Turning toward a group of his fellow first years, Blaire chimed in, "Gryffindors are to be brave, if not a bit reckless or hot-headed," he paused, noticing he must come off a little matter-of-factly, before coyly smirking and continuing. "Ravenclaw is generally for the more intellectually inclined - a very wise house. Hufflepuff is for the loyal, hard-working, and Slytherins are famed for their cunning and ambition." He twirled the hair falling over one shoulder between his fingers as he spoke, a habit Blaire used to distract from his impatience. He eyed the group of first years, taking note that several other students seemed to be struggling with the same problem.

All the energy and enthusiasm bustling around made Eleanor's head spin. Although not quite recovered from her pregnancy, the feeling of illness only caused her to lift her chin up and straighten her back. She never wished to show signs of fatigue in front of students. She was a Groundskeeper, a Keeper of Keys and therefore she should be occupied by vigor and brightness, blinding others with her energy. But, on the other hand, the platform swarming with animated students gifted her vivacity. But the first years looked very promising. Then it meant that Gryffindor would receive some very good members. They were all polite, friendly, and of course, thrilled about entering the castle, its shadow hovering on the silky water of the Dark Lake. Eleanor recalled her first day at the school. It was rainy, and the sun was shielded by gray clouds. However, she was just as exhilarated as they are now. However, she was slightly saddened about departing with her family.

But yes, those first years were good-mannered. She welcomed everyone with a warm smile, shook a few hands and smiled at those who looked up at her with awe and spirit of inquiry. Being a Groundskeeper was so enjoyable! She had the chance to befriend new students, and talk to them. It made her feel young again, somehow. Clearing her throat, Eleanor bowed her head with a warm smile, "Hello to you all!" she said loudly before tugging a loose, dark curl behind her ear, "My name's Eleanor Duke, and I'm Hogwarts' Groundskeeper," she introduced herself as her lips tugged up into a friendly, gentle beam, "But you may call me Eleanor, and visit my hut any time!" she added rapidly with a firm nod. She loved it when students visit her hut. She would make tea, chat with them, getting to know them. After a couple of minutes, Eleanor cleared her throat once more and cried, "Alright, time to move to the Lake! Follow me, please!" she waved the lantern above her head and began to march down a small path leading to the shore of the Dark Lake, where were found a small amount of boats.

Allen beamed and threw his hand into the air in between them in a thumbs-up.
Suddenly he heard the voice of the woman once more, Madame Duke she introduced herself as, and he turned around eagerly. They were on thier way!
"Hurry Bea! Looks like we are finally getting a move on!" He grinned at her over his shoulder and turned back around and watched the groundskeeper wave the lantern to get all the first-year's attention. Allen's dark eyes landed again on the boy with the odd twitch. He really wanted to find out more about him. His curiosity was hard to control. He threw him another smirk and glace and then followed the woman - making sure Bea was behind him.

Phi's smile stayed and her eyes light up, Jane was a very nice girl to have met and Phi could feel a swell in her chest at the self-pride at having actually entertained conversation. Phi hoped distantly that she and Jane could become friends. And if luck held up; that they were sorted into the same House.
Phi was about to continue with their discussion on the awe of the wizarding world. She was about to give her soft thoughts on how this was her real parents' world, and it had been so strange to discover it with that in mind. But, from behind her she heard the female voice of the guide calling them, telling them they were about to move up to the castle. Phi glanced behind her, grabbing Jane by the wrist to get her attention so they could go together.
"Looks like it is time. Need any help?" She glanced down at the luggage Jane had brought with her. Phi only had her books and quill.

As she turned to gather her own things before helping her new acquaintance, she noticed the tall, stern looking boy once again. He was out of conversation and was instead sitting a bit out of earshot, seemingly speaking to the beautiful owl he had with him. Phi watched him with curious eyes and for a moment his face seemed to glow. Not a smile, not quite. Just a ray of happiness. Phi smiled in his direction again.

Jane immediately piped up. They were finally leaving, and in nontime they were going to be sorted. "I'm fine thank you" I grabbed the cage with the owl and followed the other first year students. Her stuff would be taken ahead of her but she wanted to keep the small owl with her.

As the groundskeeper introduced herself and began to lead the way over towards the lake, Colton felt a thick rush of excitement run down his spine. Being adventurous, he loved new things, so he lowered the cage and adjusted his luggage comfortably in one hand. Looking up, he noticed the red head again, smiling in his direction. This time it caught him off guard, and he surprised himself with a reaction that was quite uncharacteristic of his usual behavior - a smile. He couldn't pretend that he hadn't caught her name as she was speaking to another girl earlier...Phinelia. Very different, but as mentioned above, he enjoyed new things. When the other girl had introduced herself as Jane, the common name only backed up his preference of the other.

