I feel young.. Because I am. Almost everyone is older then me. I'm eleven years old. I'll be twelve on October 29th..

Hawawwwhaha *points* Eleven! How cute!

Oh I'm kidding. >.<

It's not funny...
Or cute.
I hate getting called cute.
What is so cute about being eleven?

I just turned 17 a few weeks back. I know that a good part of the reason that I'm literate is because I read a lot in elementary. I was the loner kid back then because I'm hearing impaired. Kids kind of avoided me. sad

But, I do agree with the allowance of "txt tlk" on the texting phones. Otherwise, it's just ridiculous. I can hardly understand what people say on here sometimes. Plus, all the lowercase letters drive me nuts. cool

    I find that most literate people are adults .. around 20 years old. I'm a 7th grader, which means I'm 11 .. turning 12 next month. 3nodding

I'm not being a stereotype, because I didn't say ALL literate people are adults. I just find that most are. Why is that?

Well, if I had to take a guess, I'd say that it's because alot of younger people just find it more convenient to shorten their messages through txt tlk, or they are still in a mind-set that makes them believe it's the "in" thing to do while online.
To me, it signifies a lack of patience due to young age. It's not that all young people lack patience, but it is fairly easy to tell that patience is something that most, not all but most, people aqquire more of with age.
When I was about 12 or so, I know that I did not have very much patience at all.
I was a txt tlker for a long time because I just didn't want to go to the hassle of typing out more grammatically correct words in their entirety, because I felt like it wasen't worth the slow-down it caused in my typing speed. I guess I started caring about it once I began making my own stories online. Simply by browsing around a few places on different sites, I quickly learned that few, if any, people ever take the time to read a txt tlk-written story, so since I didn't want my stories to go unread, I simply taught myself patience for the sake of my passion.^_^

I'm 20 years old, and I have had a passion to read as long as I can remember. In fact, I read more books than watched television or played video games. I don't know too many people my age who are truly literate; in fact, most of my friends are younger than I am, and they are much more intelligent than other people that are around me.

Well I'm sorry to hear you get that in a serious manner.
Age isn't cute.

If you're small, plump and giggly; yeah maybe.

But eleven is just a number for the most part. Fortunately I don't think there are too many people here that think differently.

I'm 22 and will be turning 23 on September 10th. I regularly go to bookstore at least three times a week. My biggest expenses tend to be books since I love reading.

Hm... I'm not.

I agree with the part that age isn't cute.

I just turned 19 a few days ago. I think age is somewhat irrelevantly to grammar though. Mostly, I think it has to do with who your immediate peers are.

I'm 18, just turned 18 a few months ago. And as for it in age? I know people who are older than me that type in txt tlk my dad and my older sisters and brothers. (I'm the youngest with my twin brother.) And all are siblings are older than 22 and some are in their 30's. So yea it's not realyl an age thing. I'm told by many people I tlak to that they hate when I email them or anything because it takes so long to read what I send them because I use proper English and the nthey got annoyed when I correct their speech, mainly my brother. -_- Right now I think more adults seem to be more literated because txt tlk is just being more prominant(sp!!) and wasn't back then as they didn't have computers and stuff, and they read a lot then too. Now anyone can get on computers and play video games. It just has to do with technology increasing and old vaules deminishing.

I'm 29. Yeah, I'm old.

I think the problem is with the curriculum in schools. They don't teach grammar, and they don't take off marks for spelling and grammar mistakes. This gives the message that proper use of language is not important.

You're more likely to get a good talkin' to for correctly using the word "********" than you are for mispelling "Anyways" as "Enee ways".
