(( sorry for the wait)) Ebby listened intently as the male gave her his instructions. She methodicly processed and stored the information he had given her. She'd sit down later and analyze them. She nodded once recognizing her dismissal. "Yes, sir! I'll leave in the morning." She needed time to stratagize, not to mention she wanted Squeker to enjoy his night with the other bats. She bowed before them both and quickly exited the room. She headed straight for her room to rest up and think on what she had been told. hmm ok so go to the volcano. that shouldn't be too hard. But to find and get the glowing stone that might be harder, not to mention I can't touch the thing. But it seems the answer lies with the bees and nectar so maybe I'll head there first...Yes, that's what i'll do. Soon a squeak interupted her thinking, smiling she glanced up as Squeaker entered and landed on her shoulder. "Well my friend, we have a long Journey ahead of us. so lets have a good days sleep and we'll head out in the afternoon. Before she knew it the rest of the night had flown by and Squeaker was wakign her the best he could. She giggled as his wings tickled her. " i'm awake! She streched real good before standing up. She quietly gathered up her supplies and headed out to begin her journey.
The Volcano wasn't hard to find once she climbed up a tree. She then determined about where the bees should have their hive. she swiftly climbed out of the tree and headed towards the east of the volcano. the trek was tiring but the thought of pleasing the Goddess was enough to drive her forward. Suddenly she could hear buzzing. She was there! She soon found herself surounded by bees. Looking around she realized that they were coming from a tiny hole in the trunk of a tree. Her first problem was that the closer she got the angrier the bees got. Sighingshe muttered to herself. "There's got to be away to gather this for my Goddess." Suddenly all the bees flew off in a rush. Soon avery large bee squeezed herself out of the tree. She appeared to be the queen. her buzzing seemed to have apattern to it and if Ebby listened hard she could hear what the queen was saying. it seemed that they wanted to help her help the Goddess. She was overjoyed. "Well I'm to bring back a stone that glows the brightest and is the oldest." the Queen nodded once and soon bees were swarming once again. Several were bringing a waterpot plant while otheres were going in and out of the hive. Ebby took the plant in her hands and stared in awe as the bees filled it to the broim with nectar. After the plant was three forths full the Queen designated a large group to lead her to the stone.
She followed the bees up to the volcano. She stopped at the base just like the Queen had told her to and waited the bees return. after several long moments only half the swarm returned. it seems they were the only ones to survive. They gently dropped the stone in the nectar. Ebby bowed deeply to them and thanked them for their sacrifice and offering to the Godess. She waved soberly goodbye and headed back towards the temple. She forwent all sleep and tracked back as soon as possible, she headed straight for the throne room. She knocked firmly twice before entering. "I bring the stone for which you requested of me." With that she raised the plant firstly to the Goddess and then to the angelique. "The bees also make a deep offering. they gave me the plant, and the nectar as their offering but in retreiving the stone they lost several members." She wasn't sure if she should have shown her respect for the little critters but she thought they deserved to be recognized.