Colton did his best to snap out of the distracting thoughts, tightening his grip on his luggage and dropping his head to the ground for a moment, his smile still present. Turning towards the groundskeeper, he began to follow the bustle of students down towards the lake in his usual uniform posture, noticing that many had already made acquaintances to ride in the boats with. Colt glanced to his sides, no one was there. Maybe making friends wasn't such a bad idea after all - he would have to look into that. Being alone didn't bother him at all, and most of the time he actually preferred it. The idea of taking the slow ride across the lake in silence did sound rather laborious however, so he reminded himself to at least join a few others if he couldn't find anyone else in need of a partner.

Rowen Kyocera

"Brace yourself,
I'm going to hug you....or not."

Rowen quickly stopped with her fidgeting and followed the gamekeeper with the group of her fellow class-mates towards the lake. She chewed on lip and sighed. She started thinking about the boats and the first-years she might sitting with. The thought made her blush appear once more acroos her face as the girl continued to walk towards the lake.

Danielle turned in the direction of the groundskeeper's voice when she began talking, leading the first years away from the station. Kaera had told her how your first trip to the castle was a special one, and Danielle grew giddy with anticipation. She smiled over to Alex, handing him back Simi who continued to purr enthusiastically. "Ready to go?" she asked, excitement bursting from the words. She grabbed her travel bag, the only thing she had brought with her from the train, and slung it over her shoulder. Following the crowd of first years towards the lake, anticipation grew within her small frame. This was it, finally. These were her first steps towards an education that would pave the way for her magic career. It all started with this very moment, and Danielle looked forward to stepping foot in the castle more than ever.

Alex smiled over at the groundskeeper when she introduced herself and practically jumped in the air at the announcement that they would now be heading for the boats. Having left his luggage behind like so many others he only had Simi to carry, though it may have been a good idea for him to bring her cage. Oh well, I'll let her roam around when we get to the castle, he thought. Grinning from ear to ear he turned back to Danielle and nodded. "I'm ready!" He said a mixture of excitement and nervousness building up inside of him. This was it! He was finally going to be sorted. The others around him seemed just as excited as he was. With his emotions in overload Alex was surprised his hair wasn't multicolored already. He shrugged it off and turned to follow Danielle and the other first years. Simi purred peacefully on his shoulders as he headed off towards the lake.

The lake had turned into a dark mirror as the light had left the sky in their waiting. Phi stared at it with awe, it was beautiful. On the horizon she could distinctly see the flicker of what seemed to be candle light, but she knew it was most likely the school. A bubble of excitement started to rise in the redhead and she felt herself glowing slightly. She had felt this sort of enthusiasm only a few other times. Though at each occasion, including the one at hand, she had wanted to jump up and clap like a child. Though she restrained, instead she allowed herself to simply squeeze her books very tightly as she tried to keep her small smile from growing. Though, she could read in the atmosphere, that few were suppressing their curiosity and desire the way she was.
She pulled her eyes from the lake and instead began to make out what seemed to be over a dozen small-ish boats moored on the edge of the dark water. Moving closer she also recognized the fact they were all oar-less. Phi brightened - clearly more magic. She simply adored how in this world it was used at any possible occasion.

Each boat seemed about enough for three or four people. She turned around to Jane and hoped they would sit together. She carefully approached one particular boat and motioned for Jane to climb in first with all her things. As she did so she saw the tall boy looking around a bit on his sides. Phi assumed he had noticed the same thing she had, that the boats were made for multiple people. She put her books in the boat next to Jane and approached him, tapping him lightly on his muscular shoulder.
"Would you like to sit in our boat?" She looked up at him, her dark eyes telling him that if he preferred solitude she would not mind. Phi was astounded that she herself was not already sitting alone on a boat, reading once more.

Mallow was glad the woman, who Mallow had just found out was the Groundskeeper, had announced that the pack or first years would be heading across the lake. The eleven year old witch had been anticipating this for, well, a day. Inside her cage, Blaire had woken but was quiet, thanks heavens. When Mallow started to walk, she noticed a girl (Rowen) that seemed to be blushing, which sort of confused Mallow because she hadn't noticed the girl before, which probably meant she hadn't done anything. When Mallow got to the side of the blushing girl, she asked, "Why are you blushing? I mean, I don't mean to be rude!"

Mallow hoped she didn't seem to have come off as some smirking idiot that was making fun of people, so she smiled a little at the end. And besides, she needed somebody to sit with on the boats, and so far she hadn't started any other conversations, just dabbling and moving on.

