≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎ Grayson Powell History of Magic Professor Former Ravenclaw ≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎ Now where did I put that wand?Grayson swept into the class, ready to teach. He was actually a bit happier about this class, but still a little disappointed about the fact that they seemed not to be too inerested in history. Ah, well it really wasn't a surprise. Not everyone was excited about the same things that he was. He strode up to the chalkboard and grabbed a piece of chalk. He quickly wrote down the topic of the day and set down the chalk, dusting his hands off."Hello, class. Today we will be discussing the Chamber of Secrets. Now I know that some of you may have already heard about this, so please just bare with me while I bring the ones that haven't up to speed.
"The Chamber of secrets was built over a thousand years ago, around the same time that Salazar Slytherin left the school. There was speculation about the chamber for centuries, but no one could really even pinpoint how Slytherin could have created such a place to begin with, let alone what the Chamber was to be used for. However, that all changed back in the first half of the twentieth century.
"The chamber was opened, releasing a monster that only an heir to Slytherin could control. Since Salazar Slytherin was a Parselmouth, the creature was a snake. A basilisk, to be precise. The chamber had been opened by a then-unknown prefect by the name of Tom Riddle, and its purpose was insidious. That was to kill every one who didn't belong in Hogwarts. Namely muggle-born witches and wizards.
"Eventually the attacks stopped, as someone was apprehended for the crimes. However that was not the end for the history for the Chamber itself. In 1992, the chamber was opened again, this time by a fragment of Tom Riddle's soul. The attacks resumed, and it wasn't until the actions of Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley that the attacks stopped." He looked about the class. "Now I know that some of you may have questions, so don't hesitate to ask. I would be happy to answer them to the best of my ability." ---------------------------------- Location: History of Magic Classroom State: Teaching OOC: Sorry thts is late, I was having issues trying to figure out how to word this post razz ----------------------------------

♥ Ariana Hawthorne ♥ First Year: Hufflepuff§ M I L Σ ツit looks good on you.Yawning, Ariana walked into class. She had trouble getting to sleep last night; therefore, she felt tired this morning. She took a seat and pulled out parchment and a quill, as usual, and wrote down what Professor Powell wrote on the board. With every word he said, she scribbled down the information she thought was important. The Chamber of Secrets? She wondered what it was until the professor explained what they needed to cover on it. When he mentioned that the basilisk's purpose was to kill muggle-borns, or wizards and witches who 'didn't belong,' Ariana looked over at Steele, her Hufflepuff friend. He does belong. She looked back down at her parchment to write down the snake's purpose. She felt much hatred for Salazer Slytherin for creating such a beast. Her face turned a bit red as she also hated Tom Riddle. The Dark Lord, she thought with a frown. wearing

☠ Amanda Davis ☠ First Year: SlytherinYou Touch Me..I break you.Amanda sighed as she walked into one of her least favorite classes. She took a seat in the back again and didn't take notes on the lecture. When Professor Powell spoke about the Chamber of Secrets, Amanda was intrigued by this topic. She listened closely to everything he said. At the end of the lecture, she raised her hand. This better not start another argument, she thought, looking at the students who sat in front of her before making eye contact with her professor. "Did Tom Riddle know what the Chamber of Secrets possessed before opening it?" she asked, wondering whether or not he knew there was a basilisk in there. "Also, when he found the snake, did he know it was meant to destroy all the mu- muggle-born students in the school?" she continued with her question. That was close, she thought, referring to her almost slipping up the word mud-blood. Luckily, not even the 'd' sound came out before she corrected herself. wearing

Chase Henrick ~ Ravenclaw ::: First Year ~ "Where is the chamber?" Chase wanted to ask. He was sure that he would only get stares and possibly some assumptions that he was crazy and possible turning into a dark wizard. Not many people knew him well, and his quiet demeanor wouldn't help in this case. Plus, there was a reason why the professor didn't share that tiny piece of information. Perhaps the basilisk was still alive down there and anybody who opened the chamber would die for sure. Some information was best left unknown, even if the curiosity was eating at him. "The person who tries to live alone will not succeed as a human being. His heart withers if it does not answer another heart. His mind shrinks away if he hears only the echoes of his own thoughts and finds no other inspiration." - Pearl S. Buck

Shina took a seat in the front, and as usual, got out her supplies and took neat notes on the teacher's lecture. When he asked for questions, Shina raised her hand. "I read that the basilisk was killed by the Honored Survivor. Was the chamber ever opened again so the carcass could be broken down into spell components?" ((OOC: ... ))

First Year Hufflepuff The Chamber of Secrets. How interesting. Annabelle sat in on the lesson listening to the professor talking about Tom Riddle. What a scary person. And the basalisik. How terrifying, Annabelle was sitting on the very edge of her seat, this lesson was rather scary. Annabelle looked at Ariana sitting next to her and leaned over to her "How scary" how scary she said and looked back up to the teacher with big eyes. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ First Year Ravenclaw History of Magic. Joseph was very interested in this class. The Ravenclaw sat in his seat leaning back and listening hard. The Chamber of Secrets. This topic intrigued Joseph. The eleven year old sat listened to the students asking questions, he didn't have any questions, and other students asked them first.
Naughty Amanda. Joseph heard her sturggle to say Muggle-born. Was she going to say mud-blood? Joseph hated that word, he was a full blood, but it was very offensive to others.

