"Poliwhirl, move!"

A simple command, but a bit necessary. Damage really had to be minimized now if at all possible. However, the sheer speed kept him from being fully safe, still getting hit and sliding back from the impact. He looked somewhat fine still, though. "So much for that... okay, let's leave a little more ice!"

Poliwhirl reared back...

"Ice Beam!"

...and fired what he had left into a chilling beam aimed straight at Skarmory as it soared.

The metallic bird comes out of the attack then went to face the Poliwhirl, only to be met with the chilling beam to hold it down tight. "SKARRRR!"

"Just how I like them!" I said from the stands. The Skarmory was struggling. Hard. It was literally encased in ice, with only its head free. "Skaaar!!!" It was NOT kosher to say the least.

"Skarmory! Hurry out of that!"

"Finish it!" Aden wasn't about to stop his momentum now. He had too much going at this point. "Body Slam!"

Poliwhirl did as well, getting himself closer and springing into the air. He was soon over Skarmory, poised to land on top of the metallic, frozen bird.

The Poliwhirl hits its mark, breaking the ice, and rammed into the Skarmory. The Skarmory tumbled over and hit the ground hard. The bird wasn't getting back up. "Skaarrrrrr..."

"Skarmory is unable to battle!" The Ref Proclaimed.

"Skarmory. Return." Falkner said, recalling the metallic bird. Aden was down to his last Pokemon, as was Falkner. This is going to be a rough spot from here on, especially if I think I know what he is going to use next. "You are fighting rather valiant, Aden. But your battle does not end just yet. You now have to get by my most trusted Pokemon!"

"I knew it..." I said.

"Would you expect any less?" Jackie asked me.

"Take this!" Falkner shouted. "Pidgeot! GO!" He tossed out the Pokeball and out in a flash a massive majestic looking bird. "PIDGEEOOOOTT!" It squawked out upon it being revealed.

"W-whaaat!?" If he thought Skarmory was bad enough, this was surely going to be the one to cause hell. Poliwhirl wasn't quite at his best after the few attacks taken, and being left to only him, this was going to suck no matter how one looked at it.

If there was ever a time that a ground game was going to have to roll out something, it'd have to be now. He didn't want to chance another Rain Dance, useful as the move would be. Aden was going to need a much different tactic, and recalling the swirl on Poliwhirl's stomach gave an idea that just might be crazy enough to work. Knowing what to expect from his moves helped.

"I think rough is the biggest understatement I can ever say... Poliwhirl, let's try something a little different here. Hypnosis!" He called, aiming to buy a little time.

His Poliwhirl moved in a more rhythmic fashion, accentuating the swirl he boasted with each move. This, combined with a slight illusion as to make the swirl itself move, was kept in Pidgeot's view. It was perhaps the most he did know on such an odd technique, but if it had a use...

"Already!?" Falkner was compelled to shout. One thing he had to hand it to Aden about, and thats the fact that he is apparently no stranger to trying to cripple his opponent by any means, and this Hypnosis was no exception. The Hypnotic waves graced the Pidgeot's eyes and the Pidgeot was trying to fight sleep. It was unsteady on its feet, ready to keel over. "Pidgeot! Snap out of it! I need you to attack!"

It wasn't happening...the Pidgeot was more intent in breaking out of the spell it was surely starting to go under...and it seemed to be losing that fight.

"If I had power, I'd use it. If I had speed or a way to fight back on your own turf, I'd do that. I don't have those. But that doesn't make me less than anyone else. Alright, Poliwhirl, now let's try to turn these tides a bit. Rain Dance." Aden made it a point to keep his voice a little lower, to decrease his chances of outright ruining things by being a loudmouth.

Likewise, Poliwhirl moved around some more, summoning a downpour once more.

The downpour started happen once more and the Pidgeot went under the spell of the hypnosis. This made Falkner a bit tense now. "Pidgeot! Wake up!"

The bird was out cold for the moment...

