The Musical Future

Kendall did indeed follow Kyria up to the room. He entered into it behind her and made sure the door was locked behind them. He then looked around the room and checked to make sure it was secure. "This seems safe enough." he said, looking to Kyria.

Once the room was secure she pulled out a little container and put her brown coloured glass contacts in them blinked a few times then turned her gaze to him. The whites were a little inflamed but nothing to drastic. She hoped he wouldn't freak out over the abnormal colouring. Or make some smart assed comment. She just hoped he would accept her.

Kendall looked at her eyes, his own slightly widening. "Well . . . that is a rather unusual color. Pretty though." he said matter-of-factually. He did think that her eyes were a rather pretty color, and he had no shame in saying so.

Kyria's cheeks warmed. Her eyes turned to the side a little as if his comment both embarrassed and gladdened her. At least he wasn't calling her a freak. "Thank you." She replied just above a whisper.

Kendall smiled and nodded a little at her thanks, acknowledging that he had heard her. "So, what is the true color of your hair then? Do the drapes match the windows?" he asked, smiling a bit wider. The window, of course, referring to her eyes.

Was he. . . flirting? If but a little? Kyria couldn't tell. "Yes." She replied after a little bit. "But the shade is lighter by a fraction. Maybe once I'm not wanted by Tyrion I'll show you sometime." She smiled sort of flirting back.

Kendall smiled. "I'm sure it's lovely." he said, and turned to look at the window of the room, checking it to make sure it was locked. It wasn't. He locked it, paranoid now about someone coming in through the window.

Kyria blushed softly and set up the beds. She was paranoid too but took it out in a different way. She managed to find a pencil and started writing on the guest book writing quickly and without any sign of lucidity.

Kendall frowned as he noticed the soft skritching sounds of pencil on paper and turned to see Kyria writing something in the guest book. He quickly and deftly walked over and snatched the pencil from her hands. "Don't." he ordered, stern and soft at the same time. "The goal is to leave as little trace of ourselves as possible. We don't want anyone who may be trying to follow us to have an easy time of it do we?" he asked in a low whisper.

Kyria gasped and nodded at the table. Her eyes a little glassed from the contacts. "I'm sorry." She stuttered. "It just happens when I'm scared or nervous, I just start doing it. I'm sorry." She said a few more times then grabbed the little eraser and started rubbing out the score of music. "You wouldn't have liked that piece anyway. Too sad." She tried to smile. Tried to lighten the mood a little.

Kendall sighed and grabbed the guest book. "Here." he said, tearing the page out very carefully so that it was ripped as close to the spine as possible. "Not a perfect solution, but anyone who doesn't look carefully isn't going to notice." he said, handing her the page and pencil, but keeping the book with him. "You can keep these," he said, "but please, try to put aside those urges to write, and at least try to get some sleep. We have a long day of travel ahead of us tomorrow. And I'll protect you. After all, that's what you hired me for." He said, adding in the last sentence after only a split second of hesitation. He had heard footsteps in the hallway, and although they were likely just another patron of the inn, he wanted to make sure that anything that was overheard could still fit into their cover story.

Kyria nodded. "Thank you." She replied giving him a small nervous smile. Her mind swam with all the different possibilities of the songs she had running around in her mind both conscious and subconscious. She had to be careful though, she only had two pages, if she didn't pick wisely she'd waste it and she didn't want to waste any part of the precious paper, so she started writing just the letters with little marks so she'd know what to write when she had proper paper.

Kendall nodded. "You're welcome." he said before sighing and putting the guestbook back into the drawer. "And please, try to get some sleep tonight." he said, knowing they did not have very long to sleep at all.

Kyria blushed a tiny bit. "Yeah sleep sound good." She replied biting her lip as she tried hard not to start writing on the walls and on his face. No! Don't mar his beautiful face! Something inside her cried. Damnit! We agreed not to speak of that stuff! She yelled back at it.
