I think flame wars started on the banner, when one person noticed and remarked that there were only one type of fursona on there. I personally liked the old one and hadn't even noticed that there were only feline on there.
Tolera: I know exactly how you feel about not liking a friend's friend. I used to be best friends with someone totally opposite to me and sometimes when I was over at her house, her friends would be there. Because i'm usually such a nice person, she assumed that I would like them and get along great. As it happened, I absolutely hated her friends and it showed and my friend was hurt...so I made it so whenever her friends were there, I wasn't..

Lloxie's right about the banner thing...We DID used to have a bunch of different options...and even the very first banner had a bunch of furs in it that no longer belonged to the guild, and nobody cared then....If someone just wanted to put "AFG" in front of a picture of their fursona and link it to the guild, that rocks too.
To be frank, I'd like to see the whole banner thing dropped.
Kyo, it was nice that you tried to do something creative for the guild that included it's members, and no one is saying that you can't still. And please don't say that your opinion doesn't matter, when in fact it does. 3nodding
Now can we all just please try to get along? sweatdrop
Oh, and Sheol, congrats on the new baby....it's a beautiful name. 4laugh

Fog, you're cool, and I really don't mean to offend you, but the only person I see here complaining is you. You may like simplicity, but not everyone does; it doesn't always get the job done. And I think maybe the banner is kind of important. I mean, it IS the only graphic important to the guild. The old banner with all the animals on it, well if it weren't for seeing that in J. Koug's sig, then I wouldn't be half the furry I am today, becuase I wouldn't've been interested. And actually, I think the idea of a guild is not to keep people out. And we have not seen any banners that've had people's actual fursonas, except a minor char of Di's and Rainey and Asphy, and no one's complained. Kyo, you planning on changing the banner at all? Because if/when you do/don't, whatever, I'd personally like to see yours on the home page. Kyo's is pretty, representative, fun, and is anyone offended by it? Nach. If anyone is, they can politely post their opinion, and it'll be considered etc. right! Does anyone find any part of that paragraph a complaint? If I were saying this out loud, it'd be all level-headed and cool, or maybe some humerous frustration. I think it comes from being in a family of screamers. >> Maybe people /are/ just looking for drama? sweatdrop I mean it's about a banner. I guess I was just a little annoyed about the pure bigcats one, but I knew there must be an explanation, and if there wasn't oh well. But there was.

Kaz was at the LAN Party until 3:06PM (GMT+10) and it takes him about an hour to get home. But most of the lanners will sleep until the next day.

Anyways.. >>; Despite the fact that I have, truthfully, played a part in most of the arguments recently... I really think we should all just chill out. There is a lot of tension lately in the guild, I admit I was really quick to snap before. ^^;; Hehe, before.
Yes, most of this is going on because there are a lot of new furs coming into the guild and disrupting our "routine and atmosphere" with their own behavior. But.... Meh, I am forced to say that I was prolly one of the worst instigators in that whole argument. And since those fights, other little things have been blowing up because we're all on edge.

FogSage Lloxie Ok, now this is getting iritating. Nobody is "bitching" and "complaining" about the already-used banner. Some just would prefer a different one, and have MENTIONED it. There is a big difference between bitching and moaning about something, and merely bringing it up, discussing it, and actually doing something about it. And they have every right to say so and try and make new ones. Hey, the more the merrier. We USED to have a number of different banners, in fact. The more there are, the easier it'll be for someone to find one they like. Nobody ever said there had to be only one. And when it comes right down to it, people can post any picture they want so long as it isn't against the TOS or rules of the guild; so if they want, they can even post a banner with ONLY their fursona(s) in it, and use it! There can be multiple banners. Let people put what they want in their sigs, I say. Yes, they can put them in their sigs, but I say don't change what doesn't need to be changed. The current one is fine, there are no plans to change it, and people should just be happy we even HAVE a banner for the guild. The less fursonas in the banner the better. You see, if people only use certain fursonas, others will get jealous, others will get mad, flame wars ensue about how they should've been on the banner, etc, etc. It's a huge hassle and it's really quite trivial. Why bother changing it? It's doing a good job. Hell, it could just be fancy writing. No fursonas are needed. We don't need the pictures there to show the world what we are. Let people read the description and things on the Guild Intro page. Simplicity. That's all I ask for. neutral
You act as if there has to be a single, "official" one, when there really doesn't. Let people have a choice. And if they don't like what's available, they can make one themselves.
Also, I think you're really overreacting. People aren't going to start flame wars because they don't have a banner without their fursona or species ro whatever in it. That's all the more reason they should make their own. And if, for whatever reason, problems DO arise, for god's sake PM one of us mods! We'll gladly stomp out the flames.
You want a simple banner? Fine. Then use a simple banner. Want just text? Fine, use just text. It's that simple. =/ Everyone is free to use whatever method they want. You want simplicity, then good for you. Don't force it on everyone else.
