Shrugging his shoulders, Niko replied, "They rarely ever bother any of us. Most of the faes that live in those shadows travel a lot, so they're hardly ever around." Reaching for the door handle to his cottage, he smiled once more at his company. "Welcome to my lovely abode!" he exclaimed, giggling quite a bit. Once he opened the door, Friend Bear could see in perfectly.

Although he was a lone male living by himself, the cottage actually looked decent. Inside the main room there were comfortable cushions scattered about for seating. Of course, there were pails on top of the main table, each filled with berries that Niko picked himself. There was one small bookcase off in the corner, making it seem as if he didn't read much. Off to the side, there was a small area that looked like a "kitchen" of some sort. In the center was a circle of wood, some of it was partially burned, either for heat or cooking food. Near the back, there were stairs that lead up to the sleeping quarters. And there were quite a bit of other random things that showed he rarely ever had company over.

"What do you think?" he asked her, hoping for a positive answer.

Friend Bear started to look inside the home slowly taking time to look at everything. She liked what she saw because it looked pretty good for a place where only a single male lived in. It looked tidy and comfortable enough. She also liked all the cushions she could see. Friend Bear always liked homes with some compy looking cushions inside. She smiled while looking inside and all the sadness she had some seconds ago completely vanished.

“You have a very lovely home Niko. I especially love all the cushions you have inside.” She said it with a little twinkle of joy in her eyes. She really did like his home alot. It was clearly this was a home of someone who liked it and was happy about it. A happy home is always a good home in the eyes of Friend Bear. Even if not much people appeared to come around.

Demetrius followed Crimson's gaze and stared off through the trees. When she asked him the second question, he didn't quite know how to answer it. 'Favorite thing to do,' he thought to himself, letting the words bounce around in his mind. Traveling had been a major part of his life even when he was young, but what that his absolute favorite? Then again, there was his magic…

In a quick movement Demetrius turned to her with an answer in mind. "I guess you could call it a favorite," he said slowly, preparing to show her a small trick. When he raised his paw before her eyes, he whispered, "Don't be afraid, for I won't hurt you, miss." The instant he went quiet, a small flame lit up in the palm of his paw.

Crimson watched his paw raise slowly and puzzled over his words... won't hurt...? Before she had time to really wonder what he meant the flames sprung up out of no-where and she jumped with surprise!

Less than half a moment later, however, she was fascinated! More than fascinated. She started to reach out for the flames, and quickly thought better of it...

"How did you...?" She asked, gazing at the fire in his paw, "Is it... it is real fire, right?" She could see why this might be a favourite thing to do!

Demetrius grinned, noting her fascination with his magic. "Ah, interesting isn't it?" he questioned playfully. With glossy eyes, he stared into the flame that burned in his palm. "It is very much real just like you and I." A moment later, he raised his paw nearly above the other and began wiggling his fingers. The flame started to dance around his palm, controlled by his fingers.

"If you'd like, I could suspend the heat of the flame for you to touch it. Instead of an actual burn, you would feel just the warmth of the fire. A pleasant one, in fact," he stated, smiling at Crimson. He could see the flame reflected in her eyes as she watched it so intently. The look on her face was most certainly the reason why he pleasured showing his magic to her. It was such a look that amused him so, quite possibly making this his favorite thing to do.

Crimson gazed up from the fire to him, eyes wide with obvious wonder.

"I could touch it?" She said with awe. "Yes, please!" She always wanted to touch fire, it lookd so strokable, she normally managed to stop before she burnt herself though, having learnt the hard way about blisters. Demetrius seemed like such a nice person, she was enjoying herself immmensely.

"Feel free, miss," Demetrius whispered. Concentrating on the flame itself, he managed to make its colors change. Instead of the bright burning yellow, it now glowed a warm orange, waiting for her touch. This was just a small feat for him, but he figured she would enjoy it. "The fire is ready," he stated calmly. "Do not panic once you touch the flame, for your mind will think you've burned yourself, though this will not be the case. It is not quite burning, but more enjoyable like a warm bath, I suppose."

Reaching out his paw a little closer towards her, Demetrius kept his gaze glued to the flame, keeping the heat under control.