"Now let's give it a bit of a wakeup call, Poliwhirl. Water Gun!" Aden didn't want to go for ice too soon here, knowing that the rain wouldn't provide much help towards it. It would, however, be a lot more useful if a similar attack was used.

When Poliwhirl sent off his attack, some of the rain seemed to be attracted to it, adding a little more punch to the attack. The stream of water grew as it reached Pidgeot, culminating in a facial wash from hell.

The Pidgeot was blasted hard by the Water Gun attack, and it was in fact a wake up call that it cared not to have. After a hard squawk, it flailed about then looked around seeing that it was raining.

"Finally, Pidgeot! Hurry! Use Gust!" he shouted. The Pidgeot took flight then flapped its wings hard. While Gust may usually be a typical basic attack, coming from the wings of this bird was anything but. The gust ended up to be a powerful mini-tornado, making its way straight for the Poliwhirl.

"Gust? That's-" Aden decided to shut up when he found what a simple attack like that was from Pidgeot. He soon made a mental note to never even think of taunting something like that again. There was little room to dodge something like that, and Poliwhirl found himself trapped in the winds.

"Poliwhirl!" He knew there was no easy way out of that, not until it died down on its own. He was going to have to try and attack somehow, do something that the wind couldn't stop as easily. Only one thing came to mind. "Just try and bear it. Try to get an Ice Beam going!"

While Poliwhirl was able to get the attack fired, he was thrown back to the floor after the winds ceased. The attack's trajectory took a hit as a result, potentially grazing Pidgeot at best. The Pokemon was quick to get himself ready after getting up, but the damage was beginning to take its toll.

The Pidgeot swayed a bit, averting the Ice Beam shot. "Its time to bring this battle to a end, my friend."

I immediately turned my attention towards Falkner. Crap, this wasn't good. Aden had to do something because whenever Falkner feels the need to shut someone down, he does it hard, true to gym leader fashion. My heart fell to my stomach just then. I knew what was coming.

"Pidgeot!" Falkner shouted. "Brave Bird!"

"Pidgeooooottttt!" The bird shouted as it started to ascend. "PIDGEOT!!!" With strength gathered, it made a loop and dive bombed hard and fast.

I looked towards Aden and his Poliwhirl.

Aden only moved enough to ensure he didn't get caught in the crossfire. His Poliwhirl didn't move an inch. With that Pidgeot diving like it was, it may have given just the opening he needed. "It's now or never, Poliwhirl. Let's see how brave it really is!" He hoped his Pokemon kept a little bit left for this, and trusted that he did.

"Make this one count... another Ice Beam!" A second chilling beam was fired, this one being a bit weaker than the last shot. It went against Pidgeot's path, with Poliwhirl falling back to brace for whatever impact would happen.

The Ice Beam connected, making the bird flinch and threw the bird off his trajectory and missing Poliwhirl. I made a hard sigh of relief, but this fight was by no means over. The bird made a hard, emergency stop, flailing about just above the floor, then turned to face it.

Falkner eyes narrowed. Aden was going to be a bit harder to shut down than he realized. While that could have ended Poliwhirl in one fell blow, Poliwhirl is still kicking quite a bit to not to succumb to such an attack quite yet. A lesson learned to be sure. "Alright then, Gust!" he shouted.

"Pidgeot!" The Pidgeot cried out, flapping its wings hard once more to unleash the mighty wind upon Poliwhirl.

Though the rain from earlier was dying down, Aden was cooking up an idea. If that attack couldn't be avoided and otherwise trapped Poliwhirl, maybe it could be pulled differently. He wondered if maybe it was a bit cheap, or if it would be utterly useless past fueling the attack even more. But there wasn't any time to think, not with his Pokemon being trapped again.

"Alright, we can't go with ice too well... let's go for this, then! Water Gun!" Aim wasn't as much of a concern in this scenario, and in fact, he wasn't going for the Pidgeot anyway. He wanted to see what the winds would do with this introduction.