She tried to relax, having been on her own for so long she had not known such a sense of safety since her youth. She scooted farther onto the bed, and folded her legs cross-legged in front of her. There, that was better; she finally was comfortable and relaxed. She smiled and felt safe and warm; the goddess smelled of the forest and had a motherly comforting scent. “Thank you m’lady.” She nodded to her goddess, it felt like it did when she was young, and her mother would sit on her bed and speak with her. “The tale I wish to tell you this evening is of the night I became a woman, the night of my first kill.” She smiled remembering it fondly, the cheers of her family and the pride on her mother’s face.
“It was the night before my sixteenth birthday as is tradition in our family. That is the night we are given our first assignment to hunt on our own with no one there to make sure we don’t get hurt. I’d been going on hunts for years with my mother and grandmother, learning their ways and honing my skill. I’d gone and hunted deer and elk alone for practice and food for my family. This was the night we would all see if I had really learned what they had tried to teach me. I was to be armed with only my skill and a single dagger. My mother handed me a small black handled dagger in a leather sheath made to be worn on the calf inside of your boot. I held it frightened at the task before me. My mother smiled warmly and touched my cheek as she spoke, ‘My daughter,’ she said, ‘tonight you join us as a woman of the fiercest race of hunters that has ever existed. When you return to my home with the vampires head as a trophy you will no longer be a child, you will be a woman. That dagger in your hands has been passed down through the women in our family for centuries, each of us receiving it as you are tonight. Each of us has taken a vow, that if we should ever make it to our beloved goddess’ temple, we shall offer it to her as the most precious gift we have to give. It is said that it was our goddess herself who gave it to our ancestor hundreds of years ago as she would have given it to a daughter of her own. When you hold that dagger you hold the blessing of the goddess upon our great race. Go now and kill the vampire, Ziekial. He is a rogue terrorizing a small group of good fae’s to the east. Bring home his head to hang out side of our walls to show what we will do to any vampire in our territory.’ She stood proudly before me and I understood my mission. I placed the dagger inside my boot and set off from our village. I couldn’t bare to look back, I was more frightened than I had ever been but I knew with the goddess in my heart I could do anything.”
Her eyes glittered with the memory, the fondness in her eyes remembering her mother.
“I hated to leave without Cantare but as was tradition this hunt I had to be alone. My faithful companion since my birth sat patiently on my mother shoulder and waited eagerly for me to come home.”
A sadness filled her eyes as if she missed his touch just at the thought of him not being there.
“I raced through the woods as fast as I could to the village, arriving sometime near midnight. I waited and finally saw him. He stalked the fae’s in their beds. Cowardly monster that he was wouldn’t even face them while they while they were awake. I charged him, catching him off guard and landed a blow with my shoulder to his ribs. I heard his breath hiss from his lips as I landed on top of him on the ground. He was quicker that I’d imagined and had me pinned beneath him before I could reach for my dagger. I thought and before he could react I drove my claws into his eyes. He reared back and I pulled my dagger from my boot and drove it into his heart. His cries filled the night and his terror excited me. It was the first time I’d been intoxicated by the scent of fear. I leapt up as fast as I could and tore the dagger from his chest. I grabbed his long black hair and yanked his head back, slitting his throat mid scream. The vampire went limp against me and I sawed the rest of the way through his neck. When the head was finally removed I held it up triumphantly. I had never felt more satisfaction.”
A grin spread across Miseria’s face as she remembered the feeling.
“I knelt down and fed on his body, drinking in the stolen blood that ran through his veins. It was the first time I’d ever fed my blood thirst. I felt more powerful and more alive that I had ever experienced. When I finished it was nearing dawn so I raced back to my village. I should have been exhausted but his blood had energized me. I arrived quicker than I had left and let out a triumphant cry as I held up his head for all to see. My mother came and congratulated me and together we hung his head on our village walls next to the others. Then we feasted. My bat and I were treated like royalty. It was also the last day I would see anyone in my village alive.”
She smiled thinking of that day and then allowed a tear to slide down her face, still mourning the loss of her village.
“That next night we were ambushed. The vampire I had killed had been the leader of a large group of rogues and they wanted us all dead. They attacked in the dead of night, we were all sleeping. There were only ten of us in my village, me my mother, grandmother and great grandmother included. There were over two dozen of them, and they were strong. We were able to kill nearly half of them but they soon overwhelmed us. I saved my mother and myself as the last minute, but it was too late for my mother. She was too badly wounded. I carried her as far as I could to a small cave, where I tried to tend her wounds. She stopped me and I held her and wept knowing she would not make it until morning. She told me, ‘Journey to our goddess’ temple. Be her servant and avenge our family.’ Then she died. I wept all that night, left suddenly with Cantare as my only company. I buried her and the rest of my village in the day light and set out. The vampires had written on our village wall, ‘Any found alive will be killed. You can run but cannot hide.’ I stalked for months in those woods. Catching them one by one alone. I spent 3 years hunting them and finally avenged my family in the death of each and every one of them responsible for their murders. I hung each of their heads on our village walls, even though the village was empty. I spent one last night there and set out for your temple. After two years I came to you my goddess, and I am now here at your service.”
Miseria made a tiny bow, her eyes glassy with tears missing her family. She smiled though knowing that here in the service of her goddess she had honored her family and would continue to do so in the service of her lady.

