Tam is as sweet as they come. He does not share his father's fear and distaste for the world above, nor does he feel as strongly about his appearance; however, he does not see any reason he needs to go to the surface, and he does not find taking care of his looks to be onerous or harmful. He will go out of his way to help someone in need, no matter what he was planning to do for himself. He has a touch of his father's ADD, so he works hard on combating it, trying to learn focus techniques, and throwing himself into whatever he is doing as much as he can.

Cara, twin to brother Mel, is a sweetheart of a seal. She loves helping nearly as much as Tam does, so she sticks around him, to lend a flipper to his attempts to aid others. She has a bit of a temper, but she's working on it. She loves to play, but hates to be seen as childish.