┏━━━━ ━━━━┓

"Mom!" a halfhearted groan was heard amongst a crowd of pupils being hugged and tortured by their parents. A few nearby heads turned in the person's direction, but the rest ignored the complaints and wrapped themselves in a tight, loving embrace. In a small corner of Platform 9 and 3/4 were found Alice and Adele Dundas, along with a tall, slender, platinum blond male, being the eldest Dundas child, Henry. The mother, as expected, was clutching to her daughter, letting out shaken, loud sobs as the girl desperately tried to sneak away from her tight grip. Henry, on the other hand, gazed around, giving a few familiar faces a firm nod while attempting to avoid his siblings. Just like the previous years, Mrs Dundas seemed to have a little difficulty letting her only daughter resume her studies at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. But it was now a simple routine of the Dundas family. The same had happened to poor Henry and John Malcolm.
"I'm not joining a convent!" the young Ravenclaw protested as her mother placed another kiss on her red cheek. A pathetic sigh escaped the blonde woman's lips as she unwillingly moved away from her daughter to place a hand on her cheek, caressing it softly.
"You have everything?" Mrs Dundas gave her daughter's coat a shake before patting her shoulders, her blue eyes scanning Adele up and down as a weak smile crossed her lips, "Books, clothes - oh! Hogsmeade authorization?" she sensed a cold sweat break through her brows while Adele rolled her eyes in annoyance, forcing a smile as Henry approached them, slipping his hands in the pockets of his jeans.
"Well, if that is the case, the empty trunk weights an awful lot," he joked with a playful grin, causing his sister to giggle lightly and his mother to shoot him a reproachful glance. The case has been packed with grimoires, jumpers and other brick-like useless objects. Just like her mother, Adele had the irritating tendency of packing more books than clothes and necessary things. As the Russians say, 'the apple didn't fall far away from the apple tree'!
"Oh, my little songbird is leaving!" Mrs Dundas sobbed loudly once more and hugged Adele tightly to the point of where the girl found it hard to breathe. Struggling against her mother's tight hug, Adele let out a heavy sigh and wrapped her thin arms around her mother's waist, letting her trail her long fingers across her golden ringlets. Henry, leaning against a brick column and smiling from ear to ear, pulled out his pocket watch to hae a quick check on the time. A very few minutes until eleven! Straightening up, the towering male moved closer to his family to tap his mother's shoulder lightly, causing her to glance up at him with tearful eyes. Within a reluctant gesture, Mrs Dundas stepped out of her daughter's way and, with effort, pushed Henry forward so he could part with his sister. He bowed his head and shoved his hands back in his pockets, a small, warm smile forming on his lips. He was never the one for the goodbyes, to be honest. Adele nodded back with a timid smile and, finally picking up her trunk, marched towards the scarlet, whistling train as flocks and flocks of students followed her steps, skipping with excitement. Within a dozen of minutes, the girl found an empty compartment where she would stay for the rest of the trip, reading and humming, in the company of her grey dormouse, Hope.

The trip was tiring, but lovely. The cabin Adele settled herself in remained empty for the rest of the voyage. The only person who interrupted her peaceful journey was the candy-trolley lady, but Adele refused to buy anything for once. She wanted to stay in form, and, besides, candy ruined teeth. After all, why would she want to appear witch-like before Blake? Not that it matters or anything, of course, but it would be an unfortunate mistake. By the time the train ceased to roll, Adele had changed into her unifor; and had finished reading Shakespeare's numerous sonnets. Even though she knew most of the poems by heart, she had always appreciated reading Shakespearean poetry. The language and the words seemed so...delicate, as if a swan flying upon a lake reflecting its image and the moon. Somehow, every poem she had read reminded her that. Although more attracted to novels and historical tomes, Adele always had a weakness for poetry, especially written by Walt Whitman and William Shakespeare. Classics.

Grabbing and placing Hope onto her shoulder, the blonde Ravenclaw piled up her case along with her classmates', so that later they would be discovered in dormitories. She gracefully hopped out of her train and immediately examined the crowd to catch a well-know face, hopefully Blake. But he seemed nowhere to be found. Exhaling deeply, Adele climbed into a carriage and pulled out a new book, tapping her foot as she waited for the coach to fill up.

Rowen Kyocera

"Brace yourself,
I'm going to hug you....or not."

Rowen looked at Mallow and blushed even harder, her face turning red. "I...I don't know..it's a bad habit a guess." She shrugged and looked at the girl, her blushing fading away. That seemed a bit rude from her point of view, but she didn't mean it. Rowen smirked back and outstretch her arm. "My name is Rowen Kyocera." she said as she flick a few stray strands of hair away from her hair.
