Tails sat, mostly limp, but with his arms on the floor of the tub, supported himself. He did not yet look up. "Mm. That sounds good."

"We're gonna shock each other until you're used to it, and don't burn out," Jules said. This was the simplest way he knew to jolt Tristen's system to life.

"You just relax there, I'll go find Typhlosion real quick. I also got to go find Articuno real quick for that matter. So just sit tight and relax, alright?" I said, rubbing the boy's head a bit then making my way off for the hall way.

"Wait, what?" Take a shock? "Um...ok. I guess. So. Just. Um. Do something using my electricity?" He asked.

Tails nodded. Said nothing. Just watched the water creep up his legs. Breathed in the steam, moist vapors easing his nose against the mountain cold. It was a good thing this tub had emergency drains near the faucet head. The boy was in no mood nor condition to monitor the water level.

"Yeah. You try to direct some volts into me without shocking yourself and when I shock you back, you need to keep some electricity where you think the jolt's comin' from," Jules said, and nodded. "If I had some metal tread shoes, I could show you how to work up some static electricity."

I made my way into the main room of sorts, where Typhlosion decided to take up residency of the couch, sleeping away for the time being. "Hey, Typhlosion." I spoke up. "How about go off and hang by Tails for a bit, ok? Take a nap with him."

"Ty...sooooon..." He got up and made a stretch, then started to make his way off for the bathroom where Tails was. Now for Articuno. I made my way for the dining room, grabbing the messenger canister, popping it open to make sure the letter to Mikey was still in there.

As soon as I was done, I made my way off for my room where Articuno sat. He was curled up in the corner. He was just waking up as a matter of fact. "Hey there, Articuno. Doing good?" I asked, stroking the side of its head.

"Arrriiiiii." It spoke to me.

"That's good. Up for another message run, then?" I asked.

The bird stood up. I strapped the canister to its leg then led it outside. "Same as usual. I'll be here when you get back, ok?" I said. The bird spread its wide, majestic wings and took off for Hyda once more.

"Um. Ok. Uh." Sounded simple enough, he thought. He then completely electrified, not really knowing how to direct the electricity, reached over and touched Jules, giving him a bit of a jolt. "Like that?" He asked.

When Typhlosion arrived, he would find Tails staring into the water just an inch from his nose. He would be unresponsive to all but touch in his bliss.

Jules felt the air and ground stiffen. His needly fur stood on end. "No, no. You're unfocused. Like this."

He poked the crest of Tristen's head with his index, and through it surged a jolt not so strong as Tristen had just loosed.

"Ty-pho-sion?" Typhlosion made his way up to the tub and looked down in it, seeing Tails in a state of bliss. "Ty-sion?" It spoke up to the fox kid.

Tristen winced a bit, coming off to him as almost a bit of a surprise. Jules would probably feel it as well, probably losing a bit more jolts than what he originally intended. Tristen felt all that energy course through him from his head to the very tip of his tail. "Uh-ok." Tristen then tried again. He reached over and touched Jules again. His body didn't electrify like last time, though the jolt was still fairly uncontrolled however, still giving off a decent shock to say the least. There was more of a issue here than just a matter of control...

Tails' ears twitched, but the boy did nothing more.

Jules didn't know if Tristen would realize his utter lack of response to these shocks rather than his quivering fur. He, too, was very much immune to electricity and, in fact, gave him a buzz. "It's stronger this time," he said. "Your tail's a lightning rod, isn't it?"

I made my way off for the bathroom, where Tails was already deep into the tub and I couldn't help but to laugh for a bit. The steam started to fill the room, slowly but surely, but it didn't matter right at the moment. As long as Tails was starting to feel better. "Ty-pho-sion?"

"He'll be fine. I think he's going to try to enjoy this all he can." I said.

"My tail is what?" He asked. "Lightning rod? What's that?" Poor kid really didn't have a clue.

Tails moaned in response, but it came out as bubbles.

"Alright. Get up and stand on your hands and feet. And keep your tail up," Jules said and rose from the ground. He stepped three paces away; enough for a short demonstration.

"........" I laughed a bit again then made my way to the tub next to Typhlosion. I reached over and started to lightly touch the brim of his ears. Who says I couldn't play with him a bit.

"Um..." This was weird, but he was the teacher. He managed to get up on his hands and feet like Jules told him to and managed to keep his tail up all he could. "Like this?"

Tails' ear twitched and there came a spurt of bubbles before he sat up straight in the tub, gasping. He was not so out of breath as surprised. He blinked up at Blizz, mouth yet agape. Then, realizing where he was his mouth closed into a pleasant smile, and he rest on his back on the water. "Sorry about that. I guess I was half asleep."

"Yeppers. Now, check this out."

He pointed a finger at Tristen, and an arc of electricity crackled toward the boy's face. If indeed Tristen's tail was a lightning rod, he would not be seeing stars.

"I can't necessarily blame you for that one." I said to Tails. "You really gave it your all today, Tails."

"Ty-pho-sion." Typhlosion spoke up.

Tristen braced for impact when he saw the lighting go for his face, but then he felt himself falling over backwards when the lightning got redirected and struck the tail. Tristen sat there after all was said and done with the look of dumbstruck.

"Yeah. I guess I'll just have to beat him some other way," Tails said. His eyes closed, and he sighed. "I just hope Tristen doesn't get too fast for me. For awhile, at least."

A fanged grin spread across Jules' face. "You're a lightning rod. My body absorbs electricity and turns it into biofuel, but your tail absorbs electricity and uses it as surplus of power. You're a lucky kid."

"He's got a while before he's able to do that, as far as I figure, Tails." I said. "He MIGHT get faster that you, but that's a good ways away. It's just depends on how good he gets."

Tristen was letting Jules words soak into his mind, comprehending on what he was just actually saying. The electricity that he takes in, gets absorbed? And it can be used for his own use? And with no hitch to go with it to boot? "I like the sound of that." He said to Jules.

"If he gets faster than me, I'll never get him to see what lava's like. With my help, of course," Tails said.

"There's more to evolution than shape-shifting, yanno," Jules said, and started to pace around Tristen. "Over the ages, certain Pokemon develop advantages through sheer luck. Mutations. Because these advantages make sure they get to have more kids than those without that advantage, most of these species retain their cool biology. Pretty sweet, huh?"

"Well, look at it this way. You made progress as is. You did get him into mud a short bit ago, right?" I asked him. "It might not be too far off, but you do need to work on your prowess when it comes to it, won't you?" I knew the kid wasn't Miles level...yet.

It did sound pretty interesting. "Wow. Is me being a. Uh. Lightning rod one of those mutations?" He asked curiously.