Crimson stealed herself and reached slowly for the flame, her tongue sticking out just a little in concentration. Her breathing stopped unconsciously in anticipation as she got closer.

As her paw reached the flame she touched it ever-so-gingerly with one finger, pulling back slightly before determinedly stroking the flame.

She grinned up at Demetrius, delight evident on her face before returning to watching the fire and revelling in being able to touch it.

She pulled away reluctantly, figuring it to be only a short time offer, things like that must take so much energy. A thought flickered across her mind... What kind of Faekat is he if he can make fire like that? and her awe grew just a little more.

She looked up at him, smiling happily as the fire glittered warmly.

"Would you..." she started trying to think of something to return the favour, "Um, would you like to see some of my sketches?"
PostPosted: Tue Feb 05, 2008 2:26 pm

Demetrius smiled while watching Crimson. He could tell that she was very drawn into fire just by the way she gazed at his flame. It was interesting to see others besides his race so intrigued with such a simple wonder. Fire was a beautiful thing, and not many got as close to it as he had always been.

As if he could read the words in her mind, he grinned again, pleased to see her interest. Not many females would care to think beyond the box, as he liked to put it. He had only met a few who saw past the fact that he was male. There weren't many who cared what interests he had, or the things he did. Crimson was definitely unique, which he liked about her.

"I would most certainly love to," he replied as he quickly closed his fist. In an instant, the flame had gone out. Reopening his fist, she could see that no damage was done to his paw, not even a mark was left behind.

Blinking at the sudden disappearance of the flame she paused.

"Oh. Oh right!" She'd not expected him to say yes, she'd never shown anyone her sketches before and suddenly came over very shy as she dug into the bag she always carried for her sketchbook. "Hang on..." She did want to shre them, but was a little nervous about what he'd think.

She passed it over to him, brushing charcoal dust off the outside.

"These are just things I've done while walking 'round the island, they're not my best... just ideas and things I've seen."

The cover was plain brown with the inevitable black smudged fingerprints of a charcoal filled book and a catch keeping it closed.

Gazing down at her sketchbook, Demetrius chuckled a bit at the many fingerprints adorning the cover. Slowly he opened the cover and began to look through the sketches. Many beautiful sketches filled each of the pages he scanned. Also, there were many recognizable scenes that he himself wandered past during his travels. Such artwork had never been presented to him before, and so it was his turn to be purely amazed.

"These are absolutely gorgeous, Crimson," he spoke with a hint of awe in his voice. Although he didn't want her to realize exactly how amazed he was, he just couldn't help it. "Really, they are. I can tell you that I've seen many of these exact scenes before, realistically. Now that, miss, is a wondrous talent indeed."

Crimson tried, and only failed a little, to not bounce nervously on the branch as he looked at her sketches.

At his comment she was stunned.

"Th... Thank you!" She stuttered, pleased. "I've traded a few of my bigger pictures for stuff to live in, but I haven't shown anyone these before. They're kinda, well, like a diary for me. You really think they're good?"

She peered over his shoulder at the pictures, trying to see them from a different perspective, they were just, well, something she did constantly.

"I don't know that its a talent, really," she burbled slightly, blushing happily, "I just do it a lot, I've had lots of practice... Its not like your fire-making..."

(Edit smile Her words petered out and she had a thought...

"Would you like me to draw you?" She asked.

Kyliana scrunched up her nose at Asmo's remark. "Well, considering both you and Kozmo seem to be on the darker side of a certain line, I figured it would be fitting to have a neutral home. I'm sure she inherited much of your tastes on life and such," she said, smiling. She knew that she and Asmo were quite different, and she figured Kozmo would grow up to be more on his side. That didn't discourage her about raising the girls together in the slightest. 'Both good and bad could always even things out,' she reminded herself while looking at her kits playing.

"I doubt Aliana would ever have anything against you," she replied, a reassuring smile appearing on her face. "She's been the one wanting to come to the clearing every day, looking for the two of you. Of course, I wanted to as well, but she's been the one more determined and excited for such a meeting. Kyliana glanced over at her young ones and smiled. Still, to this day, she was unsure of how she became lucky enough to have her little girls, and the help of their father lingering nearby.

