I see no point in nicknames, not point at all, but whatever suits you better. I use nicknames to help conceal my privacy. Since I will be working in the art world, it's important for me to separate my private and professional life. It is possible for someone to probably track down who I am. However, I work hard to conceal my identity so that I won't need to, say, remove all my works from some where. Anyway. Originally my nicknames were names for characters in games. They weren't furry, but they slowly became my "second name" online and soon were adopted for my fursona. 3nodding

My name, I more-or-less just randomly created. It has no real meaning, though some people seem to think it does... I've gotten kicked from family-friendly gaming servers for the "obscene" name. Yeah.
Things like that are why I occasionally consider changing it to something else.

Name's Zree Rye-ben. My first name was taken from a character in a story I wrote awhile back. Last name is just something I made up ^^.

Ariun Nastula
I came up with ariun after an artist I found had the name I wanted: Arius, so i just switched in an "N" and got Ariun
Nastula I got from SL, cause they require a username and a sub name that is always uniqe, or plain, but no one wants those now do they razz and i found Nastula, got stuck to me in the game and then out of it

I've been rockin' the name Zaerin Grey for quite some time, though lately I've been using the handle Chronoscide as well.
I wasn't actually called Zaerin when I first started playing Gaia, it was Tilltomarrow, shortened to Tilly- but after switching fursonas to a rabbit I decided to switch it up a bit.
I'm not really sure where I got Zaerin from really, just sounded nice. Grey though is after the pelt colour- nothin' but flawless grey from head to tail- even in the eyes. Fits my fairly neutral personality wink
as far as Chronoscide goes though it's just a name I've adopted over time- the one and only Time Killer. Same ole me though! Just with a shiny new title.

Didn't want my work finding out what I did in my spare time smile It doesn't help though that most of the people I know in the fandom don 't call me by the fursona, but rather my real name- they think it's more fitting.

I modeled my fursona's personality ENTIRELY after my own, and since she's so much like me, I let her keep my nickname as well.

I dunno if you could really call it a fursona, per se, though I have RP'd him as an anthro, came from a series of dreams I've had since I was a little kid... a bit violent, actualyy, i won't go into detain, but the short of it is, one set was about an ancient vampire who, later on began going by the name of Nieru Kitera ((hence my username, and main RP char)) and the other, which took place later on was of a wolf demon named Kirasou Nevara, or Kira, for short. So when I started working out my story for the RPG I'm writing, I made the "main" character's animal companion a large white wolf named Kirasou, which is how he eventually became my anthro character, as well as some screwed up alternate personality/demon sharing a body with me ((Hey, I'm not the pone who said it. The very first time i ever told anyone about those dreams, even my best friend was after some street corner psychic described them to me in detail and said they were memories of past lives.... but then again, I was alone when that happened, so maybe I'm just schizophrenic.
Anyways, My point was that's why he's called Kira.