Hufflepuff|1st year|Muggle-Born|Single Why must I be judged upon the purity of my blood? Steele listened to the lecture, fist clenched the whole time. He was starting to really understand why he was treated differently and it frustrated him to no end. Tom Riddle was a fool, he had no leverage that could of caused him to think they way he did. He had no purpose; he just wanted to think like that. This was an the atrocity that still lives even to this day. These purebloods are afraid, afraid that an outsider, a muggle born, would be more powerful than they themselves are. Steele started to see it now, and that did nothing but drive him. He was not going to be stopped now...for he was going to persevere to no end. He will prove himself. Will I ever be the same?

± : . : ± : . : ± : . : ± Eretria Whitethorne First Year - Slytherin ± : . : ± : . : ± : . : ± Eretria came in quietly, making her way to Amanda to sit. She quickly wrote down the information about the Chamber of Secrets, and wondered about what could be left down there. She then heard some of the things that her classmates had said. Amanda, she had noted, probably almost said mudblood, but to Eretria, it was just a word. Just like the Dark Lord's name had eventually lost quite some fear being spoken, she believed that eventually that some less polite words would probably lose the power that they had once had. Hearing the Ravenclaw's question caused her to think. She certainly had heard a rumor that it had been opened again, but she couldn't be sure about it. Instead, she sat quietly as she waited for the professor to respond. ---------------------------------- Location: History of Magic State: Quiet, interested OOC: Gonna post the professor next, trying to catch up. ---------------------------------- Let's see what I can make of this...

≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎ Grayson Powell History of Magic Professor
Former Ravenclaw ≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎ Now where did I put that wand?Grayson rose an eyebrow as Miss Davis seemed to correct herself. He had heard that term several times directed at him, but decided to just focus on the question that she had asked. "Well, Miss Davis, as far as Tom Riddle knowing about what was in the Chamber and what it was there for, it's been speculated he discovered the existence of the chamber in research, as well as its purpose. He himself was the last known Heir of Slytherin, so it stands to reason he decided to continue his ancestor's work." He then looked over at Miss Kiremoto."Miss Kiremoto, as far as if the chamber was opened again, it was. During the Battle of Hogwarts, it was opened to help defeat Voldemort. However, by that time, the basilisk was long dead, and no part of it could be used for ingredients." ---------------------------------- Location: History of Magic State: Teaching OOC: ... ----------------------------------

Former Ravenclaw Grayson looked up from his book as he noticed the students coming in. He didn't know how long he had been sitting reading, but the effect was always the same. Usually it would end with him being confused about what was going on, but today was different. He was supposed to be teaching the class, and as usual, it left him a bit awkward as to how to go about it. He however decided to go about doing it the simple way. "Hello, class, and welcome to History of Magic. I am your professor, Grayson Powell. In this class, there is no wandwork, since magic doesn't help you to learn about history. Therefore, your wands will need to be put away." He stood, taking his feet from off the desk and faced the children directly. "History is a collection of events, as I'm sure you are all well aware of. However, these events help to shape the world around us. If not for the witch burnings of the sixteen hundreds, we would not have the Statue of Secrecy. If not for the crises of the last century, we would not have cooperation of all magical folk." He glanced around the class, letting his gaze fall over each of the students. "Now, can someone tell me, besides what I have stated, why history needs to be learned?"

She had found it nice to see someone involved with their reading. It had given her time to find a spot and settle in. Sparrow stayed far away from the front, her Aunt's horror stories about a professor with a lisp had long convinced her to keep towards the center rows. Parchment out and quill ready, she was happy to be in a class she wouldn't have to wave her wand to levitate feathers or try to convince a broom to move. Cerulean eyes fell on the professor as he spoke- where else was there to look? Tiny words, fragments of what he was saying, would be written on the edges of the paper. A habit from taking long orders to held her aunt. Sunset golden head turned this way and that at his questions. If no other hand would rise, very slowly she would lift hers- quietly praying the man would overlook her.

Marina walked into History of Magic determined to learn. The class was said to be boring but history had always intrigued her. She sat down, listening to the professor's question. Her hand shot up. She knew this. She looked to the professsor expectantly, hoping to be called on.