"Alright," she said rather loudly, turning back to face Asmo. "When would you like to start this little switch?" Kyliana was quite pleased that she would spend more time with Kozmo, and that Aliana would get to know her father more. It seemed only fair to bring the family together a bit more before Asmo and Kozmo went off traveling once more.

Aliana squirmed as violently as should could, though it was getting her nowhere. Kozmo had a good hold on her now, as well as one ear. Growling at her sister, she tried wiggling one set of legs free. Being in this predicament made it impossible to hear what her parents were saying, and therefore she focused on wriggling out of her sister's arms. Only her tail had finally slithered it's way free, which she used to poked her sister in the sides. Now it was Aliana's turn to giggle as she continued the pokes, hoping Kozmo would loosen her grip a bit.

Waving his paw in a small circle in the air, he then thumbed his nose. "Can't help it if the apple doesn't fall that far from the tree. Of course she's gonna pick up on some of my habits. Weither they be good or bad."

Giving a slight shrug, Asmodeus closed his eyes. The dark circles around them seemingly melding into one for a moment. "You never know with these things. Sometimes a kid could grow up to resent their one parent of something. Who knows what goes on in these kid's heads now a days." An ear twitched slightly as he listened to her, quietly contemplating. "M'yea well. I guess today was your guys' lucky day then."

Opening an eye slightly, he turned his head just a bit to glance at the FaeTaur. An eyebrow rising and falling all in one motion. She seemed a bit too eager, but what the hell. "Whenever you want cupcake. Don't matter to me. If you wanna take her now go right ahead.

Squeaking a few times as she was poked, Kozmo tried to keep a nice grip on her sister while trying to sway away her tail. Snapping her teeth in a fruitless attempt.

Ears perked as she caught wind of what her parents where chattering about and soon she released her sister and rolled off to the side. Laying on her back for a moment. Her devilish tail flicking back and forth across the grass as she panted lightly.

Her sister was good, but not good enough.

Sitting straight up, her eyes locked on her mother and father. Tilting her head. Who go where now?

Tiger grimaced as Rei chomped down on the poor, defenseless beetle. Insects were not considered delicacies in his mind. It seemed that wasn't the case for little Rei. "Does she even think about what she puts in that mouth of hers?" he asked Vex. A moment later he mumbled, "Disgusting..."

Reaching up, he picked another handful and began shoveling them into his mouth. Oh did he enjoy sitting in this little secluded area where tasty things grew. It was a slight shame that he showed more faes this secret place, but in a way, he didn't mind much. It was nice having some company for a change. And a baddie at that! Although the little ones were a minor setback, he could deal with them...for the most part.

"I'm getting so stuffed," he half-moaned, patting his stomach lightly. Having not eaten anything before this, Tiger most definitely stretched his stomach. "Think this is satisfying enough for the little ones?"

Feeling his stomach start to ache, in a good way, Tiger figured he had had enough to eat. Stretching out his arms and legs, he laid his back over the stump to relax. Now he was seeing the world upside down and his feet were dangling off of the other side. Just for a moment, his eyes drifted shut. Knowing how his stomach worked, he would gladly eat some more berries in a short while.

~*~*~

Grinning wildly now, Niko lead her inside and pointed to one of the cushions. "Please, do make yourself at home!" he exclaimed. Rushing about, he managed to scoop up a half of a coconut shell and fill it with berries from one of the buckets. Handing it to Friend Bear, he smiled. "If you'd like, have some of these. I find them deep in the woods surrounding this neighborhood, and they're the best around! At least, the best that I've ever found." Turning back to the bucket, he grabbed a handful of berries out for himself and started munching on them. "Delicious!" he managed to say as he swallowed the first bit.

Grabbing another handful, Niko walked over and plopped himself down onto one of the cushions. His tail wrapped itself around the base of the cushion, holding on for some unknown reason. "This is nice," he murmured, trying to stuff a few more berries into his mouth. For the moment he was silent, but only because he didn't want to be rude and talk with a full mouth.

