reduced his physical strength, but did nothing to his special strength. At any rate, since Magical Leaf wasn't cutting it, I had to try using something stronger, and hope Ralts could pull it off. "Finish him off with Signal Beam, Ralts," I shouted.
Ralts began charging up Bug-type energy in front of it, forming an orb from which a beam would shoot forth. Signal Beam couldn't spread out like Magical Leaf could, so if this missed, I was out of luck. I just had to hope for the best at this point.

Liza and her Lunatone would simply remain still as the Signal Beam slammed into the Lunatone, once again causing the energy that was surrounding it to waver as the rock went slowly floating backwards and began to drift towards the floor. "Now then, your time is up, Terashi." Liza told the blonde, staring him down with a toothy grin as she watched the Ralts for a moment before massive wall of energy slammed into the small Psychic Pokemon. Whether or not it knocked the little guy wouldn't matter, since they would be able to take it out with their Pokemon. "Alright, so how do you think you did? Because while I have my doubts you got an accurate read, I'd like to see if you got it."

I sighed heavily. So much for hope. "I'd say another turn or two would have done the trick. But the objective was to take Lunatone down in the allotted time and we failed that, so I'd say we didn't do all that well," I admitted, feeling terrible about the outcome considering how far I'd come to get here.

Liza gave a coy grin at Terashi's response, walking up closer to the blonde. "Well, guess we aren't dealing with a prodigy, Liza." Said the now distinctly male twin that Ter had evidently been fighting. Behind him, a slight heat haze would roll over the Lunatone before it became the more bulbous Solrock. Further back, the reverse would occur with Lisa's Lunatone shimmering into existence.
Stepping up into the battlefield beside her brother, Liza and Tate began to speak. "Understandably..." "You may be slightly confused." "While you may have been able to beat Lunatone..." "That was not the point of the test." The pair pointed towards the Ralts, giving smiles as they did so. "You proved yourself when..." "Your Ralts used Magical Leaf." "After that we just wished.." "To test your perception and..." "Help to keep you humble."
Turning towards the back entrance, the twins parted as their grandfather walked up. "Well then. Good job, all three of you. Liza and Tate, glad to see you will be able to uphold our tradition once I'm gone. Especially the not blindly following orders part." When the twins looked sheepishly away, he scoffed. "Oh yes, because you were subtle about that one."
Chuckling to himself over his embarrassed grandchildren, the grandfather turned to face face. "Now then. While their last point could've been put better, I have to agree on the humility point. But I think I should ask, how do you think everything went now?"

It wasn't until Lunatone transformed into Solrock that I began to suspect that there were shenanigans involved. Because of the reveal, though, I didn't say anything until Liza's and Tate's grandfather showed up. But that gave me time to think about the fight, and instead of answering him, I laughed. "You know, I should have known something was up when Lunatone... or Solrock, rather, didn't even flinch when Signal Beam hit him. But I was so freaked out about failing that I didn't give it too much thought."
"I had a feeling something was up when Lunatone used Will-o-wisp, but I didn't want to spoil the surprise," Keiko confessed. I didn't think about that until she said it, and boy, did I feel like a dingus when she brought it up.
"Guess I should have called bullcrap sooner," I sighed. "Probably would have if I wasn't pressuring myself to succeed so much. Anyway, I still don't think I did all that well, though for different reasons, now. Though I'm a little bit more positive about the results now than I was."

The grandfather would look at Terashi for a moment before gesturing towards the twins. "You split your damage over two different Pokemon. They swapped when Liza shot off the Charge Beam. Your Pokemon may be a baby but it was able to do a number on them both. You still have much work to do before you would be able to truly compete against them at their best, but I am confident you'll make eventually." The old man told Terashi, giving a chuckle before he turned back towards his grandchildren.

"Oh, I guess that makes sense,"I shrugged, rubbing the back of my neck. Part of me wanted to point out that Rala or any of my other Pokemon would have performed far greater, but the way he said that made me think they were seriously holding back in that fight.
"So, what happens, now?" Keiko spoke up, feeling a little anxious. Not that I could blame her for that.

The grandfather would glance towards Keiko as she asked her question. Raising a hand to his chin, the old man would ponder for a moment before simply shrugging his shoulders. "You may do whatever you wish at this point. Pursue further training, return to your friends, or maybe gallivant off on some lover's tryst while your friends think you're still training. It is your choice at this time." He stated, a coy smile on his face as he awaited a response from either of them. He hadn't intruded on any minds, he was just simply observant. It was no fun if you had all the answers all the time.

Keiko blushed like crazy when Liza and Tate's grandfather mentioned a lover's tryst, which I couldn't help but smirk at. As far as I could tell, he wasn't actively reading her mind, but he sure had her number.
"I'm mostly just relieved to have succeeded at this mission," I admitted, still feeling a little stressed out given what I put myself through.
((I'm going to post what happens after this in another thread. Just consider this thread as complete.))