Fatal Irony "There is no need for that." The words preceded the appearance of Vesira, in her full glory. Again, she was solidly in multiple places at once, but a small feat for a deity. She stood in the corner on the inside of the room, watching Shayna with a placid expression. "Why have you not laid upon the bed I've provided? Are these rooms not to your liking? Is this sacred place not peaceful enough for you to rest your weary mind?" The goddess frowned, folding her arms across her chest. She regarded the zamphir curiously. "I have another task for you, my dear. There is a type of flower that blooms at the top of the tall hills some miles from here. It is very rare and beautiful and blooms only at night. Its petals are like moonlight, or so I'm told. Only one flower blooms at the top of each hill. I want you to go and bring back to me six of these flowers. No small task, so I suggest you get some rest. This night is almost over. On the morrow, you will set out for this." The goddess turned, despite that there was a wall there and disappeared through it. Bowing her head just after Vesira left, Shayna sighed an apology. "My Goddess," she began quietly, hoping she would hear somehow. "The exercises I was doing are mainly done on solid ground. Forgive me if it didn't seem as such." Finishing her sentence, she pushed herself up and turned to the bed. Pulling out things from their places, she laid each object out on the bed. Before her were a few rare knives, made by family members; a few vials with strangely colored liquids in them, made from special berries found in the deep woods; and various other objects she would need, such as rope, a basket, and a special pouch for holding water. Obviously, she would accept any task her Goddess had to give her. Besides, traveling was something she rather enjoyed, so she was pleased with such a task.
Checking over her items again, Shayna picked up the small cloth on the floor and placed it on the small side table. One by one she moved each of the objects onto the table and safely wrapped the cloth around them. Luckily for her, the cloth was thick enough that none of the vials would get smashed. Moving her bundle back over onto the bed, she jumped up onto it herself and crossed her legs. Murmuring words, inaudible for anyone to hear, she praised her Goddess and thanked her one more for her hospitality. After a few moments, she laid back and rested her head on top of her bundle. It took a little while, but her mind finally eased itself as her eyes drifted shut. The last thought on her mind was the task ahead of her, and how beautiful these rare flowers must be.

Katjive Sterling hated the fact that he had fear. He knew that he was weak, but could see nothing that he could do to fix that fact.
He was rather shocked when she drank the rodent's blood. But, he hid his shock rather well. He didn't know that they were half-vamps. Of course, he wouldn't have been able to recognize that fact, because he had never met a Zamphir before just recently, and he had never met a vampire ever.
As far as questions go, Sterling had to recover from her fanged display first. So, after catching his breath, and attempting to digest everything that he had seen, he tried to voice some questions. "How can I not worry, if I am viewed as sport?" he said, frowning at her. "And shouldn't I be fearful of a race stronger, faster, and more cunning than mine?" She laughed lightly. "Your fear makes you sport, but your fear is a wise thing to have." She patted his head gently. Her eyes softened, though it was hard to see in the darkness. "You are far braver than I would expect from one of your kind. Bravery isn't about a lack of fear, but overcoming it. Even Zamphirs have fears." She smiled at him reassuringly. She was surprised that such a lowly male could incite her admiration. She understood why this one was held in such high regard with the goddess. "Come. Let's go back to the light of the temple and leave this ugliness behind." She gestured for him to precede her, bowing her head slightly with respect.

Vesira stroked Miseria's hair gently, as a mother might do. She listened intently to the zamphir's words, nodding slightly at intervals, understanding the pain it must be causing Miseria to recount such events. Vesira remembered this village and their faithful prayers. She had recognized the knife that Miseria had given as an offering, and wished to hear the fate of such devoted worshipers. She was filled with a great sadness. She continued to stroke the zamphir as she spoke. "You should be proud for the vengeance and wrath you exacted upon those foul creatures. You have done well. I had wondered at the disappearance of those devoted zamphirs of your village. You haver done my will in destroying those creatures." Her voice was soft and reassuring. "For this, and for the bravery it took to recount that tale, I raise your rank " She smiled warmly at Miseria.

Sterling was very confused by her remarks. If his fear was what made him sport, then wasn't his fear something to be rid of? Yet she called it wise. He didn't know what to make of her words. Her next comment, though, he could understand. He puffed out his chest when she called him brave. He hadn't thought of himself as brave, he had thought of himself as weak. This thought was what drove him to push aside his fear, in essence, the very thing that made him brave. He agreed with her about going back to the temple. He wanted to leave this place, and it's not so pleasant memories, behind. He was surprised that she wanted him to walk in front, as he knew that walking in front was a high honor. Had he earned her favor? He knew not, but gladly led the way back to the temple.
Pausing on the steps of the temple, he turned to Vampirella and spoke. "Well, then. I am ready for the second lesson, I do believe." He remembered that she had said that the second lesson would be easier than the first, and he sincerely hoped that would be the case.