~*~*~

Demetrius curiously glanced at Crimson. "A diary?" he questioned, confused. "What exactly does one do with a diary?" Although he had seen many books, as well as read quite a few, he had not come across the term "diary" before. Shaking away his confused, he looked at her once more and very seriously stated, "Why yes, they're quite lovely."

Smiling at her as she glanced over his shoulder, he stopped himself from chuckling. Obviously she was trying to see her sketches from eyes other than her own, but it seemed like she was unsuccessful. After a moment Demetrius said, "I suppose it is not quite like my magic, but it surely is unique. That in itself can make it a talent, don't you think?"

Demetrius was a bit surprised at her seemingly random thought. "Me?" he questioned slightly blushing. "If you feel up to the task, then go ahead." Never had he been asked such a question and in an odd way, he felt honored. Handing back the sketchbook, a strange look had crossed his face before asking, "Should I pose or something?"

~*~*~

In a quick movement, Kyliana turned and hugged Asmo before he could say anything to stop her. Releasing him, she awkwardly smiled before standing up and walking over to the girls. "You hear that?" she questioned, a little too happy for her own good. "Your father and I have agreed that it would be nice if we could, er, switch off for a bit. Aliana, you're to go with your father for a while. And Kozmo, dear, you'll come with me for a bit. Isn't that great?" Subtle squeaks could be heard in between her words as she cheerfully told the girls what was going on.

Clapping her hands together, she turned herself back around to face Asmo. "Are you sure everything is going to be alright?" she question, slightly worried. "Of course I trust you, since their both of our girls, but," she paused, unsure of what to say. After a moment she regained her speech. "There I go again, worrying too much." Sighing and taking a deep breath, a smile came to replace the slight frown. "It'll be fine!" she said aloud, although she was reassuring herself more than anyone.

Now was probably the worst time to start worrying about Asmo with the girls. It was obvious that Kozmo was in good health and liked being with her father. Slowly her worries sank away, and her eyes lit up once again. Turning herself back around, she smiled at both of her daughters.

As Kozmo had rolled away from her, Aliana followed her gaze towards their parents. She was clueless as to what they were talking about, and now wondered if her sister had heard something she didn't. Slowly, she sat up and took a deep breath. Wobbling her way over to her sister, she smirked as she looked down. Kozmo panting? Aliana felt accomplished now for having been able to get her sissy worked up a bit.

Though her grin slowly faded into a bewildered look as her mommy stood up. Switch off? WHAT?!

"Huuuuh?" she questioned, looking a little confused and concerned. "Me be punished?" Of course she wouldn't mind spending time with daddy, but she hadn't seen him since she was little. Was he going to take her away on adventures too, but leave mommy and sissy behind? The traveling part sounded fun, but she didn't want to lose her mother and sister.

Crimson mused on the idea of it being a talent as she took the sketchbook back.
"I suppose you could call it a talent," she said slowly, "thanks." She felt honoured by his seriousness. He was taking her seriously and that made her feel respected, which she thought was odd for a Faekat like her, that had no past to be respected for.

"Pose?" This idea piqued her curiosity, but then again, "Na, just relax, I'd rather try and catch you as natural as possible," She looked at him for a moment and then grasped the charcoal stick and began sketching, looking quickly between the page and his face. "There's something about people that shows through best when they're just being themselves, I like to catch that about a place, the spirit of them if you like. And people are the same."

Drawing focussed her, it was the most natural thing in the world - like coming home.

With her mind mostly on her drawing and only half on what she was saying she became unconsiously honest.

"I like you, you make me feel comfortable. And I'd like to capture that more than a particular pose... you know?" Her mind drifted back to the question she hadn't answered yet. "Thats what a diary is for me, a way of capturing memories on paper, this way I have a piece of what I've seen to help me remember how I felt."

She sketched and smudged and the image began to form under her paws.

She took the berries and answered "Thanks for the berries. I'm sure I'll like them" She smiled at him when he started to munch on the berries. He seemed like a really fast eater the way he ate those berries. She actually thought that was funny. She didn't want to laugh at him too much so she tried to hide her laughter a bit. I was clearly seen in her eyes that she liked something. She started to eat the berries too and really did love them. "You're right Niko she said to him. They really are delicious!"
