[Sign me up: Returning Male!]
Name: Mkesha Meaning: ‘Night watcher’ in swahili Rank: Was going to train as a Howler before leaving the pride, but is now torn between Howler and Colossus and will take which ever position the pride needs most. Personality: Before he left the pack he was young and brash, highly energetic and playful with no concept of loneliness or struggle. Good kid he loves to make others laugh and always tried to help his parents. He also took his studies as a Howler seriously though could never help but goof about in class. When he fled to the roguelands he was forced to grow up quickly, learning to fend for himself and to hunt on his own, rather than as a pack. He survived well enough, becoming a charming if slightly goofy male with a quietly sad expression lurking in his eyes. He would have given anything to go back home but couldn’t face bring yet more shame to his family, so he exiled himself and never thought he would eventually return.
After the disaster strikes and he does go back, he realises what a fool he had been. He has lost so much, his parents, his friends... his first love who had never confessed to and now.. he never would have the chance. The only good thing in his life is Alnilam and he tries to help her as much as he can, never complaining no matter how tired and hungry he is, he makes sure everyone else in the shattered pack has been seen to first before allowing himself to rest and eat. While there is still that playful, optermistic youth still somewhere deep inside him, he has become a far more subdued male who carries much guilt on his shoulders. He blames himself for disappointing his parents. Never having returned to find out if they actually blamed him or not..
Prompt #: 1 Prompt Response: A bird’s warning cry filtered past his thoughts, a certain word jarring from his mind back from its internal dreamscape.
The Nyota-Wasomaji?
Jerking upright out of the light dose he had fallen into, he ignored his half-eaten meal and twisted in a tight circle, seeking the bird who’s voice had called him from sleep. “Wait! You there!” he called, his deep voice loud yet thin with sudden, gut clenching fear. What had happened to his old pride?! He had to find out. Locating the bird that had alighted on a sun-blasted tree a short distance away by its fur-rippling cries of disaster, Mkesha sprang into a dead sprint, already calling out to the bird as he raced up beside its perch.
“What happened? Tell me what happened to the Nyota-Wasomaji!” Blood pounded in his ears so hard he was afraid he’d miss the birds reply as images of those he had known, friends and family, hurt, dead or dying, filled his mind. No, he would not think such things!
The bird’s erratic reply did at least offer some kind of hope, frail though it was. A huge uplifting of the earth... collapsed caves.. dead and dying but.. survivors.. His heart juddered against his ribs as images of a pretty young dog with golden eyes and a star flecked crimson coat filled his mind. Anatola... The young female he had fallen so deeply in love with the moment he had laid eyes on her. She had been beautiful, so innocent and yet cheeky with it. They had spent many hours playing together like pups, silly childish games that took on a whole new meaning the deeper he fell for her. When his parents started making noises about him growing up, of finding a mate, he had been all set to claim the amazing female as his own, but then they had told him of their plains for him to wed Alnilam. A female who he considered more of a sister than a wife... He loved Alnilam deeply, but it was not the same as the passion he felt for Anatola. Yet he could not imagine breaking his parents hearts, not to mention the expectations of the rest of the pack. Unable to face the choice between what was best for the pack what his own heart truly desired... he had fled.
Now, a full adult with more than a few mistakes to his name, he knew he had to go back, had to help the pack that had given him life, a home, love... He desperately needed to see his parents and Alnilam, to make sure they were safe and well. And he needed to find Anatola... the thought of her hurt was a physical blow to his chest.
Future plots: Mkesha’s first love, Anatola, is killed in the earthquake, her body never is discovered either and it wounds Mkesha to the point where he loses his playful, puppyish personality and suddenly grows up into a far more sober, thoughtful dog. He still sees Alnilam as a best friend and almost a sister and could not imagine becoming her mate. He will always be a support to her, ready to do almost anything needed to help her and her pack. Be it hunting for food, digging dens or looking after younger members.
He will meet and fall for Yildun after resigning himself to being a bachelor. Second time around is far harder and for a long time he doubts himself, doubts his heart, and even doubts that he would be good enough for Yildun, considering all he has done, the abandonment of his pack and all the mistakes he has made since... But eventually he can’t take the strain anymore and confesses, ready to run back out into the roguelands when she refuses...Whether or not she refuses this first time would be rped out with Ameh, and how the pair would eventually get together would be plotted in rp. They will pair up, only the how would need to be worked out. Plots are delicious! How many Wild Dogs do you own?: 3