Malachi noted the returned state of the fiery stone, taking it from it's nestled place in the plant, gesturing for the plant to be laid upon the offering table, set before and to the side of the goddess that sat so beautifully beside him.
Rolling the stone between his claws a smirk crossed his lips, his eyes lifting form the glowing surface to rest upon the femme that had managed to bring it to him. "You have done well. You have impressed you me, and more importantly," he eyes shifted toward Vesira, "Your Goddess." He nodded, sitting tall, his eyes trailing once more over the stone then over this femme. "As stated, with the approved completion of this task your rank has been increased to Neophyte. A task well done."
Turning once again to the precious stone that rest in her paws, he said no more, considering this a dismissal and nodding as Vesira spoke something in his ear, her wings shifting against his back behind him.

This time Miseria could not stop the flow of tears and she tried to hide it closing her eyes tight against the coming tears and sinking into the goddess' paw.

Ebby bowed graciously to the two and exited the throne room. Her first step was to take the plant to the offering table. She sighed once and looked up at Squeaker. "Well, my friend, it seems we're moving up." Since all her belongings were currently on her back she headed to the newly opened Neophyte hall were she choose a room at random and laid her stuff at the end of the bed. She yawned once and smiled. "Well, I think I'm going to take a short cat nap." Squeaker squeaked once before Ebby was fast asleep on the bed. He happily flew to the rafters and watched over her.

She chuckled at his naiveté as she stopped at the base of the stairs. "Your three lessons are completed. They were swift, so as not to upset you too much. Let us go within and talk. I have many stories I may regale you with, my dear Sterling." She laughed heartily and mounted the steps to the door, taking the lead as she entered her Lady's temple. She paused inside the door before the temple and looked at the portrait of Vesira above it. She bowed low, muttering what may have been a prayer. Turning, she made for the hall of the Most Favored of the Goddess. The door opened for her and she paused at it, waiting for Sterling to follow her. This was certainly a high honor and a clear sign Vampirella was in the Goddess' favor.

Sterling was slightly confused by her words, after all he had thought he had experienced but the first of three lessons, even though he vaguely remembered her saying something about lessons two and three. He had been too shaken to grasp her words completely, and in his mind, all three lessons blurred into one. Then, when the door to that hall opened, the hall he thought he would never walk into, he was aware of her status, and was amazed that she would even tolerate his presence, let alone be kind to him. Even though the lessons were harsh, she had been kind to him. Sterling walked behind Vampirella, an awestruck expression on his face that he could not even begin to conceal.

This time Miseria could not stop the flow of tears and she tried to hide it closing her eyes tight against the coming tears and sinking into the goddess' paw. Vesira's fierce eyes softened and she stroked the zamphir's short dark hair. She let Miseria have her moment of despair and waited patiently for her to calm herself. Presently she came to speak, "I have a special task for you, my dear." Her voice was low and soothing, coming out as little more than a whisper. "I wish to further honor your lost village. I want to make the anniversary of that fateful day into a Zamphir holiday, and I wish you to prepare the celebration." She patted the zamphir and smiled. A holiday just for their kind. How splendid! This was a large task for one zamphir, and it carried the weight of emotional pain for the young Miseria. Vesira is nothing if not fair. "For this, you will have gained my ultimate favor, and will be granted the position of Darkstalker withing my halls."((Meeki has approved the creating of a Zamphir holiday. She's suggested it be in October, when the Zamphirs were created so they'd be at their most powerful during their holiday. This gives us tons of planning time to work out the details. ALL zamphir owners (and sterling's owner wink ) are welcome to put in input, but ultimately, I'm leaving the decisions up to lilith, as it is her zamphir's new duty. I'm not gonna make you wait til October to get your rank though lol)

As the zamphir drifted into slumber something entered her mind. It wasn't anything tangible, just a desire to explore the temple upon waking on the 'morrow. Was this her goddess' influence? Surely it was She, giving her blessing to her disciple to go through the temple and meet the other followers present and make herself truly at home.

Miseria breathed a deep sigh comforted by her goddess' presence and looked up smiling at the deity before her. "My goddess, I would be honored to be allowed to remember my village with a day in your name. I shall make this a day all of Faetasia shall celebrate. I will hold this great celebration in October the month of the harvest moon. We shall feast and celebrate your name." A smile spread across Miseria's face, an expression not seen since the death of her village. Cantare fluttered in happily and landed on Miseria's shoulder, chirping happily and nestling his furred face against the goddess' hand by Miseria's cheek. He too was honored for all of the village for centuries had cared for his bloodline and the bats and their masters were slaughtered, he too had lost his flying brothers and was happy to feast with the other bats of the temple in their remembrance. "I shall not fail you m'lady. Cantare and I will throw a celebration like none ever seen in Faetasia." She smiled and beamed with joy.
